Even from here, Jaem'wa could still hear the sound of the Monsters from outside of the castle. His eyes slowly drifted over to the window nearby, watching the sight below. He could see all of the other inhabitants of Air Island scurrying about, chatting eagerly to one another and celebrating the on-going holiday, Season of Love.
Jaem'wa had never been the type of Monster to enjoy celebrating anything, even on Cold Island. Although, they supposed that was just an effect of his usually standoff-ish nature. But when it came to Phloruh... he didn't mind.
Right. His gaze removed itself from the window and landed on the Mythical nestled cozily on his arms. Phloruh. That stupid little Epic Yawstrich that just always managed to bring a smile to his face and make their heart flutter. Even though it had only been a few hours, he could still vividly remember how excited his darling had gotten when he managed to come to Air Island, just to spend time during the seasonal event with it. Regardless of how complicated traveling through Islands could be, because of transportation and everything, Jaem'wa just couldn't deny his dear Phloruh of coming to see it for Season of Love, specially with the ungodly amount of letters it had sent him just begging for him to come, even for just a day.
And... well, here he was.
Just after the Epic Strombonin's arrival, and after Phloruh had managed to find him through the surprisingly large crowd of Monsters that were also visiting Air Island — which... fair enough, a lot of Islands tended to get very populated with visiting Monsters during holidays — he was pleasantly surprised when they found out that the Epic Yawstrich had prepared a little date and a gift for him. It wasn't anything fancy, in retrospect; just a box of Chokkolits and a quick meal for the two. But, they would be lying if Jaem'wa said that he didn't almost squeal in joy at his beloved's efforts to make today more special than it already was.
He felt a little smile curl on their face at the memory, one of the Epic Strombonin's hands reaching out slowly and caressing the top of his darling's head. After their little date, the two had decided to just go back to the Castle and spend the rest of the day there. Phloruh had told Jaem'wa that it... hadn't really planned a lot, aside from what it had already done. But he didn't mind — not when it meant he could spend more time alone with his beloved.
His eyes glanced upwards and looked around the room. Phloruh's room. It was rather cute, he had to admit. It really looked like it belonged to the Epic Yawstrich. Walls made out of pink and red stones, dark turquoise wooden floors, and everything was decorated with fancy little paintings and other trinkets that it had probably found around and decided to keep. Jaem'wa really liked the little zone in one of the walls that was just... every single one of the letters that he had sent Phloruh, like a visible reminder of just how much he loved it.
God, it was such a dork. And yet, that was why he loved his darling so much, wasn't it?
He looked back down to Phloruh, taking in the simple sight of their lover, so peacefully asleep on top of him. Even after all this time, he still couldn't even begin to comprehend how absolutely gorgeous the Epic Yawstrich was. That soft, pink plumage, those beautiful wings, those elegant horns, and that face...
Jaem'wa couldn't resist leaning in and nuzzling his snout against his darling's forehead, his lips brushing against its temple in a soft kiss. He felt Phloruh rouse a little at the gesture, its head wings flapping lightly as its rich turquoise eyes fluttered open, trailing upwards to look at him. Then, it smiled as it met their gaze, and the other Monster's own eyes softened at the reaction. "Did I wake you up, darling?" He asked, their hand moving downwards to softly pet the feathers on Phloruh's cheek. "...Yeah." It replied, the Epic Yawstrich's voice soft with the remnants of sleep.
"I didn't snooze off for too long, did I?" It laughed a little as it asked, settling its head back on the Epic Strombonin's chest comfortably. And oh Galvana, how it was times like these where Jaem'wa really struggled to just smother their beloved with kisses with how adorable it was. "It's still early in he afternoon; don't worry." He answered, his free hand patting the Epic Air Mythical's back.
He liked these moments. The moments where he could just nuzzle with their darling and just enjoy the feel of it. The feel of its warmth, the sight of those eyes fluttering close once more as Phloruh rested on him, comfortable, safe and content. Slowly, they wrapped his arms around its body, holding the other Monster as close as he could. The Epic Yawstrich giggled at the display of affection, savoring the touch from its lover. "You're real cuddly all of a sudden, huh?"
Jaem'wa just smiled in response. In a different situation, maybe such a comment would've made them feel embarrassed or skittish. But not with Phloruh. Not with his dear, his darling. Not with the knowledge that he utterly loved it, and the knowledge that such a feeling was mutual.
Not with the feeling of its soft, warm feathers on his cold fur.
