When the public found out Katsuki and Izuku were getting married, it was shocking. Though, not to those close to them. The amount of commitment and care both of them had for each other led each of their friends to one conclusion; Katsuki and Izuku were soulmates. After a year of careful planning, mostly by Katsuki, the time had arrived. Two weddings were to happen. One was for their close family. Inko, Toshinori, Mitsuki, Masaru, and of course, Izuku and Katsuki. The perfect traditional family wedding photo will soon sit above their living room couch for all visitors to see. The second wedding was for friends, coworkers, and extended family. It was more western so the reception got a little crazy.
People filled the venue as pictures spread over social media like wildfire. Fans and haters alike couldn't tear their eyes away from the videos that were posted like an IV drip to the internet. Everything was going according to plan, down to the songs on the playlist that he and Katsuki curated together. At least that's what Izuku thought until a microphone made a screeching noise that gathered everyone's attention. A familiar voice cleared its throat before the crowd between Izuku and the stage parted like he was Moses commanding the Red Sea. On stage, holding the offending microphone, was Katsuki still dressed in his suit but without his tie. Momo and Kyouka seemed to be getting in position behind him, along with Eijirou and Denki.
“Wha-” Izuku started to ask as hands grabbed him by his shoulders and shoved him into a chair that appeared behind him. He looked over his shoulder to see Tenya and Ochako, smiling like they knew what was about to happen. “Sorry to spring this on ya Nerd, but I wanted ta do somethin’ extra special.” Katsuki said, drawing the other's attention back to him. The blonde's close friends were ready and waiting as Katsuki looked towards them with a nod. Izuku was entirely confused because surely, what he thought was about to happen was not going to happen. Katsuki shows his love in many ways. Buying Izuku his favorite merchandise, cooking Izuku his favorite meals, and aggressively forcing Izuku to take care of himself.
Singing is not one of those ways. Yet, Momo started playing her keyboard as she stood on the stage with Kyouka who soon started strumming her purple guitar. Katsuki's ears tinted pink as he started to sing. “I found a love for me.” He touched his chest. Right where his scar, that peeked above the few buttons the blonde left undone, was. “Oh, darling, just dive right in and follow my lead.” He said as Izuku saw the people around him break off into couples to slow dance when the lights dimmed. Katsuki glanced behind him with a smirk. “Well, I found a guy, beautiful and sweet.” He added to turn his attention back to Izuku. “Oh, I never knew you were the someone waitin' for me.” His red eyes zeroed in on his husband who was still sitting in the middle of the dance floor.
Izuku flushed, almost wanting to look away but he couldn't. The song picked up as Katsuki continued. “'Cause we were just kids when we fell in love, not knowin' what it was.” Izuku thought about the many pictures that their parents have of them from when they were kids. He wondered where along the way he fell for Katsuki and when the blonde fell for him in return. They may have realized it later but for Izuku at least, he knew his love for Katsuki had always been there. “I will not give you up this time. Oh, darling, just kiss me slow, your heart is all I own. And in your eyes, you're holding mine.” The blonde said and Izuku teared up. The war had long been over but it felt like not too long ago Katsuki's heart exploded on the battlefield leaving him lifeless.
That was a hard day for all of them, but Izuku almost lost himself. If it wasn't for the people around him, he would have abandoned everything to run to Katsuki's side. That's exactly why the blonde was a target, why he still is. But they just can't stay apart, even in death. Katsuki has proven that. So target on their backs or not, they're better together than apart. The blonde sang the next part with Denki and Kyoula backing him up. It pulled Izuku out of his thoughts about that tragic day. “Baby, I'm dancin' in the dark with you between my arms.” He gestured to the other. “Barefoot on the grass while listenin' to our favourite song.” He said then rolled his eyes dramatically.
“When you said you looked a mess, I whispered underneath my breath
But you heard it, "Darling, you look perfect tonight.” Izuku almost laughed because of the coincidence of that statement. Earlier this morning he had said that very thing after they had gotten dressed. His hair wouldn't cooperate, neither would his tie, and he just felt like nothing was going right because he even struggled to button his shirt. It was just nerves about their wedding say even though this was the second run through. Katsuki was always there to save him though. He helped him with his hair, tied his tie and made sure his shirt was buttoned right. Then with a kiss to Izuku's cheek, he told him he looked perfect just the way he is.
