My Way To Your Heart
The first rays of the sunrise made Jean-Luc’s eyes open up slowly. Seven in the morning, his watch said it was. A decent time to start the day. He got up and walked over to his window, seeing the light peek over the horizon. A spectacular sight that would forever make him appreciate being an early bird.
It’s funny. Jean-Luc figured that, due to the winter time, there would be more rain and colder weather with less sun, and although the latter was slightly true, he had been getting a healthy amount of sunshine. Thanks to his thicker coat, he was normally okay with either a vest or sweater outside. Or rather, jumper.
Australian English was still new to him at times, but it would never stop him from trying to get used to all the slang and different words, because it meant that he would always have a chance to impress a certain someone with how much he knew.
A certain blue heeler.
Ah, Bluey…
Thoughts of the sweet girl flooded his mind. Her reaction upon seeing him… her birthday celebration yesterday was one he would remember forever. They would be some of the best memories of their lives.
And the kiss they shared under the night sky… she truly lit up his night sky.
He’s heard Bluey was a bit of a deep sleeper, plus she enjoyed her sleep. Queens needed their beauty sleep after all… whoa, where did that thought just come from?
Had he really fallen so deeply for her in such a short amount of time?
It might be a bit too early to use the L word for it, but Jean-Luc was sure it wasn’t just a crush at this point. Throughout the long months of being away, there wasn’t a day, there wasn’t a place where she didn’t cross his mind, or get reminders of her.
It was so weird… at first, as a kid, on rare occasions he’d see her in his dreams, not knowing whether or not those memories were accurate. He knew Bluey was real, especially after knowing that the faces you dream about are real ones. But seeing her again now… it hit so much more different.
And Bluey ended up becoming the most beautiful girl he’s ever seen in his life.
The moment he saw her again at the campsite… it’s like time stopped. Like ten years never passed… he still remembered. And this time was different. But… it also wasn’t.
Those days, it felt like he was a kid all over again. That made this goodbye so much harder.
Aaaaand he was thinking about her again. Jeez, years apart and the first time he sees her again, she doesn’t leave his mind? Jean-Luc was aware he had a massive crush on her, but what was the line between a crush and…
… something more?
It was these thoughts that prevented the labrador from falling back asleep. Plus the rays of the sun shining through the blinds. So what better way to pass the time than with some video games? Besides, while he brought his work laptop along, Jean-Luc also brought along his gaming laptop.
Racing games - especially the Forza Horizon and Forza Motorsport series - were games he could spend hours on without getting bored. While he may not be old enough to drive yet, he had a vast knowledge of vehicles, especially high-performance vehicles. Jean-Luc had the opportunity to sit in a McLaren sports car when he was a younger boy at an autoshow, and the brand has held a special place in his heart since.
A glance at the time revealed it had already been an hour and a half since he started playing. Considering the third Horizon game takes place in Australia, he blazed along the map within the game joyously, taking in the parallels to the game and the real world. Of course it wasn’t accurate - but that didn’t matter.
He couldn’t help but send a text to his favorite heeler. She should be awake by now.
Jean-Luc: Bonjooour~ ❤️
Bluey: wow, what a way to greet a gal 😊 good morning! ❤️
Bluey: greet*
Jean-Luc: I couldn’t help myself 😘
Jean-Luc: Do you want to hang out today? Maybe explore the city?
Bluey: i’d love to! what time were you thinking?
Jean-Luc: Let’s say… two in the afternoon?
Bluey: it’s a date 😘❤
Jean-Luc: Great! See you then!
Bluey: cya Jean-Luc!
Jean-Luc had the biggest grin on his face as he ended his texting. Already, the afternoon couldn’t come quick enough. Until then, he’d have to find a way to pass the time. Looking outside, the weather was looking nice, so he figured a walk would be good.
He saw Mackenzie as he headed downstairs. “Someone couldn’t sleep, huh? Good morning, Mackenzie!”
