Sun-kissed

The city of London shone under the moonlight, but the night’s glow was not enough to hide the chaos left behind. Louis swung between the skyscrapers with precise movements, though his body ached with every pull of his webs. His suit was torn in several places, the left side burned from a shallow cut, and he could feel a bruise forming on his right thigh. It had been a tough fight.
The villain of the night—a lunatic in a metallic suit with explosive drones—had left more than just material damage. Louis had done his best to minimize the impact, getting civilians out of harm’s way and ensuring the buildings wouldn’t suffer irreparable structural damage. Now, the sounds of police sirens and ambulances echoed through the air, accompanied by the voices of reporters already covering the scene.
He could go home. He could take off his mask, shower, and collapse into bed. But no. There was only one place he really wanted to be.
Harry.
The thought of his boyfriend made him smile, though it was more of a tired grin than a genuine expression of happiness. With one last swing, he changed direction, leaving the disaster zone behind and heading for Harry’s apartment.
Harry’s place was on a quiet street, far enough from downtown that no one would suspect a superhero was about to land in one of its windows. Carefully, Louis clung to the frame with one hand, using the other to tap gently on the glass.
Inside, Harry was comfortably curled up in bed, wrapped in his favorite duvet with a half-drunk cup of tea on his nightstand. He had been watching a show, but his eyes felt heavy, and he was just about to fall asleep when a noise made him furrow his brow.
Tap, tap.
His heart skipped a beat.
What the hell?
He glanced at the window cautiously. His apartment was on the third floor, so unless an unusually aggressive bird had decided to bother him, there was no reason for anything to be knocking on his glass.
Tap, tap.
“What the hell?” he muttered, sitting up in bed and grabbing his phone in case he needed to call the cops.
With his heart racing, he got up and slowly approached the window. The last thing he expected to see was his boyfriend, hanging upside down, his Spider-Man suit in tatters, with a pleading look on his face.
“Holy shit, Louis!” Harry yelled, clutching his chest. “You almost gave me a heart attack!”
“Let me in,” Louis pleaded, his voice sounding more hurt than he tried to let on.
Harry, still recovering from the shock, frowned.
“Why should I?”
“Because I’m adorable, and I’m hurt.” Louis pouted slightly under the mask, though Harry couldn’t see it.
“Are you hurt?” The concern replaced his annoyance in an instant.
“Mmh… a little.”
Without hesitation, Harry opened the window.
Louis stumbled inside awkwardly, landing on the carpet with a muffled groan.
“Jesus, Lou!” Harry knelt beside him, his hands gently brushing over the damaged suit. “What happened to you?”
“You’ve got new carpet,” Louis murmured, ignoring the question as he ran a hand over the soft texture. “I like it.”
“Louis!”
“Alright, alright. I fought a bad guy, you know, the usual. But it’s not that serious.”
Harry sighed, clearly not convinced, and started pushing Louis to sit on the bed.
“Take off the mask.”
“I thought you liked the mystery.”
“Louis, take off the damn mask or I’ll rip it off.”
Louis chuckled quietly and obeyed, sliding it off to reveal his tired yet still charming face. Harry inhaled sharply when he saw the bruises that were already starting to form on his cheek and the cut on his eyebrow.
“Louis William Tomlinson,” he said, his voice full of reproach as he cupped his face in his hands. “Why do you always end up like this?”
Louis smiled tiredly, leaning slightly into his touch.
“Because I’m a hero, babe.”
Harry scoffed, but his eyes were filled with tenderness as he stroked his cheek with his thumb.
“You’re an idiot,” he whispered, before pressing a soft kiss to his forehead. “An idiot I love.”
Louis closed his eyes, savoring the warmth of the gesture.
“Are you going to pamper me now?”
“I’ll disinfect you first, and if you survive, maybe.”
Louis let his head drop onto Harry’s shoulder with a dramatic sigh.
“You’re ruining the romantic moment.”
Harry laughed, wrapping his arms around him gently.
“Come on, Spidey. Let me take care of you.”
Louis smiled against his skin, finally feeling at home.
Harry was finishing up treating the last wound on Louis’ side. His fingers, now stained with a slight trace of healing ointment, trembled a little as he smoothed it carefully over his boyfriend’s injured skin.
