Work Text:
Oga never knew since when he’s been standing in front of the Soft Bun’s display case. He even looked carefully focused on the cashier putting freshly baked buns into the case with steam still coming out of them.
Unknowingly he pointed at one of them, “Is that the Habanero one?”
The cashier gave a simple yes and then Oga lifted up three fingers, “1 Habanero and 2 normal ones.”
Oga then marvels at the paper bag in his hand, looking carefully inside of the bag. The smell escaped and entered his senses and it made him smirk.
Another school year will come closer and Oga will be in his second year in a few days. It feels like a fever dream for him at the start of the school year. Destroying the school twice, almost dying, and almost letting the world burn because a certain baby demon is crying? Huft, that’s such an understatement for his journey but then again he had a good time.
Last winter Oga even got his first paycheck being Himekawa’s bodyguard, he could bring Beel and Hilda to Disneyland. Oh boy, Beel is so happy, Oga even didn’t hold him until he fell asleep at the end of the day. Also, Hilda’s face when she first saw Star wars? He swears he can’t admit to her that the lightsaber is not real but her eyes twinkle like when she saw a collection of Voodoo shits and for once she reacts properly to more mundane things. And for real Star Wars is that great to be a hyperfixation.
Oga arrived at his house greeted with his sister screaming, “What did you buy?”Oga shrugged and gave her a plastic bag he had carried before. An errand that she could do.
“You shampoo, gorilla. Whatever this shit is,”Before he even could step forward his sister tackled him and locked him in her arms.
“Misaki!”
“You dare to speak like that to your elder?!”
“Shut it, let go!”Misaki then lets go after Oga bitterly says his sorry. Then her eyes point at the paper bag in his other hand.
“You buy buns? Give me!”This time Oga towered over her sister. Since his last growth spurt he towers over her easily, a head or more from her. As she tried to grab the paper bag, Oga kept walking.
“This ones for Hilda and Beel, buy yourself a buns. Old hag!”he bark back at his sister then sprinted upstairs before Misaki buried him in their back yard.
Oga opens his room with a gleaming smile, “I’m home! I have some buns!”
No response. Oga stepped inside his room looking around and found Hilda’s leg at the end of the bed frame.
He hurried, secretly trying to prepare his mind, but Oga only found peace as he looked at Hilda and Beel curled up in his folden futon, dozing softly.
If anyone, not his friends, came and saw this very image of Hilda holding Beel in her arms and sleeping so peacefully, would agree they are just an ordinary mother and son.
Oga agreed too. Fuck Iris and that Immature Demon Lord King whatever, Beel is Hilda’s. No one can’t that away, blood or not. Hilda raised Beel and she did wonderfully.
Oga took the blanket from his bed and draped it with it. He looked carefully at them contemplating waking them up when the buns were still warm or just let them be.
In the end he chose the latter and fell asleep holding Hilda from behind. Joining them in afternoon nap.