His housemate looked back at him and smiled widely. “G’day, JL! Yeah, insomnia sucks. Want a coffee?”
“Oui, s'il vous plaît.”
“I’m assuming that means yes please?” The border collie asked with a tilted head, to which Jean-Luc chuckled.
“Yes, yes it does.”
“At this rate, you’re gonna teach me more French than school.”
“Oh, please.” He waved Mackenzie off. “I’m no teacher.”
“If you’re already able to passively teach me some French, then I’d say that already makes you a good enseignant.”
“Okay, 100% it was Bluey who taught you that.”
Mackenzie stopped his coffee-making and looked back at Jean-Luc with a playful glare. “Do you want this coffee or not, Jean-Luc?”
“What if I say no?” Jean-Luc said, smug himself.
“Well, guess I’m having two coffees.”
“Your mom wouldn’t allow that…”
“Oh, we’re snitching now?!” Mackenzie almost burst into laughter. “Come get your coffee already, you dumbass. No, I’m not bringing it over to you. Drag your lazy ass here.”
“Fine, fine.” Jean-Luc stood up and took a sip. “Ever thought of becoming a barista, bro?”
“Why, is my coffee that good?”
“Honestly, yeah. I’m dead serious, you make a great coffee.”
“Heh, thanks, JL. I appreciate it.” Mackenzie took a sip of his own coffee. “Anything planned today?”
“Well… a hangout with Bluey.”
“So you two are a thing now?”
Though it was always pressurizing when anyone asked him how he and Bluey were doing, he always felt obliged to answer. To Mackenzie’s question, he let out a sigh, but before he could answer…
“Ah, sorry, sorry. I told myself I wouldn’t pressure you on it anymore. Go at your own pace.”
“No no no, it’s okay. Well…” Jean-Luc sighed. “Okay, admittedly, it was annoying in the past. But…” He smiled. “I want to discuss that with her today. Maybe… maybe we will be a thing.”
Mackenzie smiled warmly. “I know you’ll make her happy, Jean-Luc.”
“Thank you, Mackenzie.” Jean-Luc scratched his head. “I, uhh… didn’t go too far back there, did I?”
“What do you mean?”
“The, uhh… bickering wasn’t too much?”
“I should be asking you that, honestly. Me, I live for these kinds of interactions. There’s never any malice behind them, it’s always all in good fun, right?” Jean-Luc nodded. “So we’re okay then, dude.”
The two boys fist bumped and finished up their coffee. It was after the coffee that Jean-Luc decided to go for that walk. After putting on a jumper and bidding his mate farewell, he stepped outside. A bit of a chilly, but crisp air, with plenty of sunshine. Perfect.
The coffee and morning walk would be a great combo to wake him up.
Bluey was on a high.
The moment her eyes fluttered open that morning… her thoughts were flooded with him.
Her boy. Her Jean-Luc.
Was yesterday just a dream…? It couldn’t have been. Everything was so… vivid yesterday. That, and the texts she got a few minutes after waking up proved he was finally with her again. And… that they kissed.
They kissed.
She subconsciously put a finger to her lips, and felt a giddy smile grow on her face, before she took her pillow and squealed into it, kicking her feet up and down.
It was real. It was so real. And already, she could barely wait for the afternoon to come. Bluey let out a dreamy sigh as she smiled widely. She looked at the time to see it was around eleven… two o’clock couldn’t come soon enough!
Suddenly, another text message came. She expected Jean-Luc to text her again, but this time, it was Mackenzie.
Mackenzie: ur dad would want u to keep the doors open this afternoon 😏
Bluey: oh screw you!!! 😭💀
Mackenzie: 🤣🫵
What a dumbass!
And yet, Bluey couldn’t help but laugh out loud, despite her red face. Fortunately, she didn’t have to go through the everyday difficulty Jean-Luc would have to, being his roommate. She prayed for his innocent soul.
