Work Text:
Taco watched as Microphone walked into the portal, officially forfeiting everything they had worked for. She didn't know what to do. Mic had been a big part of her life up until now, They had spent quite a bit of time together, She had become a factor in her everyday life.
Now, she’s gone.
Taco sank to the ground, mostly in thought, but also in shock.
She was really just gone like that huh? Such a weird thing, how someone can just vanish from your life like that.
Taco took in all of what could happen now, and it really looks bad from here. Firstly, everyone hates her. Second, once winter rolls around, she’ll have nowhere to go. The only reason she got through last winter is because Mic had smuggled her into her room.
Taco shuddered at the thought of spending all winter in the forest by herself. The frost will most definitely get her. She would go insane! But it seemed inevitable.
She looked up, The trees vibrant in the May air, flowers bloomed underneath her, such a beautiful time of the year, yet this will go down in her book at one of the worst moments in her life.
But that’s it.
Such a beautifully horrible moment.
Taco stood up, prepared to never see Mic again, and walked into the forest.
—----------
Three days later…
Taco sat at the tree stump where she and Mic used to sit, a bittersweet spot. She had been rotting there for the last 2 and a half days. It took a few hours of silence for everything to really dawn on her. More than she really realized before.
She felt hopeless, Mic was the one who she would first think of when she would get up in the morning. She was the reason she would get out of the forest. She was the reason for so much.
Taco has so much to say to her. Lots of it she was waiting for the right time, But now it will never arrive. She would have confessed so much to her if still had the chance. But by now she probably has the whole “kill on sight” rule drilled into her mind, and for good reason.
Taco let out a sigh before turning to her side. Grogginess ate at her as she moved.
That same spot where she lied was gonna become her grave if she didn't move soon.
Hunger was beginning to take its toll on her. She didn't eat often and only did when she needed to, but now that she's been sitting in the same spot for 3 days, refusing to eat, it's been hitting harder than it usually does.
She sighed as she felt tears prick in the corners of her eyes. This state she was in was downright pathetic. What happened to the big scary taco that everyone hated and feared?
Now she's rotting at the stump where she and friend met, stuck in a depressive state, which may lead to her despise.
Leafs drifted past her as she looked up at the sky. The moon full in the sky, painting the scene in a silver light. Stars twinkled, almost mocking her with their beauty. The eyeliner she was wearing dripped onto her cheeks, carried by her past tears.
The forest seemed so peaceful right now, Taco wished she could just melt into it and never return. But at last there she was, quietly sobbing to herself on the ground, the ants themselves were higher than her at this point.
Taco closed her eyes, wishing that this could be the end of some horrible nightmare. That it could all end right there and then.
But…
“Taco?”
Taco jumped up in surprise. She turned to see who had called her name at such a horrible time.
But at last…
It was Microphone.
“Mic! I- uhh-”
She rubbed her eyes in hope to make herself look like less of a mess. Her eyes were puffy from crying. And just her rotting had done a number on her, sight wise.
Taco finished fixing herself up and looked back at Mic. She never thought that she would see her again. But there she was, standing just outside of the small clearing that Taco “lived” in.
Microphone cleared her throat and walked up to Taco, with a serious expression. Taco took a step back, mostly in fear. Like she had thought before, Mic might have been influenced by the kill on sight rule.
She could be there to kill her.
“Mic wait-!”
“No Taco. I'm gonna say what I need to first. I want no influence from you as I say this.” Mic said back.
Taco’s eyes widened in surprise, Mic wasn’t taking any bullshit right now.
Nervously, Taco cuffed her hands together and took a shaky breath. She looked at Mic, signaling for her to take the spotlight. Taco nervously fidgeted with a ring she wore for decoration.
She watched Mic take a breath in before opening her mouth to talk.
“Taco, I'm not here to forgive you. But, I'm here for… a different reason.” Mic said.
Taco watched as Mic grabbed her hand, Taco took a sharp inhale of fear.
What was she gonna say? Will she kill me? Will this be the last time I see her?
“Taco, I deeply care for you. I want you to know this. But… look- …I like You , Taco. And not as friends. So that’s why I'm here. Just to do this…”
Mic grabbed Taco by the shoulders and pulled her to her face and kissed her. Taco flushed at what she had just done. Mic didn’t even let a word leave Taco, And that's what she intended.
Mic silently giggled at Taco at her udder surprise. But she was quickly surprised herself as Taco deepened the kiss.
They stood in this way for a few seconds, enjoying each other before Mic slightly opened her mouth, practically begging for Taco to enter. Taco quickly took the hint and let her tongue slip into Mic’s mouth. Mic let out a small moan as Taco began to explore. Mic moved her own tongue in a sad attempt at a fight of dominance.
Taco quickly over dominated Mic and let out a small moan as Mic moved one of her hands to Tacos back. Things were starting to get hot before…
Mic finally backed away.
Taco looked up, almost pleading for her to kiss her again.
A deep red blush was on Mic's face, But it quickly dimmed as she took a breath in and looked at Taco, the serious expression back.
“Taco, This will be the last time that you will see me.”
Taco felt her heart drop, just as she had gotten everything she wanted back and more, then she’s told it's being taken away. She opened her mouth to say something, but Mic quickly interrupted her.
“Look, at the hotel, I have good friends. Ones who won't go manipulate me, won't go behind my back. I care for you, Taco, but at this point you’re bad for me. You’re not doing me any good. I still love you, but…”
“Goodbye.”
And like that Mic got up and began to walk away.
Taco fumbled over her words. That's it? That’s the end?
“Mic, wait! I’m sorry…”
But it was too late.
Mic didn't even look back. She just continued to walk. Taco watched as Mic walked slowly into the distance. Never to be seen by her again.
So that's it.
The end.
The crisp May air filled Taco with an almost bitter feeling.
I would gladly give my heart to you.
But now, she could clearly see the future.
Taco looked around, The beautiful May weather makes a beautiful scene. Almost teasing her.
She knew that this weather won't last forever, and eventually will fade into a cold harsh winter.
She’ll have no one by her side.
She’ll be all alone in December, When the snow and cold will take over the earth.
All alone when Christmas returns for the year, a holiday that has almost completely lost its meaning. When the people that you care for the most come by.
Mic said she’ll still love Taco.
But for how long.
Will it last a lifetime? Or is it a simple lie to make me feel better?
When people get together, Out of love and care,
I ask you,
Mic,
Will you love me in December as you do in May?
