The mission had been a success and Luna felt happy knowing that Senku accepted her as his girlfriend.. even if it was clear he only said that to make an alliance. What did he call it? An arranged marriage. Yeah, sucks, but Luna, a capable gal, wasn't just going to sit here waiting for him to fall in love with her. No sir! She knew that it would require hard work from her part to make him interested. Yuzuriha had told her about Senku’s marriage and his quick divorce. It still baffled her and made her a bit miffed at herself. She should have just asked him to be her husband instead of her boyfriend…. But who was she kidding? She didn’t know anything about dating and being someone's wife?! That was nothing she would take lightly, what was she even supposed to do in the stone world with a husband?
Standing next to the railing of the boat at night, Luna daydreamed about what exactly a husband and wife would do in the stone world, at night, when everyone was asleep. Feeling smoke come out from the top of her head she stopped that train of thought as she felt her face colour could rival the color of her dress. She was so deep inside her own train of thoughts that she didn’t even notice that someone walked up to her.
“Luna, are you okay?” Yuzuriha asked and placed her hand on the pink haired girl's back.
With a motion of the speed of light Luna turned to her friend. “Huh Yuzuriha, hello I mean I am so okay, why wouldn’t I be okay? If I was more okay then I am right now, I would be floating in the sky because I am so okay! Okay?”
Yuzuriha looked unconvinced and leaned closer to her friend. “You were thinking of Senku right now, weren't you?” Luna’s eyes doubled in size and leaned even closer to fill the gap between them.
“How did you know that?” She whispered.
“It was pretty clear.” Yuzuriha smiled. “You don’t have to tell me what you were thinking about right now, I can clearly see that it would make you faint.” She paused and looked around them to see that no one was listening in on their conversation. “But how are you feeling about all of it? You know you can take it back and break up if you are disappointed about the whole thing. I know what you told me when we first became friends that the thought of getting a boyfriend was the only thing that was on your mind until you finally broke free from the stone. I mean Senku isn’t really boyfriend material in the way you hoped for.”
Luna looked shocked at her friend for a bit and she could clearly see it was eating at Yuzuriha’s conscience to just talk about this with her. With a smile Luna shook her head. “No it really isn’t the kind of relationship I first imagined but, you know, for all these months we have known each other I just felt we have grown closer. I know that at first my thoughts were only about getting a smart and successful boyfriend but now. I, I love Senku. Even if it is very annoying to not be able to do more of the couple things with him, I am still pleased with it all. I love him and all of his quirks. I wouldn’t have him any other way.”
With tears in her eyes Yuzuriha hugged Luna hard against herself and smiled. “That is the only thing I ever wished for him, to find someone that would love him for him.” She pulled them apart and smiled. “Thank you for loving him Luna.”
“Thank you for supporting me Yuzuriha.” Luna said and felt tears in her eyes.
“Anytime.” They smiled at each other before turning their heads towards the moon that was now way up in the sky. “I think it is about time we went to bed.”
“Sure, you can go first, I just want to check something before I go.” Luna said and waved at Yuzurha who walked to the door that led to their sleeping quarters.
It really wasn’t a lot of people awake at the late hours of the day but Luna knew one who often sat in his lab mixing and fixing stuff to aid them with their travels. So she walked past some of the night guards that were patrolling and gave them her best wishes before she walked over to the area Senku often was when he was experimenting. The room looked messy but she knew that he knew where everything was and even if no one else saw it, it was apparently in perfect order. Well as perfect as it could be when the lab had been shipped away when Stanley the crazy man was chasing them all. Now they were kinda on the same side and it felt good knowing that the psychopath wasn’t going to shoot her boyfriend again. Still the lab was gone and all the interior was now cramped inside this small makeshift lab. The light made the room look a bit eerie and Luna couldn’t understand why Senku stayed down here most of the day. But there he was, tinkering away on some machine and he hardly noticed her presence at all.
“You really should sleep, you know.” Luna said in a low tone as she moved closer to Senku.
He turned his head and smiled in the way that made Luna’s stomach twist and turn. She was sure her cheeks were beginning to shift in color. “Luna! Just in time I wanted to show you something.” Luna, now a little more intrigued, walked over to the desk with a curious look.
“Oh?” She said and noticed a piece of fabric laying on the table but other than that she didn’t really see much.
“Yeah, a thing you will like, get excited!” Senku then tore of the fabric from the table and there laid something Luna had dreamt about for so long when she was just a little girl. Something she had wanted and secretly longed for but never told anyone. Maybe Max had told him or was it Carlos? It didn’t matter Luna thought as she stepped near the table and with trembling hands she lifted a stethoscope. It looked just like the ones in the modern world and felt like it too. She didn’t realise she had been holding her breath until she felt a bit woozy.
“I, how-, I mean-, when, when did you…” Luna held it so carefully like it could break with just a slight bit of movement.
“Heh,” Senku smiled and cleaned his ear with his finger like he usually did. “I know you had been studying hard to become a doctor before the petrification beam and now you often ask around gathering all knowledge you can about the medical field. Yeah I have noticed it.” He smiled and crossed his arms as he noticed the shocked expression Luna wore. “I mean, you have been asking me, Francios, dr Xeno, Chrome and a lot more people. It was clear that you still wish to be a doctor. And I thought that a doctor should have their own stethoscope.”
Luna felt tears slowly running down her face and she smiled widely. He really was the best boyfriend ever. “Thank you Senku, thank you so much!” She said holding the stethoscope near her chest. “You are one million percent right. I love it!” I want to hug him so badly right now!
And just as Luna had that though, she noticed Senku turning his body towards her, almost as if anticipating a hug, right? Or was she imagining it? It took one second for her to decide she didn’t give a shit about it and hurried to throw her arms around his neck in a tight hug. But with enough space between them that it wouldn’t make it weird for Senku or do anything to damage the stethoscope. He gave her a hug back and for a moment Luna felt like she was floating in the sky. “Now that this is over you should head over to the sleeping quarters.” He said and loosened the hug.
Luna walked backwards, still looking at her impressive boyfriend as she gave him a smile before she headed out the room.