In any case, Bluey’s parents weren’t home right now, so considering Jean-Luc will be coming over soon, she figured she might as well tidy up the house a bit. The house has to be presentable, after all. Excited, Bluey got to cleaning up right away.
She put her headphones on - so as to make it fun, and later on, drown out the loud vacuum sounds - and she got to work. Starting in the kitchen, she packed away the contents of the dishwasher, before putting in the dishes from the sink, her parents would be grateful.
Afterward came what she liked the least - dusting. She took a dust cloth and swept every corner of the house she could, from the living room to the foyer to the kitchen, as so on. It would be dreadful for her normally, as she had a tendency to miss small details. Knowing Jean-Luc would come over though, plus the music she had on, made her much more willing to clean.
She got to her room and dusted there, before heading over to Bingo’s room, which… was still closed. Strange. Bingo didn’t normally sleep in. Maybe she didn’t sleep well and was catching up on sleep? Either way, Bluey shrugged it off and figured she could come back later.
Now came the vacuuming. Her sensitive ears had trouble handling the loud vacuum cleaner sounds, so she always wore headphones when it was her turn, to suppress the loud sounds. Normally tedious and far too long to do such a chore, this time around she had a skip in her step as she cleaned, humming along to a song Socks had shown her not long ago. EDM normally wasn’t her thing, but this one had a nice, cheerful melody to it. It gave her energy.
Before she knew it, it was twenty minutes to two. He would be here soon. Nearly all the rooms were done, she even cleaned up her parents’ room just because. She handled her room, then wanted to do Bingo’s. Still closed. She couldn’t help but feel annoyed, so she knocked on the door.
There was no response, so she slowly opened the door. The curtains were closed, and Bingo was laying in her bed, blanket over her. Her fur looked very messy.
“Bingo?”
“Eep!”
Bingo suddenly scrambled to recompose herself. “B-B-Bluey! So-sorry, I-I overslept a little.” Bluey heard her sniffle.
“What’s going on…?”
“Wha… what do you mean?” She wasn’t looking at her.
“Bingo…” Bluey walked over to her and put a hand on her shoulder, making Bingo finally look at her. Her eyes were completely bloodshot. She had been crying.
“Bingo…” Bluey repeated, more sympathy in her voice. That sympathy was all Bingo needed to start sniffling again.
“I miss her, Bluey.” Bingo whispered. “I miss her so much.”
She smiled at her, and with a whisper of “Come here.” Bluey hugged her sister, getting a couple of silent sobs out of her.
“Sorry…” Bingo muttered after a few minutes. “I’m such a mess…”
“Don’t worry about it, mate.” Bluey answered. “Want to come outside to talk for a few minutes?”
Bingo nodded. Cleaning her room can wait. She needed support right now.
“I don’t want to be frustrated about it, you know?”
The girls sat on the porch, each having a cup of tea in hand. The main reason why Bluey felt her heartstrings be tugged on a lot as Bingo told her reasons was because of how many parallels there were between their stories.
Bingo sighed, taking a sip of her tea. “She’s… not even that far away. We’re still in the same country. I will see her again. Heck, I get to see her every day on video. And I know that day when she comes back closes in every day. But… if that’s the case…” She looked at Bluey. “Why does it still hurt so bad?”
“You know the answer to that.” Bluey gently said. “When your heart grows fond of someone, especially to the level yours has with Lila… of course you don’t want them to be far away from you. Seeing them on video is one thing, physically being with them is another.”
“I guess I know exactly how you feel now, huh…?” Bingo said with a humorless chuckle.
“Yeah. And I wish that wasn’t the case. I guess that’s just how life goes sometimes…”
Bingo nodded. “At this rate, it’s nothing I haven’t heard before. I think at this rate, we both have.”
“Doesn’t make it any easier, though. Sometimes you have those days when you feel like you can do anything, but then at the same time, you just… want to do nothing all day. I missed him so much. It was later I realized I wanted nothing more than for him to be here.” Bluey said, looking down at her reflection in her tea.