Louis, for his part, had closed his eyes for a moment, enjoying the warmth of Harry’s touch. It didn’t hurt as much as before, but he could still feel the heavy exhaustion in every muscle of his body. Still, nothing in the world could make him trade this moment: being with Harry, cared for so tenderly, was enough to make him forget how hard the fight had been tonight.
“You should take off the rest of the suit,” Harry murmured suddenly, frowning at him. “It’s torn and dirty… and you’ve got bruises on your legs too.”
Louis cracked one eye open with a mischievous smile.
“Are you asking me to strip, Styles?”
Harry shot him a sharp look.
“I’m asking you to stop being an idiot.”
Louis let out a soft laugh but obeyed, lifting his hips slightly to peel off the remaining spandex. He was left in just his boxers, no trace of his identity as Spider-Man, and sighed as he felt the softness of Harry’s bed against his skin.
“God, this feels better than any skyscraper in New York.”
Harry rolled his eyes.
“We’re in London.”
“Whatever.”
Harry shook his head but couldn’t help the small smile tugging at his lips. He got up and walked to his closet, pulling out one of his cleanest, biggest hoodies.
“Put this on,” he said, tossing it to Louis.
Louis caught it effortlessly, raising an eyebrow as he inspected it.
“You want me to wear your clothes?”
Harry crossed his arms.
“You like wearing my clothes.”
“True, but I usually steal them when you’re not looking.”
Harry sighed and sat on the edge of the bed while Louis slipped the hoodie over his head. It fit loosely, covering most of his body, and the scent of Harry lingering in the fabric made him smile.
“Now I really feel at home,” he said, settling more comfortably into the bed.
Harry watched him in silence for a few seconds before letting out a sigh.
“Louis…”
“Yeah, love?”
Harry lowered his gaze, fidgeting with a loose thread on his pajama pants.
“I don’t want to sound like a broken record, but… I worry about you.”
Louis’ expression softened.
“I know.”
“It’s just… every time you go out to fight those guys, every time the news shows explosions or wrecked cars downtown, every time someone says Spider-Man was in a tough battle… I feel like my heart stops.”
Louis swallowed thickly.
Harry looked up, meeting his boyfriend’s blue eyes.
“And then you show up here, hurt, covered in cuts and bruises, acting like it’s nothing… and all I want to do is hold you so tight you’ll never leave this room again.”
Louis felt a lump in his throat.
“Then do it.”
Harry blinked.
“What?”
Louis opened his arms.
“Hold me. As tight as you want.”
Harry hesitated for a second before moving onto the bed, curling up against Louis’ body with the utmost care. He wrapped his arms around his torso and buried his face in his chest, taking a deep breath.
Louis let out a sigh of relief, enclosing Harry in his own arms.
“You have no idea how much I love this,” Louis murmured into Harry’s curls.
Harry smiled weakly.
“Yeah, I can tell you have a problem with physical affection.”
“Only when it’s with you.”
Harry lifted his head and stared at Louis.
“I love you, Lou, but…”
“I know.”
“No, listen. I love you, but if you keep coming home this beat up, I swear next time I’ll make you sleep on the couch.”
Louis let out a laugh, which quickly turned into a groan because his ribs still hurt.
“You could never make me sleep on the couch. You’d miss me too much.”
Harry stared at him for a second before scoffing.
“You’re impossible, Tomlinson.”
Louis grinned and kissed his nose.
“But I’m your impossible Tomlinson.”
Harry let out a soft laugh and rested his head against his chest again.
“Close your eyes and get some rest, Spidey.”
Louis exhaled, feeling his body relax completely.
“Only if you stay here.”
Harry ran his fingers through his hair.
“I’m not going anywhere.”
And with their hearts beating in sync, Louis finally allowed himself to sleep, knowing he was in the only place where he truly felt safe.
Hours later, Louis woke up with a strange feeling in his chest. It wasn’t pain exactly, but a warm sensation, something that only happened when Harry was close.
Louis slowly opened his eyes and, just as he expected, found him there.
Harry was still asleep on his chest, lips slightly parted, curls messily falling over his forehead. His breathing was soft and steady, and his body remained curled around Louis as if afraid he would disappear.
