You're different.

Summary:

Mai has always loved to talk to her girlfriend, but lately she's been scared she's annoying her girlfriend by talking to her for hours.

Work Text:

It's become a habit of the two, they'd take a few minutes - sometimes, they'd become hours! - after school to meet up at the park, and from there they'd decide how to spend their evening before going home to do homework.

Usually, they'd end up not going anywhere, just sit on a bench and talk about whatever, their conversations could go on for forever if they didn't get stopped by busy band schedules!

The person that talks the most is definitely Mai, oh if she's chatty! Maggie sometimes wonders where the hell does she take all of the topics she talks about?

However, she's not the one to complain, actually, she loves when Mai rambles to her about whatever, sometimes, She'd ask her questions just to hear her talk again, Mai's voice is a sweet tune in her heavy metal life. Like when a child gets hurt but stops crying when their mom kisses the scratch better... Yes, Mai's voice is, in a way, a "kiss it better" to Maggie's overly trafficked life.

Yet one day, she noticed that Mai seemed... Weird? And not in the "usual puppet twins" weird, she was quieter than usual, and seemed to not want to speak. At first, Maggie didn't complain, because hey! She's finally giving me time to speak my mind!
But after a week or two, she started to get worried...

"Mai?" The magenta-haired girl called her girlfriend, who was sitting right next to her, she turned her gaze to the taller girl, her eyes like gemstones in the sunlight (tho, for Maggie, they shined brighter under the moonlight).

"yeah?" The white-haired girl asked, Maggie took her time to choose the words, being "soft" is still something she's not used to, but she's trying. Mai knows she's trying.

"I mean, you have always been very chatty, and lately you've just... Shut down, somehow. Is everything okay?" Maggie's voice was surprisingly sweet. Mai just stood there in silence, thinking about an answer.

Finally, she spoke;
"I'm just scared I'm being annoying."

Maggie shook her head, annoying? Mai? She was when they first met, but Maggie learnt to love her, and if she still found her annoying, would she even stay with her still?

"what!? Annoying? Are you kidding me? I love hearing you talk!" Maggie laughed, Mai's eyes widened slightly, and she also let out some soft giggles.

"you do?"
"yes! I love hearing you talk, really. I could listen to your ramblings for Hours!"

Mai is now laughing with Maggie, quietly making fun of her own absurdity.

"you do are the kind of person to walk away the moment they get annoyed..." Mai confessed, drying a laughing tear from her eye.

"exactly!" Maggie exclaimed.

"but, really now," the short-haired girl continued, "what on earth made you even think that I found you annoying?"

"I don't know, everyone else always found me annoying." Mai simply answered, her eyes now looking down. Maggie moved her face closer to Mai's.

"am I like everyone else?"

"no. You're different."