“Lila helped with that, huh?”
“Honestly, I don’t think I would’ve realized how much I wanted him in my life until Lila told me about her parents’ experiences. That gal truly is a gem.”
Bingo’s tail wagged, while her face turned red. “Tell me about it…” she bashfully whispered.
“Hey… you’re doing great, Bingo. The fact that you’re still messaging her, still keeping in contact with her, hearing her stories, and listening to her vents when she has to… in moments like these, that’s the best you can do. You just… gotta push on. Simple as that. Lila’s really lucky to have you as her girlfriend.”
Bingo leaned on Bluey’s shoulder. “And Jean-Luc’s lucky to have you as his.”
“Well, we uhh…”
“Don’t you dare tell me you two aren’t a thing!” Bluey didn’t need to look to see her sister’s smirk. “We saw you two seeking off. I’m not a kid anymore, Bluey. I knew what you two did.”
“… no, you didn’t…” Bluey whispered, but her flustered cheeks gave everything away.
“Is he a good kisser?”
“Bingooo…”
“I’m serious!”
“Fine! Yeah, he’s a great kisser! Happy?”
“Very.”
Bingo took a sip of her tea again, and after a few minutes of silence, both girls started laughing. This was the kind of playful bickering with Bingo Bluey lived for.
A low, content sigh from Bingo and a smile on her face was Bluey needed to see to know that she was doing something right.
“Thanks, Bluey.” she said, finishing her tea. “I needed this.”
“No worries, mate.”
“So, when’s Jean-Luc coming over?” Bingo smirked at Bluey’s blush.
“I would hope he comes around soon.” Bluey said.
“How about now? Does now sound good?”
A familiar voice got the girls’ attention - there stood Jean-Luc, leaning against their porch, with a smile. Bingo waved to him, whilst Bluey’s face turned extra red.
“H-How much did you hear?”
Jean-Luc sheepishly scratched the back of his head. “I, uhh… heard a lot. I’m sorry, but… I also heard when you were talking to Bingo about her girlfriend.” He looked at Bingo. “You two are also doing long distance, oui?” She nodded. “Well, I wholeheartedly agree with what Bluey said. You two are still enduring the distance, still talking to each other, and above all, still together. You’ve already done more than what normal couples do. And speaking from personal experience, I can also confirm you two are doing great.”
“… thank you, Jean-Luc. I really appreciate your kind words.”
“Think nothing of it. As someone who’s also done long distance…” Jean-Luc winked at Bluey, making her giggle. “I’m just doing my service of supporting other fellow couples.”
“Alright, I won’t keep you up. Besides… I hear you two have a date~”
The way Bingo sang that last part made Bluey stand up quickly and drag Jean-Luc away by the hand, amusing them both. “Keep the house in order until mum and dad come home! Don’t set anything on fire again!”
“It was one time, Bluey!!” Bingo’s yell from afar made both Jean-Luc and Bluey giggle.
To Jean-Luc, Brisbane was a beautiful city. On the bus towards downtown, he always found himself in awe of the architecture of Brisbane. Having a mother who works as an architect has paid off, after all.
“Wow… Brisbane est si belle…” At Bluey’s raised eyebrow, Jean-Luc sheepishly scratched his head. “I-I mean, I know I’ve been here a lot, but there’s just… s-something about the city I found so…”
A soft kiss on his cheek cut off his rambling. He looked back to see Bluey grinning at him, blushing.
“… pretty?”
Bluey giggled at Jean-Luc’s flustered behavior. “It is a beautiful city.” she agreed. “Though… it’s become kind of stale to me by now. I’ve lived here my whole life, so… I’m totally used to it.”
“Maybe… you just need someone to help you rediscover its beauty?”
Bluey shrugged. “We’ll see.”
Not long after, they got off the bus. As to where they would go… well, that’s just it. Neither teen had a plan to begin with. They just wanted to go explore.
A giggle from Bluey cut off Jean-Luc’s thought process. “You didn’t think of anything to do, did you?”