Louis smiled, feeling incredibly lucky.
Carefully, he brought a hand to Harry’s back and ran it slowly up and down. Harry stirred a little, mumbling something unintelligible before snuggling even closer to him.
“Hm, warm…” he murmured sleepily.
Louis held back a laugh.
“You too, love.”
Harry let out a quiet grunt in response and shifted again, this time burying his nose in Louis’ neck.
“Lou…” he mumbled, his voice thick with sleep.
“I’m right here, baby,” Louis whispered, pressing a kiss to the top of his head.
“You need to stop playing the self-sacrificing superhero…” Harry murmured against his skin. “I hate seeing you hurt.”
Louis let out a sigh.
“I know, but someone has to do it.”
Harry frowned, his eyes still closed.
“Why does it have to be you?”
Louis smiled softly, running his fingers through Harry’s curls.
“Because if I don’t do it, someone else will. And if I can stop someone else from getting hurt, I will.”
Harry didn’t respond right away. He simply stayed quiet, his warm breath against Louis’ neck.
“I still hate it,” he finally said in a low voice. “But I hate the idea of losing you even more.”
Louis felt something tighten in his chest.
“I won’t let that happen, Hazza.”
Harry finally opened his eyes and looked up at him with a frown.
“It’s not just up to you, Louis. No matter how strong you are or how many webs you have, some things are out of your control.”
Louis swallowed thickly.
Harry sighed and lifted a hand, touching his cheek gently.
“I don’t want to fight, but… promise me you’ll at least be more careful.”
Louis met his green eyes, filled with a mixture of love and worry, and knew he could never deny him anything.
“I promise.”
Harry held his gaze for a few seconds before nodding, seemingly satisfied.
“Good.”
Louis smiled.
“Good? That’s it?”
Harry shrugged.
“For now.”
Louis let out a laugh and pulled him even closer.
“God, I love you.”
Harry smiled against his skin.
“I know.”
They stayed silent for a few more minutes, enjoying the calm of the morning, until Louis’s stomach suddenly growled.
Harry raised an eyebrow.
“Was that you?”
Louis shifted uncomfortably.
“Maybe.”
Harry smirked.
“When was the last time you ate?”
Louis looked away.
“I don’t know… yesterday, maybe.”
Harry pulled away abruptly.
“WHAT!?”
Louis winced.
“I was busy.”
Harry shot him a glare before getting out of bed.
“No, no, no. This can’t be. You avoided sleeping on the couch, but you won’t escape a proper breakfast.”
Louis smiled, watching his boyfriend march towards the kitchen with determination.
“Are you going to cook for me?”
Harry looked over his shoulder.
“Yes. And I don’t want to hear a single complaint.”
Louis raised his hands in surrender.
“I’m not complaining. I’m just excited to see my gorgeous boyfriend in action.”
Harry rolled his eyes, but Louis caught the blush on his cheeks before he disappeared through the door.
Louis sighed with a smile and let himself fall back onto the bed.
Nothing in the world could be better than this.
Louis stretched on the bed, his muscles still sore from last night’s fight, but nothing compared to what he had felt before sleeping. He rubbed his eyes and listened to the sound of pans clattering in the kitchen. He smiled.
Harry was in chef mode.
With some effort, he got up and walked barefoot to the kitchen, still wearing his boyfriend’s oversized sweatshirt. He leaned against the doorway, a smirk tugging at his lips as he watched Harry move a spatula with intense focus, his messy curls falling over his face, his pajama top slipping slightly off his shoulders.
“Look at my handsome chef,” Louis murmured with a lazy grin.
Harry startled, nearly dropping the spatula.
“Louis!” he scolded, pressing a hand to his chest. “Don’t do that, you almost gave me a heart attack.”
Louis chuckled and walked up to him, wrapping his arms around him from behind.
“I can’t help it. I like watching you in the kitchen,” he whispered against his neck, pressing a kiss there.
Harry shivered slightly but tried to keep his composure.
“Don’t make me burn the pancakes, Tomlinson.”
Louis grinned against his skin.
“But they smell amazing.”
Harry huffed but let Louis hold him as he finished cooking.
