Summary:

Written for Day Four of Caitvi week 2025!!

“You got a name, pretty girl?” The lifeguard, Vi, asked– shaking Caitlyn’s hand rather fiercely.

Caitlyn scrambled a little, a result of the sudden, maybe slightly unexpected contact.  “Uhm– yes! It's Caitlyn,” she explained, before asking for Vi’s own name– just to be sure he wasn't tricking her, “You're.. Vi, yes?”

“Isn't that what Jayce just told you?”

“Wanted to check with you first– you can never trust him,” called Caitlyn's poor attempt at a joke; one she didn't consider to be particularly funny.

Vi, however, laughed – a deep, hearty, rather beautiful laugh.

And it took Caitlyn every bone in her body to not slam her against the nearest beach hut wall, pressing their mouths together as fast and as rough as possible, desperate to see what Vi would look like all flustered– lips swollen and red, utterly kiss bitten.

Caitlyn gets forced out to the beach by her best friend Jayce, and unexpectedly meets who she thinks might be the love of her life.

Work Text:

Please, Caitlyn?” Jayce pleaded for what felt like the fiftieth time that evening.

At this rate, he might as well have been on his knees– tears streaming down his face, hands in a begging motion at Caitlyn’s feet. However, the tearful look in his eyes somehow managed to display that feeling exactly the same, somehow.

Caitlyn, from the opposite end of the kitchen, groaned at the pleading, before refusing his offer once more, “For the last time, Jayce, I am not coming to the beach with you!”

She had just been enjoying her day prior to this– taking a slow, relaxed day off, sipping on iced lattes while trying not to melt from the heat, fans blasting throughout her entire apartment.

Jayce pulled out his puppy eyes once more, a hopeless attempt to make Caitlyn feel somewhat sorry for him, “But I have nobody else to go with..”

“Mel?” Caitlyn asked, followed by a shake of the head from Jayce’s direction, “Viktor?”

Jayce shifted slightly at the mention of Viktor’s name, knowing he’d have to come up with a better reason as to why Caitlyn should join him at the beach tomorrow, “Mel is visiting family in Noxus, and Viktor is coming– but I want you there, too!”

“So you want me to be a third wheel?” Caitlyn groaned, pressing her back against the counter top, leaning there as she fidgeted with her hands– trying to provide some sort of distraction for herself.

Jayce narrowed his eyes, quickly coming up with a retort. “ No, I want you to have a break and enjoy yourself.”

‘Enjoy herself’? At the beach?

It was like Jayce didn’t even know her!

“I hate the beach,” Caitlyn reasoned, swirling the glass straw in her iced latte before taking a long, desperate sip.

Sighing, Jayce took a small sip of his own ice water, “How long has it been since you went?”

“A few years.”

“Weren't you a teenager?”

What relevance did that even have? “Maybe.” She replied, as if she’d enjoy it any more now that he was older– Jayce had to be on something. “All I remember from it was getting frustrated that the sand kept sticking to my skin– I’d rather not go.”

Please?” Jayce asked once more, extending the syllables at the end of his pleas, “I'll never ask anything of you again– I promise!”

Caitlyn searched the back of her mind once more, before her eyes brightened, suddenly coming up with a final answer– one that would surely work,  “What about that lifeguard friend– can't you take her?”

“No.”

Why?”

“Well, I was.. kinda hoping to introduce you to her,” Jayce mumbled, trailing off the end of his sentence– clearly having some sort of ulterior motives to this whole.. beach trip.

Caitlyn, quick-thinking as ever, didn’t need even a second to deduce what Jayce had been planning, “You're setting me up with someone.”

“No– well, maybe?”

She knew that tone of voice– the exact tone he'd use after lying , trying to get away with it.

Caitlyn’s response was firm, almost slightly annoyed, “ Jayce.”

“Look, she’s– exactly your type.” he scrambled to reply, failing at an attempt to justify his ridiculous reasoning.

“My type?” Caitlyn questioned, not sure even she knew of her type.

