Work Text:
Luka couldn't believe it, what he thought was a hug was a sacrifice from the only one who seemed to understand him and approached him.
"Hyuna...?" he whispered, grasping the limp body of Hyuna.
He tried to savor as much of Hyuna's fleeing warmth as much as he could as tears ran down his cheeks.
At this point, he didn't care that there were armed men with guns around him. All he cared was making sure Hyuna stays alive.
"Hyuna.. you've told me you're strong... prove it to me.." he sobbed, nuzzling into Hyuna's hair for comfort.
The speech that Hyuna gave him under her dying breath... no. She's still alive.. she's just. Unconscious. Yes.
Live with love, Luka...
"But how..?" he asked, feeling Hyuna's temperature drop every few seconds.
"No.." he grabbed her tighter, hoping to transfer his own warmth to her.
Unfortunately, Luka's touch was always cold.
"Hyuna.. I can't lose you... you're the reason I kept going.."
"Answer me.."
She didn't answer. The only thing that "answered" Luka was the footsteps of the men and Mizi whispering words to Till close by.
For the first time in a while, Luka took his eyes off Hyuna. He glanced at his two previous opponents.
Mizi cupped Till's face with her hands, her appearance messy.
Luka carefully made sure Hyuna's body was leaned nicely against his own as he massaged the place where his heart is.
Embrace the pain, the frailty, and the moments so unbearably shameful.
Hyuna's words entered Luka's mind again, which only made him start crying again uncontrollably.
He's taking in Hyuna's last words slowly. At this point, the voices in his head is in Hyuna's voice, which was both comforting yet tormenting.
He looked at Hyuna's body again, which was still stabilized against him. Luka never was the type of guy to know the concept of death, or just dying in general. He knows it's a process that everyone has to go through, but he never fully understood it. Perhaps this was a change, or a lesson.
But you were always my one and only weakness.
"You were mine too..." he whispered to Hyuna.
Luka wiped away his tears.
"You were my savior, a young and beautiful soul..."
He chuckled, "You really are my savior now, huh."
He repositioned Hyuna's body, looking at her closed eyes. He traced his purple fingers around Hyuna's eyelids.
Luka, live with love.
Those words again.. it was clear that that sentence made a big impact on Luka.
"But how can I, Hyuna?" he smiled bitterly.
Luka closed his eyes, focusing on the noises around him. The continuing crying of Mizi over Till filled him with a pang of newfound sympathy. The men strolling nearby on the stage, the creaking of the stage lights above...
And the silence of Hyuna's breathing. Luka opened his eyes again, his child-like expressions now matured.
"I don't know how to live without my love..."
He breathed in deeply, he knows he has to move on... to fully develop.
"Fly high, my star... one that failed to outshine the brightest sun... but in my world.."
He cupped Hyuna's lifeless and cold face.
"You are my sun... you are my world. Hyuna, the ruler of my heart."
He breathed in heavily again, it was clear that Luka's medical conditions and body didn't support Hyuna dying and getting Luka all emotionally worked up especially after an intense final round.
He can't hold onto Hyuna's body forever, as the aftereffects really started to show up in his body. His heart and lungs was tightening ever so slowly. Luka should probably lie down now.
He carefully laid Hyuna on the ground as he laid down right beside her. He looked up at the stage ceiling, almost like stargazing.
He closed his eyes and accidentally fell asleep, but before drifting away on the stage, he swore he heard Hyuna's voice whisper in his ears, maybe for the final time.
Luka... I know you can carry on without me. Take care... just remember... I'll always be by your side, but maybe in another timeline..