Jean-Luc shrugged. “No, but I’m not really one to plan. If you ask me, I’m more of a go-with-the-flow kind of guy.”
“Are you, now?”
“Come on. Let’s explore.” Jean-Luc took Bluey’s hand as they started their little city adventure.
Growing up in Montréal, Jean-Luc was used to big cities. Heck, he’d dare to say his city was bigger than Bluey’s - not that it was a competition, of course. But right now, some kind of magic was present during their walk that made Brisbane all the more beautiful compared to Montréal.
Even he knew that said magic was Bluey herself. It didn’t matter how big Montréal was if he had no one to show it to. Even if the scenario was a reverse one, it was still wonderful.
They held hands the whole way as the duo strolled through Downtown Brisbane. Bluey and Jean-Luc started from the West End and made their way to South Brisbane, crossing the bridge across the river from there and making it to Petrie Terrace. They went east from there, walking along the river.
A mix of conversations and comfortable silence between Bluey and Jean-Luc, the sounds of the city, the mix of warm weather and partly cloudy skies made for a terrific atmosphere. Conversations ranged from life stories to anecdotes to philosophical thoughts to the most absurd jokes Jean-Luc could muster, showing a charming, charismatic side of him to the blue heeler. He could listen to those giggles for days!
Soon enough, they made it to the Botanic Gardens, where they enjoyed the greenery and smell of nature. It almost perfectly replicated Bluey’s dream from a couple months ago - not that she would tell Jean-Luc about that.
They stopped at an Italian restaurant on the other side of the river afterward to eat some lunch - Bluey would not understand how Jean-Luc could devour an entire pizza. Maybe portion sizes were just bigger in Canada? Whatever the case was, she felt annoyed after they left because of Jean-Luc paying for their entire lunch, but… annoyed in a good way. The kind that left butterflies in your stomach.
He was spoiling her, and she wasn’t sure if she was ready to declare if she liked it or not.
They stopped not long after at a little picnic spot near the river, sitting down on the grass and enjoying each other’s company. At the time of them stopping, Jean-Luc was telling an anecdote of one of his favorite animes.
“So, it seemed like all hope was lost for them, yeah?”
“After that little scene at Eden College? I think you’d think the same thing. But it actually turns out, Anya made it to the waiting list of successful applicants, and she was on top of the list, at that!”
“Wow, what a twist of events…”
“But even then, the scene that followed after the interview was so wholesome. The dialogue between Loid and Anya was just…” He lifted both his hands up. “… absolute cinema. Japanese writers really know what they’re doing.”
The reality was, Bluey could not follow all the details. She was just happy to hear him ramble. Her tail subconsciously wagged and she leaned onto her hand as she watched him ramble about one of his favorite episodes, smiling as she listened.
Admittedly, she… kind of zoned out as he talked. She kind of just… got lost in his looks. Bluey didn’t realize how long she had been staring until a finger snapped in her face. All this time, she was staring his way. The big smirk combined with the blush on his face made her legs feel weak.
“Are you gonna keep staring at me like that?” he cheekily asked, making Bluey giggle.
She played with her hair. “Sorry, but… you’re just too cute when you ramble about the stuff you love. It’s like music to my ears.”
Jean-Luc scratched the back of his head, looking away. “Knowing how big your library is, I’m flattered, chérie…”
“Nicknames already?”
“Sorry, that was a little sudden from me…”
“It’s okay. I like it.”
The duo fell into a comfortable silence afterward. Clouds were gathering in the sky, but the sun’s rays were still visible, giving Brisbane a vibrant glow. For a while, they sat there, enjoying the view, her head on his shoulder, like old times.
Bluey and Jean-Luc were deep in their nostalgia trip when the labrador felt something moist hit his nose. Then another hit his head, and he realized it was starting to rain.
“Do you have an umbrella?” Jean-Luc asked, then looked at Bluey, who was just looking up at the sky with a smile.