“Yeah! You know, muscular, butch, flirty.. All that lot,” Jayce jumped to answer– almost excited about it.

He– wasn't exactly wrong? All the past women that Caitlyn had flirted with in cafes, or clubs, or bars, had fallen under that type.

 But her past relationships?

Nothing of the sort.

Her eyebrows furrowed, opening her mouth to make a reply, “How did you–” before she was abruptly cut off by the man in front of her.

“You're not exactly very subtle when you sneak off with women at the bar.”

Right.”

Please, Cait? It's been so long since you last saw someone–” Jayce was promptly shut up by the slamming of Caitlyn's hand over his mouth at the mention of her last relationship, not really in the mood to talk about it currently. Then, seconds later, she removed the hand, allowing Jayce to breathe properly once more.

“I—” Caitlyn couldn't believe she was actually considering this, slamming her eyes closed and taking a heavy breath in, slowly letting it back out through her nostrils. “ Fine.”

Jayce beamed at her response, throwing his arms over her shoulders and wrapping her into his embrace. “Thank you! You won't regret it, I promise.”

“Just once.” she made sure to remind him, almost strangled by the way that Jayce's thick arms encapsulated her entire body.

But, of course, Jayce just always had to question it– “What if you like her?”

“We’ll cross that bridge when we get there.”

“Okay.” Jayce pulled his arms away, grin still hideously present.

The following day, Caitlyn groaned as she woke up– sun blaring through her curtains, much too bright for the early morning. She stumbled out of bed, reminding herself of the plans she had made with Jayce, getting somewhat ready.

She had an array of swimsuits and bikinis in her rather large wardrobe, most of which she had never even worn in her life , including the simple one that rested in the middle of them all– a pretty shade of purple. Caitlyn took the bikini, holding it up against her bare skin in the mirror, really trying to understand what it would look like.

The colour suited her– in fact, it was almost perfect. She had always been complimented whenever wearing purple, apparently it was a shade that suited her; matched her skin, looked pretty next to her hair– and, currently, it matched her nails, too. She then threw the garment on, taking a second to gawk in the mirror upon the realisation that it was actually very revealing.

Caitlyn tightened up the little drawstring on the top piece, hoping that maybe that would give her a little more coverage. But no, all it did was refine the outline of her breasts even more; giving a painfully clear view of her cleavage, and the few moles that sat atop her skin there. She huffed, taking another look at herself in the mirror before  realising that– hey , she actually looked kinda good.

Flashing herself a quick grin, she threw on a white, cotton over shirt, slinging it over her shoulders so that the outfit didn't look quite as revealing as it had only mere seconds ago, pairing that with a duo of white, wedged heels.

She made her way over to the dressing table, sitting down, not bothering to do her makeup as it would most likely just get washed off anyway – instead reaching for her hair curler. She curled the ends of her hair a little, allowing them to sit a little prettier on her shoulders, before reaching towards her jewellery box for the most important part; accessories.

Caitlyn grabbed two, golden bracelets– ones which matched the intricate little loops and hoops of her bikini, pushing them up each of her arms. And then, she added the final piece, the completing item of the whole outfit; a white, brimmed hat with a loop of purple ribbon wrapped around it, her sunglasses sat atop.

Jayce appeared at the door only a few minutes later, the hefty sound of his knocking reverberating throughout her apartment. She let out one final sigh– bracing herself for the nightmare ahead– before exiting alongside her best friend.

The beach was.. okay.

It was nice enough– definitely could have been nicer, but overall, not the worst place she'd ever visited. Caitlyn, however, still hated the sand, and quite frankly could not care less about the sea, so it felt like a waste of a day.

She just.. sat there , drinking slushie after slushie from the little shack nearby, the flavour barely even feeling real against her tongue anymore.

Jayce had spent most of his time out at sea, dragging Viktor out there with him so that they could paddle together for a bit. It was a little sweet to watch– the way Jayce stared at his partner with such absolute adoration, but it ultimately left Caitlyn feeling like she had just been brought there to third wheel, much like she had expected.

