Work Text:
“I don't want to get back together, it's just that we were friends, then a power couple, and then we were... nothing.”
Hetty mentally agreed with Trevor, although for a moment she felt a slight pang.
“Of course, I could have done better. I'm sorry.” She was glad that she finally had a chance to apologize. Neither of them were very good at talking about personal matters, and after the breakup, it was much easier for both of them to pretend that there was no affair – overt or covert – between them. After all, it only lasted a few months, what was that compared to eternity? And yet, Trevor's puppy eyes told her that this apology, however belated, was very much needed.
“Thank you.”
Sometimes, once you start talking, it's hard to stop.
“You know, I miss our friendship too. And I agree, we were a power couple!”
Trevor grunted in agreement.
A brilliant idea came to Hetty.
“But maybe we can be powerful friends?” Hetty understood from the interested glint in the guy's eyes that she was on the right track.
“I'm listening.”
“I propose an alliance. Instead of fighting each other, we will conspire against others for our mutual benefit with the ultimate goal of ruling the house.”
“As powerful friends? I like it! It's like Saturday morning cartoons!” Trevor's enthusiasm was so infectious that Hetty smiled.
“Is that good?” Hetty asked doubtfully. To him she could admit that she did not understand something.
“Yeah! That's cool! Okay, what the hell? We'll do it! Powerful friends!”
Trevor extended his fist, and Hetty guessed what he was waiting for.
“Maybe all is not lost yet,” thought Hetty.
“Maybe all is not lost yet,” thought Trevor.
