Work Text:
"Have a nice day at school, dear!"
Gi Hun smiled cheerfully and put the lunchbox with food in his daughter's backpack. In response, Sae Byeok rolled her eyes and muttered back in a mocking, teasing tone:
"Have a nice day to you too."
The man froze as she left for school, and realized that he had heard this phrase with such a tone somewhere before. He just couldn't remember where.
He shrugged and went to make breakfast for the younger children, not attaching much importance to these thoughts.
Not long ago, he and Sang Woo adopted Sae Byeok and Cheol. The former was distant, withdrawn, and a little rude, but she never rebelled against her new parents. She and her brother had a difficult past, so she had a hard time getting used to the new family, but lately she felt more and more comfortable. She also eerily reminded Gi Hun of his husband. They were so similar that he wondered if Sang Woo had ever been in a relationship before.
While he was cooking rice, someone hugged him from behind and pressed themselves against his back. Gi Hun didn't have to guess who it was and turned his head to kiss his husband's cheek. Sang Woo was already ready, but he seemed sleepy.
"Good morning, Sang Woo," Gi hun smiled happily, pressing himself against him, "Didn't get enough sleep? Come have breakfast."
Sang Woo mumbled something into his shoulder and stayed like that for a while, then kissed Gi Hun's neck and pulled away.
"Thank you, but I'm not hungry. I'll eat at work."
He went to put on his shoes while Gi Hun turned off the stove and wrapped his onigiri. He walked over to Sang Woo to fix his tie and slightly disheveled hair.
"Then take it with you!"
"Thank you, hyung. You cook great as always."
He was in no mood at all. Yesterday, Sang Woo was busy with paperwork and resolving all the issues with the principal of the school where Chul and Gayeong were going to be enrolled. Gi Hun offered to help him many times or at least do everything himself so that he could rest, but Sang Woo didn’t let him suffer with these papers and sent him to bed with kisses. By the way, they managed to settle everything. After the adoption, they had some problems, but nothing serious.
Before he left, Gi Hun kissed him.
"Have a good day at work, dear!"
Sang Woo sighed and nodded to him.
"Have a good day to you too."
As he left, Gi Hun remembered where he heard this phrase and simply giggled. His husband and eldest daughter really were very similar. He often heard this from Sang Woo, but only from Sae Byeok today.
Gayoung and Cheol woke up, which meant it was time to go back to the kitchen.
