Chapter Text
Princess Nebetia was the daughter of Prince Siatum, and a skilled fighter. She was in charge of her father's army and also his protector. During the year of the Scorpion, Pharaoh Seti the first held a celebration at his palace inviting all of the royals from around the land to stay there. The pharaoh also held a yearly challenge to determine who would protect him, and who would protect the bracelet of Anubis. This year the challenge was between his daughter Nefertiti and his wife to be, Anuck-Su -Numun.
As Nebetia walked through the hall with her father and a few other guests, they turned the corner seeing the pharaoh, Nefertiti, and Anuck-Su-Numun, "Ah dear friend, welcome." Pharaoh says to Siatum and they hug each other, "I trust your journey went well?"
"Yes, dear friend. It is good to see you." They laughed together as Nefertiti embraced Nebetia in a hug.
"How are you dear friend?" Nebetia asks her
"I am well, and yourself?"
"Excited to be here"
"Good to hear." She say then faced her father, "Shall we introduce your bride to be father?" She asked him and he nodded turning to Anuck-Su-Numun.
"My dear friends, this is Anuck-Su-Numun, my soon to be wife." He introduced and she looked at us bowing her head which we returned.
"Very nice to meet you." Nebetia tells her and the pharaoh claps.
"I shall show you to your rooms." He told them and they all started walking while Nefertiti intertwined her arm with Nebetia then they followed.
"How are things back home?" Nefertiti asked Nebetia.
"Wonderful, our number in fighters is growing by the day."
"That is wonderful to hear but I meant your life."
"It is great as well. Father still insists I find a husband." Nebetia says loud enough for her father to hear while smiling.
"I only want you to be happy daughter."
"I am happy father" She replied then shared a smile with Nefertiti.
"That reminds me Pharaoh, although my daughter can handle herself, might I ask if she have at least one guard on her at all times?"
"Is that necessary father?" She asked
"We have many enemies daughter, your safety is important."
"He also worries too much." She tells Nefertiti who giggled.
"Of course, friend, I shall assign her Armon." The Pharaoh told him gesturing to the guard who was walking alongside him. Nebetia gave the guard a quick look then they all stopped by a set of doors, "I have you set up in here Nebetia," he told her and opened the doors to her room. The room was quite big and had some potted plants lining the walls, a gorgeous big bed with blue and gold colored bedding, a washing tub that must have been prepared upon their arrival, and a balcony with curtains pinned up to the sides, "We shall leave the two of you to catch up." Pharaoh told Nebetia and Nertiti then him and Siatum walked away.
"Your father is to kind Nefertiti." Nebetia told her walking into the room sitting on the bed with her friend then looked over at Armon, who stood there in the doorway looking forward.
"He wants his guest's comfortable dear friend."
"Which is truly appreciated." She told her then looked back at Armon, "I'm sure you have other business to attend to Medjai. I do not require a babysitter." Nebetia says to him, but he continued to stand there so she looked at Nefertiti, "Do they not speak?" She asked, and her friend smiled then looked at the Medjai.
"You are free to answer her Armon." She told him, and he looked over at the both of them.
"I am here to make sure you stay safe Princess." He tells her and she smiled.
"That is not needed, I can take care of myself."
"I have no doubt, Princess. I have orders from the Pharaoh to be your guard." He says to her, and she looked back at Nefertiti.
"Try not to fight it dear, they do whatever father asks of them. Besides, we have more important matters to attend to, but first I shall let you rest from your journey. We will see you at dinner." Nefertiti says to her giving Nebetia a hug then head towards the door, "Pay no mind to her Armon, she's too stubborn for her own good." Nefertiti told him and Nebetia shoots her a glare then she left.
"I think I'll freshen up, if you insist on standing there I ask for some privacy."
"I am to keep eyes on you at all times Princess." He says still staring ahead.
"If you insist." She says and turns her back to him while she started to undo the straps to her dress letting it pool around her feet then proceeded to remove her jewelry glancing back at the Medjai who was still looking ahead of him, and she smirked. She moved around the side of the washing tub getting within his line of sight then climbed up the stairs before lowering herself into the water catching a glimpse of the Medjai who looked at her for the briefest of moments then ahead of him again making her smile to herself. She moved forward in the water placing her arms on the edge of it looking at him, "If you are going to be my guard then you shall call me by my name and not Princess. Call me Nebetia."
"We are required to call all royals by their titles Princess."
"And I am telling you, that I would prefer to be called by my name, just because I am of higher station does not mean I enjoy the formalities. Call me by my name, and I shall call you by yours." She told him and he glanced at her then back forward.
"As you wish, Nebetia."
"Much better. Thank you, Armon." She said with a smirk then leaned back into the water cleansing herself. When she exited the tub, she grabbed the linen cloth wrapping it around her body then walks over to her trunk that the Pharaoh had sent to her room, "So tell me Armon, have you worked for the Pharaoh long?" She asked dropping the towel down on the ground after pulling out another dress to wear.
"Since I was old enough."
Nebetia pulled the dress on over her body putting the straps over her arms, "And how old were you?"
"I was of age 20."
"And what age are you now?" She asks him then moved over to the table picking up a brush.
"These questions are informal Princess."
"Nebetia." She corrects after brushing her hair then walked over to him, "And I asked you a question."
"I am 28 years of age Nebetia."
"That's better. Now, I wish to take a stroll through the gardens." She tells him, and he gave a nod moving aside then followed her as she left her room.
