“Sou-chan, you know that today isn’t just Yama-san’s birthday right?”
They were in Sougo’s room. Sougo was trying to write a new song while Tamaki sat on his bed playing games on his phone. Tamaki’s question caught the older idol off-guard. Sougo wasn’t dumb, of course he knew that Yamato-san’s birthday was also Valentine’s Day.
When Sougo didn’t reply because he was still thinking about how he should respond, Tamaki continued talking instead. “Let us do something together before his birthday party, Sou-chan. Is there something you always wanted to do on Valentine’s Day?”
Sougo was still not used to the fact that his own wishes and desires had value, no matter how often other people, and especially Tamaki, asked him to express them. “I’d love to spend the time before Yamato-san’s party with you. I never thought about Valentine’s Day like this, so I’m fine with whatever Tamaki-kun wants to do.”
“There you go again, Sou-chan. Always wanting to do what other people want. If you haven’t thought about it before, then do it now.” Tamaki sighed and then stood up from Sougo’s bed, going into Sougo’s direction, kneeling down before him and putting his own hand onto one of his partner’s. “I want to make you happy, Sou-chan. We can do what I want next year, but this year I want you to decide.”
“Next year!? You want to spend Valentine’s Day together next year too?”
“I want to spend every Valentine’s Day with you from now on, Sou-chan.”
Sougo's eyes widened and he felt his cheeks heating up from embarrassment. Did Tamaki know what effect words like these had on him? Did he maybe say those things on purpose to make a flustered mess out of him? Whatever it was, Sougo had to admit that he didn't care what Tamaki's intentions were, he was still glad to hear his partner saying that he wanted them to stay together forever.
“Say something. Or do you hate the thought of us spending every Valentine's Day together? You know, because your face is completely red… are you mad at me? Did I say something wrong?”
“No, I am not mad at all and I also don't hate this thought, Tamaki-kun! It's just…”
“What?”
Sougo had been in love with Tamaki for quite some time now. He also noticed the way Tamaki looked at him, a yearning and expecting gaze, a gaze that was very dangerous for Sougo. So Sougo knew his feelings would get reciprocated if he confessed, but… but Sougo was afraid of others finding out. This could not just cause troubles within IDOLiSH7 but also end all of their careers. It could also affect Tamaki's life in a bad way… And Sougo didn't want the younger idol to risk all of that. Tamaki went through too much in his life, Sougo just wanted him to be carefree and happy.
Tamaki pressed Sougo's hand gently. “Sou-chan? Are you okay? Are you feeling sick? You look pale…”
Great, now you made Tamaki-kun worry about you… Sougo thought to himself.
“I’m fine. Thank you, Tamaki-kun.”
Tamaki breathed a sigh of relief before he returned to their actual topic. “What did you wanna say before?”
Sougo decided that it was for the best to stop avoiding this issue. He couldn't have continued like this forever anyway. And he was tired of pretending that he saw Tamaki just as a friend. He wanted to join Tamaki on the floor for this, so he stood up from his chair and kneeled down on the opposite side of Tamaki. Sougo had the perfect view at Tamaki's light blue eyes in which he could get lost for hours now.
“You know I am 20…”
“Yeah I know that.”
“But you are 17…”
“I know that too.” Tamaki looked at him, the confusion clearly showing on his face. “I don't get it.”
“I want to spend every Valentine's Day with you Tamaki-kun. I actually want to spend the rest of my life with you. But our age could be a big problem.”
“Why?”
“I’m an adult Tamaki-kun and you're still a minor.”
“I’m not a child anymore though? I'll graduate highschool soon. I still don't get it. Why even care about this? Our feelings are the important part, aren't they?
“But…”
“Sou-chan, I don't care if you are already 20 and I’m not. I’m still taller and stronger than you. Well at least if you don't switch to yandere mode…”
“And what if this ruins your career? You have worked so hard. You had it so tough already in your life, I don't want you to experience even more difficulties. Not because of me and the feelings I have for you, Tamaki-kun.”
Tamaki rolled his eyes. “You are SO annoying, Sou-chan.”
Sougo opened his mouth to say something, but before a sound could exit his throat, Tamaki came closer and pinned him against the floor. Besides holding Sougo's arms down, Tamaki stayed as gentle as possible even in this situation. Sougo’s whole body got warmer instantly because of how close their faces were now.
“Sou-chan, I really wanna kiss you. Can I do it?”
Sougo knew he shouldn't allow it. “No” was the only reasonable answer. It would only cause trouble for Tamaki and if someone else would find out… But Sougo knew his feelings wouldn’t go away anyway and he also didn’t want to hurt Tamaki by rejecting him. So eventually Sougo nodded slightly in agreement.
“Please say it.”
“You can kiss me, Tamaki-kun.”
Tamaki came closer but before their lips were able to touch each other, their noses bumped together. Tamaki's and his own inexperience in romantic relationships were the reason for this small accident.
Tamaki let go of Sougo's arms. “I think I messed up, Sou-chan…”
Sougo smiled at him. “You didn't. We’ll just try it again, Tamaki-kun.”
Sougo noticed insecurity in Tamaki's eyes. If his partner wasn't sure after this, Sougo would have to do something. He was the older one after all. He took Tamaki's face in his hands and sat up a bit, leaning in to brush his lips against Tamaki's. This time their noses didn't crash into each other.
Tamaki's lips tasted sweet, very sweet. Sougo assumed Tamaki had eaten Kind Pudding before coming to his room. Usually Sougo wouldn't be able to handle this intense sweetness well but somehow it was fine right now.
Tamaki was the first one to break the kiss. “Was it okay? Did you like it, Sou-chan?”
“I did.”
Tamaki's eyes began to shine out of happiness. “I did!? I’m glad you liked it. And I’m glad you praised me for the kiss. We should kiss more from now on though.”
Sougo giggled. “We definitely should do that.”
Unlike before Tamaki took Sougo's face into his hands and sealed their lips this time. He’d never felt this hot in his whole life and it was just a normal kiss without tongue. Tamaki was impatient to find out how those other things would feel with Sou-chan, but he didn't want to rush things.
Neither of them wanted to break the kiss this time, but the lack of oxygen forced them to separate ultimately.
“Are you okay, Sou-chan?” Tamaki asked with a concerned look on his face.
“Of course. How can't I? I’m more than fine, Tamaki-kun. I’m very happy.”
“I’m very happy too.”
“I know what I want to do until Yamato-san’s birthday party now.”
“Tell me! Tell me!”
Sougo smiled, because his partner was so adorable when he was excited for something. “Just stay here together and continue practicing kissing.”
“I like that! But we should maybe lock the door, right?“
“We should.”
“Also, since it will be my decision next year, I can already tell you what I wanna do. I want us to eat king pudding together, but don’t worry, I’m gonna get you a less sweet sort of it, Sou-chan!”
