Work Text:
“Hen,” Chim whispers with confusion. “There's someone downstairs asking for you.”
Hen wonders who would visit her at the firehouse instead of her house. She heads downstairs and sees a face from her past.
“Well if it isn't Sarah's brother,” Hen says with surprise. “How's she doing?”
“She's good,” Sam replies with a smile. “I haven't seen her as much as I should though.”
“No me either," Hen admits. "I was sorry to hear about Riley."
Sam dips his head as she acknowledges his old partner. "Thanks. It was a difficult time."
“What brings you to LA?” she asks changing the subject.
Sam drops his voice to a whisper. “I'm looking for someone - who means a lot," Sam coughs, "he's the best friend of one of my closest friends. I heard he might be in LA so I had to come check it out.” Sam pauses. “Plus a good excuse to come and see how you are.”
“I'm doing good,” Hen nods. “Still a firefighter."
“It suits you.” Sam grins and nudges her arm looking impressed.
“Yeah, it does,” Hen agrees. She pauses, switching back to the reason he’s here. “I have a friend who works for the LAPD, for your missing..”
“No cops on this one,” Sam interrupts. “It's delicate.”
“You can trust her.”
Sam shakes his head. He navigates some apps on his phone and hands it over.
Hen’s eye widen in understanding at the pictures in front of her. “They went missing after the highway incident in DC?”
Sam whispers “they were the incident. But that wasn't - isn't who he really is." Sam swallows, "I need to find him."
“Oh? It's like that?” Hen nudges him as Sam nods. “I'll help. Discreetly obviously. The Wilson pledge, remember?”
Sam sighs relieved. “I knew I could count on you.”