The dam that Izuku felt like he had to constantly patch up lately finally collapsed as the blonde stepped off the stage. He weaved through the couples dancing by him as the music kept playing. “Well, I found a man, stronger than anyone I know.” He sang as he made his way towards Izuku who had tears lightly running down his freckled cheeks. “He shares my dreams, I hope that someday, I'll share his home.” That someday will be very soon. Next week they're supposed to move into their new house. Their forever home he hoped. “I found a love to carry more than just my secrets. To carry love, to adopt children of our own.” Katsuki took a moment to ruffle Kouta and Eri's hair, who happened to be nearby and slow dancing together.
The boy frowned and Eri giggled. Izuku was so proud of them and he knew the blonde was too, even if he didn’t say so. Katsuki just grinned and continued on until he was finally in front of Izuku. He's sure the taller can see his mess of a face but the love in Katsuki's eyes made him not care how he looked at all. Izuku's lip wobbled as he stayed in his chair, looking up at his husband. For a moment Katsuki looked a little nervous and the shorter didn't know why. Then he realized, Katsuki has been nervous this whole time. This wasn't something he usually did. He doesn’t show love like this but he was putting forth the effort because of Izuku. To do something “extra special” for him.
Katsuki was out of his comfort zone but he loved Izuku so much he wanted to show it in more ways than one. He truly couldn't ask for a better husband. A better partner to spend the rest of his life with whether that be a long one or a short one. “We are still kids, but we're so in love, fightin' against all odds. I know we'll be alright this time.” Katsuki sang and Izuku flushed hard. They've been through a lot of ups and downs together. From their young childhood to their troubled teen years and fighting in a war. Everything about them is the opposite and should tell them that they can't work. Like oil and water yet they're more like sugar and hot sauce. People may think it sounds like a strange combo but sweet and spicy mixes well.
The baggage they have they both carry together. When one falls the other is there to pick him back up and dust him off. There can't be one without the other. Katsuki swallowed hard and held out his hand. “Darling, just hold my hand, be my man, I'll be your husband. I see my future in your eyes.” He said as Izuku smiled and took his hand like he asked. He was pulled to his feet as Katsuki kept singing. Singing to him and making everyone around them disappear. “Oh, baby, I'm dancin' in the dark with you between my arms.” Katsuki put one of Izuku's hands on his shoulder and the shorter’s other hand followed suit when he understood the hint. His own free hand went to Midoriya's waist.
Suddenly a light was put right on them illuminating their intimacy for all of their guests to see. “Barefoot on the grass while listenin' to our favorite song
When I saw you in that suit, lookin' so beautiful. I don't deserve this, darling, you look perfect tonight.” Katsuki then started slow dancing with Izuku who still had watery eyes and wet cheeks. The violin solo along with Denki and Kyouka harmonizing continued. “You're such a crybaby.” Katsuki murmured as he used a finger to wipe under Izuku's eyes. The shorter giggled, feeling so happy. “Because my husband is being very sweet.” He replied, earning a shake of Katsuki's blonde head.
Though Izuku could see the pink dusting Katsuki's cheeks as he put the microphone back up to his lips. “Baby, I'm dancin' in the dark with you between my arms. Barefoot on the grass, oh, listenin' to our favorite song. I have faith in what I see, now I know I have met an angel in person, and he looks perfect.” He said getting quieter as the music faded out to let Katsuki's voice be heard loud and clear. “Though I don't deserve this, you look perfect tonight.” Katsuki finished and pressed his forehead to Izuku's who closed his eyes and listened to the last bit of music playing before it stopped. The crowd around them of course clapped for them.
Izuku turned strawberry red but once again as Katsuki's red eyes opened to look at him like he was his whole world the smaller didn't care. “I love you so much, Kacchan.” He said with a wobbly tone. “I love you too, Izuku. With everything I got.” Katsuki replied, pulling Izuku into a sweet kiss without a care about who was looking. In many ways Izuku was thankful for this life he has been given but he's more thankful that he and Katsuki found their way back to each other after so many trials and tribulations. Katsuki has done so much to atone for their past and Izuku couldn't be happier. He can't wait to spend the rest of his life as Bakugou Izuku.
