Work Text:
In the dead of the night, a small figure lies in bed. Tossing, turning, flipping around the cold sheets. His restless body never settles. Rising out of frustration, gray hair hangs low in search of something.
Across the bed, lies an oversized plush. A pillow that’s occupying its emptiness. Another lonely night with it and not the other. His mind became stuck on that empty space. The hidden features, lasting remains of its previous occupant. Restlessly reaching, taking hold of the lingering scent of a rosy shampoo and musk it held. Drawing comfort from the thought that in the next night his love will return to him.
Still, it wasn’t enough. Gray nestled his face, burying it deep into the soft fabric. Sighing about its bleakness and the bland, numbing chill. Missing his strong and warm embrace. Craving the richer aroma only his love carried.
Squeezing the pillow again, Gray longed deeply. Flipping, flopping, tossing, turning, trying then settling into position and drifting to sleep.
Unbeknownst to him, the warmth he’s been longing for held him in a nice embrace. Lips peppered his head and finished on the tender skin of his nape. “I’m home.” Donald hums. In one final turn, Gray embraced that warm. Both relaxed into each other, his love safely in his arms.
“I missed you.”
A light sigh of comfort came and the two succumbed to sleep.