And then, all of a sudden, his head snapped upwards– looking towards the path beyond where Caitlyn had been sitting , murmuring something towards Viktor as the two of them waded out of the water. She raised an eyebrow, watching as they both walked straight past her– Jayce raising his hand to wave at someone.

Caitlyn, confused out of her mind, swung her head around, and–

Wow, that was the most handsome lifeguard she'd ever seen.

Jayce hadn't been lying when he said she was exactly Caitlyn’s type– tall, and yet a few inches shorter than she was herself, muscular, very muscular, and– maybe handsome wasn't the best description, because she was fucking gorgeous.

Jayce brought her over– nudging at her burly arms as they teased and joked, before finally stopping at Caitlyn's picnic blanket. Caitlyn looked up, and her breath caught in her throat at the absolute sight of her.

Face slightly freckled, skin tanned, white tank top wrapped far too tightly against her rather robust chest, red shorts hung loosely around her waist.

Did the sun somehow just get hotter?

“Oh, right! Vi, this is my friend I’ve been telling you about,” Jayce beamed, sun shining down on him as he nodded downwards– in the direction of Caitlyn, who was currently losing her shit.

And Caitlyn almost choked, taking a few seconds to struggle on her words before shoving out a simple greeting, accompanied by a small wave. “Hi.”

Hey,” she husked out, grinning as she extended a hand downwards, towards where Caitlyn had been sitting.

And, god, even her voice was hot– low and balmy, ever so slightly gruff.

Caitlyn graciously accepted the hand, intertwining it with her own slightly sweaty fingers– figuring she could blame that on the heat if it was questioned.

Then, Vi separated their hands, pulling her own back to her side, before finally letting her eyes roam over Caitlyn– checking her out a little more obviously than she had intended to. First, she allowed her gaze to run quickly all the way down, before coming back up again– and then going straight down once more. This time, however, on the way back up, she paused for a moment to stare. And when Caitlyn followed her eye line, she realised Vi was staring straight at her chest. Vi blinked once– then twice – then three whole times , each time, her eyes grew ever so slightly wider before she quickly shook her head, bringing her eyes back up to Caitlyn's face.

Caitlyn was sure her whole body was flushed now, with the way that the slightly itchy bikini fabric burned against her skin– the thin, cotton shirt that hung loosely against her shoulders suddenly very tight.

A new streak of confidence now swelling in her chest, Caitlyn mumbled out a teasing retort, “Is something the matter?” she asked, feigning innocence, tilting her head as she did so.

Vi sputtered a little before she spoke– cheeks ever so slightly flushed, “No, no – just.. Purple suits you,” was the response she settled on

Caitlyn flashed a wide, gap-toothed grin, “So I’ve heard.”

“Well– uhm.. I’ve got– a shift, now..” Vi, now suddenly awkward, muttered out while scratching the back of her head, “I'll be seeing you around?”

Caitlyn’s face fell a little– she still didn't really like the beach, despite the hot lifeguard that worked there. Maybe she’d get used to it? But.. she'd really rather not.

“Well, I’m not too sure about that–”

Noticing how disheartened Caitlyn had gotten at the suggestion, Vi offered an alternative, “Then why don't you take my number?” she suggested– pulling her phone out of her pocket, before realising that she hadn't asked if Caitlyn were on the same page with this whole.. thing. “I mean, only if you want–”

“I do.” Caitlyn jumped at the chance, before realising how eager she may have come across, trying to remedy her words, “I mean– that would be very nice, thank you.”

“Cool.” Vi smiles, showing Caitlyn a string of numbers on her phone– which she promptly copied down into her notes app, labelling the contact as the sun emoji for the time being, unsure of what else to name it.

Cool,” Caitlyn repeated– swiftly flicking the ‘Off’ switch of her phone, allowing Vi to pull the screen away so that she could proceed to shove it back into her back pocket.

“I really gotta head off now, though, before my manager kicks my ass– be sure to message, okay?”