“No.” she answered, still looking up. She closed her eyes with a sigh. “Maybe… I wasn’t being entirely honest when I said the city is stale to me. Downtown, maybe. But… it’s my home. This is where I grew up. I have all my memories here.”
“What’s on your mind, Bluey?” Jean-Luc asked her, to which Bluey just shrugged.
“Just reliving a memory. Me, Bingo, mum and dad once all danced in the soaking rain. I think I was maybe… eight, or so. Bingo got into Glasshouse that day. Lila too. It was like a little celebration.”
Bluey sighed again, as the rain started to get heavier. “It’s always like a walk through a past life. A trip down memory lane. I’m happy I still have everyone in my life, you included. But… I kind of miss those days. When I was still a little girl.”
Her thoughts dragged her back to her past days. The giggles from her and Bingo as she danced with Chilli, and Bingo danced with Bandit. It was something so small, but there was always beauty in simplicity. Simpler times.
“Why don’t we relive that day?” Jean-Luc’s voice brought her back to reality. She looked to her side to see him holding out his hand. With a wide smile, she accepted it, as the two broke into a waltz, not caring about getting soaked or that the grass was a little slippery.
It was certainly different than back then, Bluey thought. But at the same time, this felt so romantic. Or very romance, as her younger self would put it. She leaned against his chest as they swayed, hearing how quickly his heart was beating and giggling, blushing as she felt how quick her heart beat at the same time. A little piano tune rang in her head as they danced, providing her with imaginary music over the sound of the rain. Jean-Luc had his own tune.
Sways and movements of the feet were what made a waltz easy to do, but that made this a great dance for the both of them, as inexperienced dancers. She still remembered when she heard said song in her head in real life - a few weeks ago, on the last night when Lila and her family were to depart for Perth, she heard the same song from Bingo’s room. She may not have seen them dance, but Bluey, knowing her sister, knew Bingo wouldn’t pass up an opportunity like this.
“Everything okay? You seem distant.” Jean-Luc said, bringing Bluey back.
“Just a little worried about Bingo.” she replied. “It’s been a while… nearly a month or so, I’d say, since Lila left. She was… sheesh, this morning she was completely out of it.”
“Lila, that’s her girlfriend, right?” Bluey nodded to Jean-Luc’s question. “You seemed to make her feel better, though. You’re doing a good thing, she’s lucky to have you as a sister.”
That got a smile out of Bluey. “Thanks, Jean-Luc.”
“I may not have had much experience outside of what we have, but it taught me a lot, being away from you. That’s the beauty of long distance; it allows both sides to work on themselves. I feel like those two are going to be stronger than ever once they reunite. It seems life is cruel sometimes, tearing us away from those we love. But do you want to know one thing I learned, being away from you, Bluey?”
“What?”
“Sometimes… you just need to let life take its course. Let go and enjoy the ride. Besides… our current situation is only a stop to our final destination.”
Bluey looked down, feeling flustered from Jean-Luc’s sudden wisdom. “Wow… when did you get so wise…?”
“Well… I just like reading a lot of stuff.” he answered, chuckling. He then sighed and stopped swaying, grabbing Bluey’s attention.
“Bluey… have I ever told you how much you mean to me?”
“I… don’t think you have.”
They broke apart, them still holding hands.
“Well… y-you… you mean a lot. To me. It’s… some people might call it silly, that for the last couple years, I always clung on to those few days, b-b-but… I always… hoped I’d see you again, and… here we are. It’s amazing how the stars aligned, really…”
Despite the rain, Bluey’s giggle was still audible.
“And I… ever since I saw you again, those months ago, I-I… you… you never left my mind. You’ve shown to me that I can be the a-absolute best version of myself, and… I feel that way when I’m with you.”
She raised an eyebrow. “What about Mackenzie and the boys?”
“That’s different!” He waved it off, making her laugh again. “Yeah, I love hanging out with them, really, but… this all stemmed from you , Bluey.”