A few minutes later, he set two plates of pancakes on the table. Louis sat down in front of him, looking delighted, while Harry crossed his arms, waiting for a verdict.
Louis cut a piece with his fork, brought it to his mouth, and let out a dramatic moan.
“God, Harry… I’m going to marry you.”
Harry laughed and rolled his eyes.
“Shut up and eat.”
Louis obeyed but never stopped smiling as he devoured his breakfast.
Harry watched him fondly for a moment before focusing on his own plate.
“Do you have to go out tonight?” he asked after a while, his tone quieter.
Louis chewed slowly before answering.
“Not if you don’t want me to.”
Harry played with his fork against the plate.
“I want you to rest. But I also know I can’t ask you to stop doing what you do.”
Louis took his hand over the table, brushing his thumb over his knuckles.
“I’m staying with you tonight. I promise.”
Harry looked up, studying him for a few seconds before nodding.
“Good.”
Louis smiled and intertwined their fingers.
“We can watch movies. Eat popcorn. And maybe…”
Harry raised an eyebrow.
“Maybe what?”
Louis tilted his head with a mischievous smile.
“Maybe I’ll steal a few kisses.”
Harry gasped in mock offense.
“A few?”
Louis shrugged.
“Okay, a lot.”
Harry let out a soft laugh and squeezed his hand.
“That sounds like a good plan.”
Louis leaned over the table and pressed a quick kiss to his lips.
“The best plan.”
After breakfast, Louis and Harry stayed at the table, enjoying the peaceful morning. Harry still had Louis’s hand in his, absentmindedly tracing his fingers with his thumb. Louis adored moments like this, when everything felt so simple and natural between them, as if the entire world disappeared when they were together.
“So, what movie do you want to watch?” Harry asked, leaning back in his chair.
Louis tapped a finger against his chin, pretending to be deep in thought.
“Well, we could watch a horror movie, that way you’ll get scared and cling to me the whole time…”
Harry scoffed.
“Please, if anyone’s getting scared here, it’s you.”
Louis gasped, offended.
“That is an absolute lie!”
Harry raised an eyebrow.
“Oh, really? Then why did you sleep with the lights on last time we watched The Conjuring ?”
Louis narrowed his eyes at him.
“That was a special case. The movie had really loud sound effects.”
Harry laughed, nudging him lightly under the table with his foot.
“Sure, whatever you say, Spider-Man.”
Louis grinned. He loved seeing Harry like this—relaxed, playful.
“If not horror, then what do you want to watch?”
Harry thought for a moment before shrugging.
“Something sweet.”
Louis raised an eyebrow.
“Sweet?”
“Yeah, something without explosions, fights, or superheroes climbing buildings.”
Louis pretended to be offended.
“Hey!”
Harry burst out laughing.
“I love you, Lou, but I don’t need to watch another Spider-Man movie when I already have the Spider-Man in my kitchen.”
Louis grinned and stood up, walking around the table to wrap his arms around Harry’s shoulders from behind.
“You’re so lucky.”
Harry rolled his eyes but made no effort to push him away.
“Come on, just pick something so we can go to bed.”
Louis smiled, pressing a quick kiss to his cheek before heading to the living room, where they kept the TV and a pile of DVDs that Harry insisted on buying despite having both Netflix and Disney+.
After a brief debate, Harry ended up choosing Pride and Prejudice . Louis teased him about it, but secretly, he enjoyed watching it with him because Harry always got way too excited over the romantic scenes.
They settled in bed, with Harry curled up against Louis’s chest as the movie started. At first, Louis tried to focus, but the warmth of Harry’s body against his and the scent of his shampoo distracted him.
Harry noticed his lack of attention and elbowed him gently.
“Pay attention.”
Louis smiled against his hair.
“I am paying attention. It’s just that…” He leaned in slightly and whispered near his ear, “You’re distracting me.”
Harry shivered and frowned at him.
“Don’t use your sexy voice in the middle of Pride and Prejudice , Louis.”
Louis let out a laugh.
“My sexy voice?”
“Yes. The one you do when you’re trying to flirt.”
Louis feigned surprise.
“Trying to flirt? Harry, baby, I always flirt with you.”
