Chapter Text
Hermione shook her head, her face showing both amusement and disappointment as she looked at three kids in front of her, who were trying to give their most innocent faces as if they didn't just do the most reckless thing ever.
Robin was the typical gingerhead with freckles on his face. Harold had black curly locks and a pale face. Helena was a brown, curly-haired girl with specs due to her poor eyesight caused by excessive reading. They were the three students who always caused chaos (one way or another) and today was no other exception.
"Harold, Robin, and Helene," Hermione said, crossing her arms on her chest. Her tone contained both amusement and disappointment. "Why did both of you think throwing water balloons at Jacob was perfectly fine?"
Jacob is the typical bully of the school. Always teasing others, commenting on everyone, especially Helena. Hermione also knew how protective Robin and Harold were for Helena, especially Robin. It reminded her of how Harry and Ron were protective of her.
Robin, a red-haired boy looked at Hermione with a defensive look. "He was bullying Helena for being a nerd ma'am." Harold nodded behind supporting his best mate while Helena looked down embarrassed, trying not to show the proudness in her eyes for her friends.
Hermione had to exercise great inner restraint to avoid laughing at Robin's naive defensive expressions. Clearing her throat, she attempted to appear stern: "So, how does this justify your decision to throw water balloons at Jacob? Doesn't that mean you're just as bad as he is?"
Robin opened his mouth but closed it, realizing the truth in Hermione's words. Harold, the black-haired green-eyed boy, covered his mouth trying not to laugh at his best mate's embarrassment. While Helena kept her eyes down, proud but embarrassed.
Kids I swear to god. Thought Hermione amused as she saw
Hermione looked down pinching the bridge of her nose before looking at the trio. "Fine. I am letting you three go" Hermione said surprising the trio, making them look at her with a hopeful look. "But" Hermione added strictly, "You three will apologize to Jacob and if I see you three doing any other mischief like this I will complain to your parents. Understand?"
Trio nodded relieved by Hermione's softness.
"Now shoo! Off you, three" Hermione jokingly shooed them away making the trio run away.
As soon as the trio ran away Hermione shook her head chuckling.
Now I know why McGonagall was always tired of us. Hermione thought nostalgic.
It's been 6 years since all went down. Harry died making Voldemort live. and Fred was killed by Bellatrix. Ron went missing. Order tried their best but failed to find him.
After a year Hermione left the wizarding world. Tired of having hopeless hope.
It's been 6 years since she lost her best friend. 6 years since she lost the love of her life.
She did miss Harry a lot. After all, Harry was like a brother to her. But ron...
Ron. Ronald Bilius Weasley.
That git still had her heart. No matter what she did to move on.
She missed everything about him
His sarcasm
His jokes
His eyes which used to seem to sparkle with love every time he saw her
Their argument. That competitiveness and amusement that used to reflect in ron's eyes every time they argued.
Him teasing about her height
Him carefully brushing her hair when she was overwhelmed
Him staying in the common room to give her company
Him giving her hot chocolate and sweets when she had periods
His protectiveness.
The sexy glare he gave to anyone who insulted her
Everything
She tried. to move on. She did meet a lot of nice guys. But none of them was Ron
She knew she had to move on. Her brain knew. But her stupid heart. still had hopes. That her Ron is alive. and kept waiting for him.
Hermione snaps out of her thoughts as she hears the bell ring, indicating the end of school.
I hope one day I will find peace. Hermione thought as she packed her stuff, picked up her bag, and left, ready to pass another day as she did for the past 5 years as he walked towards her apartment prepared to finish her day as usual.
Oh god, how wrong she was.