“Did it…?”
“Oui, and… it was recently I realized just… how much you mean to me. How much I cherish you, how much I treasure you, how big of a blessing you are to me, and… h-h-how-how much… I need you in my life.” He scratched the back of his head with his free hand. “An-and that evening… when we k-kissed… I… I knew it there, that… I wanted to ask you…”
Bluey’s heart was pounding. She prayed her hand wasn’t too sweaty. (Though the rain probably made it feel indifferent.)
It was happening. It was actually happening.
“Bluey… will… will you be my girlfriend?”
With a big smile, and a squeal, still shaking, Bluey lunged forward to kiss him, wrapping her arms around him. Jean-Luc was initially surprised, but soon melted into the kiss and wrapped his arms around her as well.
Within the stormy rain, the two kissed, happy to finally reach this next step in their relationship.
They broke apart after a few seconds. Bluey had only one way to answer his question.
“I thought you’d never ask.”
The duo dried off at the nearby train station before catching a bus back, spending the ride in a comfortable silence as they rode back. Bluey already texted her parents - why were they so worried about her…? - that she’s on the way back, and from the looks of it, she’s probably going to get an earful from Chilli about not having an umbrella…
The bus ride didn’t last long, and the two were now strolling back to Bluey’s house, hand in hand.
“Hey…” Bluey started. “Thanks for today. I had a lot of fun.”
He smiled and brought her hand up to his lips to gently kiss it. “Happy to provide, ma belle.”
She giggled. “Charmer.” Bluey then let out a sigh. “We… should also discuss how the future will look.”
“Yeah…” Jean-Luc agreed. “We’ll definitely have to get used to having a long distance relationship.”
“Let’s establish this… no matter what, we’ll find a way to make it work. Even if we’ll be an ocean apart, even if time zones prevent us from having proper online hangouts, we won’t give up. Can we agree on that?”
“I would be a fool to disagree. No matter what the future has in store for us, we’ll take it head on, together.”
“Together.” Bluey squeezed his hand. “Let’s make this work.”
He nodded with a smile, and squeezed back. “Let’s make this work.”
The clouds had already cleared and the rain had stopped by then, allowing the duo to walk home with a somewhat familiar scene. They reached a part with dimmed street lights, allowing for visibility of the stars within the night sky. In awe of the scene, they couldn’t help but stop to stargaze.
The way the moonlight seemed to reflect off Bluey made Jean-Luc speechless.
“J'ai beaucoup de chance…” he muttered to himself. He truly was a lucky boy.
It was then she looked at him and he quickly looked away, a little embarrassed. That simply made Bluey giggle.
“You’re free to look, you know? I am your girlfriend now, after all.” Bluey flirted, bumping her hip against his, making his face turn very red.
“Yeah… my… g-girlfriend…” Jean-Luc sputtered, making her giggle more. If her giggles weren’t so cute, he’d find the situation embarrassing.
“Wow… I never imagined to be someone’s boyfriend here…” he said, smiling warmly at Bluey, who smiled back. It was then they stopped to share a kiss.
He would never get tired of kissing her…
The only bad thing about this little date they had was that it had to end. They made it to her house in no time, and they had to depart from there.
“I’ll text you in the morning, okay? And send me a text when you get back home.” Bluey said.
“Will do.” Jean-Luc then took her hand, and kissed Bluey one more time. “Bonne nuit, Bluey.”
“Good night, Jean-Luc. Stay safe.”
With that, he began his trek back to Mackenzie’s house. Jean-Luc couldn’t help but have a skip in his step and a wide grin as he walked back.
Bluey was his girlfriend now. Bluey was his girlfriend.
He started chuckling at how… absurd this scenario would seem to past Jean-Luc, and the chuckling eventually turned to squealing.
The giddiness would persist on his entire trek home. And as he stepped inside, he took one last look at the stars… which seemed to shine as bright as ever.
Life would be getting great from here.
