It catches up with him, all the weight of it crashing down on him at once. Only a few words spared to speak of it, and Arthur is once again gasping out sobs, breaking down in front of a near stranger.
But not truly a stranger. A dear friend of Lucy’s, and her own grief is no less than his. Greater, he admits, for that depth of friendship with Lucy that can only come from long years together is forever denied to him.
Despite this, she holds steady for him, strong simply because he needs someone to be right now.