“Yeah– I will.” Caitlyn confirmed, nodding as she did so– eyes still cast upwards, gaze locked with Vi’s.

Caitlyn swore she saw a small flicker of dejection cast itself onto Vi’s face for a second or two– before she quickly spun around, running in the opposite direction to where Caitlyn had been sitting.

Jayce watched Vi make her grand escape, hauling herself over to some colleagues– handing out high fives and hugs before she clambered her way up the lifeguard’s chair. “Cait?” he called out, now rather curious about what she thought of the whole interaction.

Caitlyn just stared off into the distance, eyes transfixed on Vi, who, upon noticing Caitlyn’s stares, shot her a wink– smirking as she did so.

She thought she almost melted under the attention, eyes widening once Vi turns back away, returning to her job. Then, seconds later, she realised that she still needed to reply to Jayce.

Caitlyn, still going through it, threw her head into her pale hands and let out the longest groan she’d ever let out. “Please don't talk to me for the next five hours.” she managed to mumble out, deciding that it'd be better to give herself some time to panic over Vi before telling Jayce– out of fear that she'd turn into some sort of gay mess, spewing out about all the cute little details and intricacies of Vi that she was thoroughly interested in.

Right.” Jayce, ever so slightly suspicious, confirmed. “Well– me and V will be over at the sea, we’ll head home once the sun starts to set.”

Caitlyn ripped her head out of her hands, nodding affirmatively before staring at the floor beneath her– trying to get her brain back in order.

An incredulously tough task.

A few hours had since passed, and Caitlyn was now sat rather comfortably in the driver's seat of her car, Jayce next to her in the passenger's seat– glaring daggers into her skin; a poor attempt to gauge how she felt about it all.

Eventually, however, the tense silence became too much for him, filling him with the overwhelming need to ask about it, “So, what did you think of Vi?”

Caitlyn, who had just almost twisted the key of her car, paused for a second– fingers ghosting over the metal of it, very aware that she could not be having this conversation while driving; “Can I be painfully honest?”

Jayce frowned, furrowing his eyebrows, “You didn't like her?”

“No, Jayce, I need her carnally. ” Caitlyn confessed- hands still refusing to turn the key, ignoring the way her chest swelled upon the very mention of Vi.

Jayce’s eyes widened– shifting ever so slightly in response, fully expecting Caitlyn to either confess to how much she hated Vi, or cover up how she truly felt,  “So you'd see her again?”

Caitlyn took a second or two to hum to herself, fingers intertwined with the keychains on her car keys while she tried to come up with some sort of coherent response. “If she's not in my bed next time I see her I think I might die.”

Her dramatics pulled a slight chuckle from Jayce’s direction, “A little dramatic, there.”

“I’m serious.” Caitlyn confirmed once more, before her messy brain took over– prompting her to over share perhaps too much. “I— need her to do unspeakable things to me– or if she'd rather, I'd be happy to do them to her.”

A few seconds passed following the confession that escaped Caitlyn’s lips, before she reconsidered what she said– finishing it off,  “I don't even care actually, I just need her so bad.”

She didn't even want to look at Jayce– didn't want to see his probably incredibly shocked reaction to it all.

He had been proven right, yeah, but Caitlyn really wasn't sure she was grateful.

In fact, she was rather ungrateful , considering how certain she was that those grey eyes and tufts of pink hair would haunt her dreams in the following nights to come.

Wow.” was all Jayce managed to spit out, holding back a laugh,  “I don't think I’ve ever seen you like this.”

Caitlyn grumbled a little, shifting uncomfortably in her seat, brain screaming at her to just twist the key of her car and drive– but something stopped her.

“I don’t think I can drive home.”

“It’s that bad?” Only now did Jayce allow himself to laugh, almost giggling in response to Caitlyn’s utter misery.

“It is.” Caitlyn spat out, slamming her head against the top of the driver’s wheel, pulling back away when it let out a hideously loud ‘BEEEEP’ sound– alerting everyone nearby of her awful lesbian crush.

Fuck, it really is.”
