Work Text:

The moonlight filtered softly through the curtains, casting a gentle glow on the room. Simon sat on the edge of the bed, his fingers nervously running over the fabric of his jeans as he glanced over at Wilhelm. The prince was leaning against the headboard, his eyes heavy with a mixture of fatigue and quiet anticipation. They hadn’t said much since they had finally managed to escape the watchful eyes of the world, but there was something in the air between them—something unspoken that both felt but neither was quite ready to voice.

It had been a week since the last time they had stolen a moment together, hidden away from the prying eyes of society. Simon still couldn’t believe that he, the boy from the wrong side of the tracks, had found himself here, in the same room as the crown prince of Sweden. But despite the vast differences in their lives, Wilhelm had never treated him like anything less than equal.

"You okay?" Wilhelm's voice was soft, filled with concern. He sat up a little straighter, his gaze fixed on Simon with an intensity that made his heart race.

Simon met his eyes, offering a small smile that didn't quite reach his eyes. "Yeah. Just... thinking."

"About what?" Wilhelm shifted closer, his body warm, and despite the distance that still lingered between them, Simon could feel the pull, the magnetism that always seemed to exist whenever they were in the same room.

"I don’t know," Simon murmured, shaking his head slightly. "Just... everything. The pressure, the expectations. Us."

Wilhelm's expression softened, his lips curling up into a small but knowing smile. "It’s hard, isn't it? Trying to fit into this world when it doesn’t want you. But Simon... you don’t have to fit into any world but your own."

Simon felt his chest tighten at the sincerity in Wilhelm’s words. He had never heard someone speak to him with such care, and certainly not someone like Wilhelm, whose life was so meticulously planned out, whose every move was scrutinized. Yet, with Simon, Wilhelm was always so open, so real.

"You make it sound so easy," Simon whispered.

"It’s not," Wilhelm replied, his voice filled with quiet determination. "But we’ll figure it out. Together."

There was something about that promise, that unspoken vow, that made Simon’s heart ache. They had already been through so much together—so many stolen glances, secret meetings, moments when they had to pretend they weren’t who they were. But in the safety of the private space they shared, there was no pretending. There was only Simon and Wilhelm, two people who had found something in each other that neither could quite explain, but both knew was worth holding on to.

Without thinking, Simon crossed the room, closing the small distance between them until he was standing just in front of Wilhelm. His breath caught as he looked down at the prince, their faces mere inches apart. Wilhelm’s hand reached out, brushing a strand of hair from Simon’s face, his fingers lingering on Simon’s skin for a moment longer than necessary.

"I want this," Wilhelm whispered, his eyes dark with emotion. "I want you. All of you."

Simon’s heart thundered in his chest. He had wanted this too—had craved it in ways he hadn’t been able to admit, even to himself. The pull between them was undeniable, and for the first time, Simon didn’t feel like he had to hide. Not from Wilhelm, not from anyone.

Slowly, gently, Simon leaned in, closing the gap between them. Their lips met in a tender kiss, soft and slow at first, as if they were both testing the waters, unsure but desperate all the same. But then, as if the kiss was an invitation, an unspoken promise, it deepened. Wilhelm’s hand found Simon’s neck, pulling him closer, while Simon’s hands slipped around Wilhelm’s waist, tugging him forward until they were flush against each other.

The kiss was everything. It was more than just desire. It was understanding, trust, vulnerability. Each touch was a declaration that they had found something in each other that they couldn’t find anywhere else.

When they finally broke the kiss, both of them were breathless, their foreheads resting against each other, the world outside fading into nothingness.

"Are you sure?" Wilhelm asked, his voice barely a whisper, his eyes searching Simon’s for any hint of hesitation.

Simon swallowed hard, his throat dry, but when he spoke, his voice was steady. "I’m sure."

And with that, they were lost in each other again, their hands roaming, exploring, learning the way their bodies reacted to each other. Clothes were shed slowly, carefully, as though this moment needed to be savored, not rushed. Every touch, every kiss, was a quiet promise, a way of communicating everything they couldn’t say aloud.

The first time they made love was slow and gentle, as though neither of them wanted to break the fragile spell they had cast around themselves. Wilhelm’s hands traced every inch of Simon’s skin, as if memorizing him, as if he needed to imprint this moment into his very soul. Simon responded with equal tenderness, his touch soft but insistent, guiding Wilhelm as they moved together, creating a rhythm that was uniquely theirs.

When it ended, neither of them spoke for a moment. They simply held each other, their bodies tangled in the sheets, hearts beating in sync. Simon rested his head against Wilhelm’s chest, listening to the steady thrum of his heartbeat, feeling the warmth of his embrace as if it were the safest place in the world.

"I’m not going anywhere," Wilhelm murmured, pressing a kiss to the top of Simon’s head. "No matter what happens, I’ll always be here."

Simon closed his eyes, letting out a soft sigh of relief. "I know."

And in that moment, as the night stretched on and the world outside remained unaware of the two of them, Simon and Wilhelm held each other close. They didn’t need words to understand the depth of their feelings. The love they shared was evident in every touch, every look, every shared breath.

They had found something beautiful, something worth fighting for, something they could hold on to even when everything else felt uncertain.

And in the quiet of the night, in the warmth of each other’s arms, they knew that no matter what the future held, they had this moment. And that was enough.