Harry sighed and shook his head, but his smile gave him away.
“I should’ve picked a movie you actually care about.”
“I do care about this movie,” Louis said, shifting to get more comfortable. “I just also care about you.”
Harry huffed but let Louis hold him tighter.
The movie continued, and Louis made an effort to focus… until he noticed that Harry had been too quiet for a while. He glanced down and found him blinking slowly, his eyes barely staying open.
“Are you sleepy, love?”
Harry made a small noise of protest.
“No…”
“Yes, you are,” Louis smiled, rubbing his back gently. “Just go to sleep, baby.”
Harry pursed his lips.
“But… the movie…”
“We’ve seen it like three times. It’s not going anywhere.”
Harry sighed, finally giving in.
“You’re right… just for a little while.”
Louis kissed his hair.
“Just a little while.”
It didn’t take long for Harry to fall asleep, breathing softly against Louis’ chest.
Louis stayed awake a little longer, gently stroking his hair and watching him with a smile on his lips.
And as he watched him sleep, he knew with certainty that he would do anything to protect him. Always.
Louis stayed awake for a while longer, holding Harry against his chest, enjoying the warmth of his body and the way his calm breathing made his chest rise and fall with a steady rhythm. In moments like this, it was hard to believe his life had two such different sides: the normal guy, Harry’s boyfriend, who spent afternoons watching movies, and the hero swinging through the city, fighting criminals.
And even though Harry accepted all of him, Louis knew there was always a small fear in his boyfriend—a fear that one day he wouldn’t come back.
Louis tightened his embrace and kissed the top of Harry’s head, as if silently promising that he would always return.
When Louis woke up, the room was already dark, and the TV screen was showing the player’s home screen. Harry was still curled up against him, with one of his legs tangled between Louis’s, as if even in his sleep, he was trying to keep him close.
Louis smiled and slowly slid a hand down Harry’s back.
“Baby, wake up,” he murmured softly.
Harry groaned in protest and clung to him even more.
“Five more minutes…”
Louis laughed.
“You’ve already slept almost three hours, babe.”
Harry made an unintelligible sound but eventually opened his eyes slowly.
“Why didn’t you wake me up earlier?”
“Because you looked too cute.”
Harry blinked a couple of times and then pouted.
“It’s not fair. If I fall asleep, we don’t spend time together.”
Louis smiled and kissed his forehead.
“But you’re with me now, right?”
Harry huffed but couldn’t help but smile.
“Yeah… I guess so.”
Louis looked at him for a moment and then decided to ask him something that had been on his mind for a while.
“H, can I ask you something?”
Harry looked up, curious.
“Always.”
Louis wet his lips.
“When did you know I was the one?”
Harry blinked, surprised by the question.
“The one for what?”
Louis rolled his eyes with a smile.
“For you, silly. When did you know you wanted to be with me?”
Harry thought for a moment and then smiled sideways.
“I think I knew when I realized that every time something good or bad happened to me, the first thing I wanted to do was tell you about it.”
Louis felt his heart melt.
“You’re such a softie.”
Harry shrugged.
“Learned it from you.”
Louis laughed softly and hugged him tighter.
“Then we’re screwed because I’m the one who’s more in love here.”
Harry gasped, pretending to be offended.
“Excuse me? I’m completely in love with you, Louis.”
“Yeah, but I love you more.”
“No. I love you more.”
Louis raised an eyebrow.
“Oh, really? Want to bet on that?”
Harry grinned mischievously.
“Yes.”
Louis leaned in, narrowing his eyes.
“Alright, Styles. Get ready, because I’m going to prove it to you every single day of our lives.”
Harry narrowed his eyes too.
“I’ll hold you to that, Tomlinson.”
They stared at each other in silence for a moment, until both of them broke into smiles. Louis leaned in and captured Harry’s lips in a soft, sweet kiss, full of promises.
Harry gripped his hoodie and sighed against his lips.
“Stay with me tonight.”
Louis smiled.
“Always.”
And that was the biggest truth of all. No matter what happened in his life as Spider-Man, no matter the villains, the risks, or the wounds, Louis would always find his way back to Harry.
Because he was his home.
The End.
