The Hired Aggressive American

Summary:

A new role has been formed in the K-pop industry. With the rise in popularity in the United States it's been harder to keep track of the things said by interviewers and as it stands K-pop idols are too polite to speak up for themselves. Therefore the H.A.A. was born as a way to combat the cruelty. You find yourself in that role for global sensation Stray Kids.

Chapter Text

In the past ten years, K-pop has begun to gain popularity in the United States. As time goes on, more companies are realizing how often groups are needlessly insulted by American interviewers due to the language barrier. Due to this, a new role in the company was created: the H.A.A., or the Hired Agressive American.

You got the role after getting into an argument with a staff member of JYPE while trying to get yourself a drink at a cafe. The staff member was complaining in plain English in front of you about how the members of a band you had heard the name of in the past would get fat after eating all the snacks they ordered.

You immediately went after him with your basic knowledge of how these companies treat the members. You yelled at him about how they deserve sweets after all the suffering that these groups get put through and how needlessly cruel the fans tend to be. After about ten minutes, you realized that the man was grinning at you. He holds out a paper in front of you.

“You’re hired.”

He says it plainly as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. In his hand was a contract written in English about how you were to work with a group while they spent time in the U.S. and how your job was to defend them when interviewers were rude. You knew the name of the band and even the names of a few members but this was strange. You were considering rejecting the offer until you got to the page that had the information on how much you were being paid. Your eyes went wide as you looked at the amount of zeros. This could pay for your dingy apartment and a second one on top of it for years. You look up at him, and he hands you a pen you take the pen and sign your name without hesitation.

He grins at you and motions for you to follow him. Outside, a black van with tinted windows awaits you. You open the back door to find it empty. You’re both disappointed and relieved to find it empty. You don’t know if you’d be able to handle the beauty of the typical K-pop idol up close that soon.

The van pulls out of the parking lot, and you stare out the window, wondering what this job will entail. After all, it’s not every day you get hired to essentially yell at people. It might actually be great stress relief now that you think about it. The car stops, and you look out the window to see a nice hotel, way nicer than anything you could afford. The door to the van opens, and you’re ushered out and into the hotel. The interior is even more fancy. There's a huge chandelier in the, and the couches look so expensive that you're afraid to even breathe on them.

The staff member leads you to the elevator, and you stand in the middle of it, not wanting to even touch the walls. The elevator stops on one of the higher floors, and he leads you to one of the suites and unlocks it with a keycard. He goes in and waits for you, urging you to come inside. You hesitate before taking a step in. You have to stop yourself from covering your eyes. They’re all so bright and beautiful. It’s too much. The staff member turns to face you.

“Meet Stray Kids. You’ll be spending a lot of time with them in the future.”
