Jealousy

Summary:

Felix gets hurt, Oxy is a little shit about it

Work Text:

Oxy isn't a jealous person. Well, he is, he doesn't like to admit it.
It hit him like a sudden whip to his back, that rainy, cold night when he found his boyfriend picking a fight in the bathroom of the bar they usually go to on Saturday nights. What was that bastard's name? Edward? Bernard? Whatever, what oxy does know is that he was one of Felix's bullies in middle school, and apparently, he still had a bone to pick with the pink-haired beauty.

Oxy made sure the boy was k.o., obviously without no complaints for Felix, that, despite having a broken nose, bruises on his cheeks and damages on his arms, still dared to say that Oxy was too brutal, and he was "handling it well."

Ever since that day, oxy has been... Way too protective, at least, for Felix's taste. Ever since the bathroom accident, Oxy has been hesitant in giving Felix personal space, always wanting to be with him every time he was away. At first Felix didn't mind, but lately - and probably without meaning to - he's simply been acting too jealous, like that accident made him come back to when they were first dating, and oxy didn't fully trust his boyfriend yet.

But he knows this time it isn't about trust, Oxy is jealous of anyone twho touches Felix... Because he's scared. Scared he will get hurt again.

Scared he'll lose him.

And Felix doesn't want him to feel this way. Because he knows he's not going anywhere, he knows he's not in danger, he just needs to get this fact through Oxys head.

It was an autumn afternoon when Felix decided to talk to Oxy about it. The walk to the Nightmares' place is usually always pleasant, but today, the weight of the talk he would have with his boyfriend is, honestly, stressing him out.

Oxy was in his room - or, well, Oxy, Onnie and Maggie's shared room. But the other two were away, so it was only him, Oxy, and Deuz in the kitchen.

Felix put his bag on the ground, right next to Oxy's worn-out school bag. Oxy was sitting on a chair in between his bed and desk, lazily picking at his bass' strings, and limited himself to a sigh when he heard Felix knock on his door.

"Can we talk?" Felix simply asked, sitting cross-legged on Oxy's bed, a few paint and coffee stains that just wouldn't wash off creating an interesting decoration pattern on the sheets.
Oxy didn't want to look at him.

"I'm sorry for having followed you last night when you went out with your friends."
"you promised me you'd stay at my place and take care of my sick sister!"

"I know! I just... I couldn't help myself, okay?" while he spoke, Oxy put his bass down. Felix clenched his fists.

"Why? Why can't you help yourself? What is it that's making you so jealous?" the pink-haired boy tried to make his voice sound as calm as he could.

Oxy, who would usually start to get irritated in situations like these, relaxed his shoulders and finally turned around to look at his boyfriend in the face.
"I'm scared. That's all. I'm scared something like what happened in the bathroom last week would happen again."

Felix's eyes softened, and he opened his fists again. Sure, he was still angry, but he knew why Oxy was acting this way.
"you're scared you will lose me like you lost everyone you loved." Felix said, all in one breath, his voice sounding eerily monotone.

Oxy swallowed hard, it was difficult for him to admit it, even if it was true... he was supposed to be the strong one, but instead, he let himself get controlled by his emotions and his protectiveness. Felix, on the other hand, just chuckled. Oxy looked up to him, raising a brow in confusion.

"do you think a stupid fight in a dirty bathroom is what will take me down?"
"you were in a pretty bad shape..."
"Oh, trust me, I've been through worse." Felix answered with a smirk, like that was supposed to reassure Oxy in some way.

"that... doesn't make me feel any better." Oxy confessed, a hint of a smile on his face. Felix rolled his eyes and leaned over to the ginger boy's direction.

"What I'm saying is," and Oxy moved his chair closer to where Felix was sitting, "I'm not going anywhere. I promise. You don't need to guard me all the time. I am not in danger." And while he spoke, he put his hand on Oxy's arms, squeezing slightly.

"And I guess I owe you an 'I'm an idiot'" Oxy answered, looking down.
"you owe me many 'I'm an idiot'!" Felix answered, laughing.
