Summary:

Fuzzy, headache inducing mind fog. That's the only thing Astro could think and feel in their current placement. Astros eyes had fluttered open after what was probably days. He heard beeping, he felt cold, and he heard some chatter around the room.

Work Text:

Foggy. That's the only thing the blue moon could feel in this situation. Astro has currently been fighting off his body and mind just shutting down entirely for the last few days. They have been getting sent on resource and training missions non stop for over three nights. Though he rarely ever actually likes going on these missions, especially since they are mostly helping new toons get the hang of going on missions. He always chooses to go on them, he really doesn't want them to think he's anymore of an outcast. Another thing is he hates going on missions with new toons. It's not that they're all bad, but they are ignorant. They take heals for themselves without even asking if anybody else needs them. And worst of all, they grab out at him and beg for stamina and try to get me to carry their entire team.

He doesn't hate them for the second part as much because they are new and scared. Which is understandable, especially for their first black out or seeing their twisted counterpart. He just hates being touched. Being pulled and yanked on. The crescent moon despises it. Especially since if the blanket falls off they might see- his arms. His very distinguished second set of arms. He wishes they would Disappear, along with the rest of him.

When Astro and his training team got back from their mission there were toons crowding the elevator? There are a couple of faces he can match to names. Those being, sprout, poppy, Tisha, Shelly, and goob. What a weird mix, he doesn't recall any of them talking to each other very often or at all even. Astro doesn't like being near the other toons very often. Though there are some exceptions, like- never mind.

The migraine he has been fighting off for the past couple hours has come back just to hit him in the ass. Astros mind went blank and he just stood there for a second. He ran. Into a different elevator and up to his room. Three days without a nap that lasted over an hour. His body and mind have almost reached the point of shutting down entirely. As soon as he hit the pillow he curled up into his tower of folded blankets knocking them over and on top of him. For a moment he finally felt peace and quiet. But just for a second.

Not even twenty minutes later vee came barging in on him sleeping. “Hey moon boy, wake up, we have an all-main mission. Right now.” Astro took a minute to process what the game host said, only waking up seconds prior, probably the result of being a very light sleeper. “Alright, be there in five, Vee.” And just like that vee left with the sound or metal footsteps following her down the long hallway. He just went to sleep. Do they not have any decency?

Even so, Astro makes his way down to the elevator after he throws his sacred blanket over his shoulders. He may be starting to look like a zombie at this point with the massive eyebags he has forming under his soulless eyes. The other toons didn't seem to notice much, except for Shelly that is. She looked pretty concerned at this point. He can't believe that he's letting everybody, including Shelly, see him at his worst. Especially when they are supposed to be trying to get to the lowest floor, without turning into- them.

“Astro?” Shelly spoke with a concerned tone in her words. “Are you feeling alright, you look beyond tired right now.” The moon didn't know what to say to this, he was feeling incredibly tired at the moment but he didn't want to say that. The other toons would think he's just weak and cannot go on this mission with them.

“I'm fine, thank you Shelly.” Astro thought that would give her a straight answer, but it didn't. Shelly looked unpleased with still some concern for her moon friend. Much to Astros delight she left it alone, not wanting to pry anymore since Astro had been giving off bad energy all day. Though Shelly still wondered what happened when he ran off earlier that day. She really didn't want to upset him more than she thought she already did.

Not many toons know this, but Astro using his ability drains his own energy drastically. That's another reason on top of everything else why he sleeps so much. so especially everytime he uses his energy pulse to give other toons energy he loses a lot of his own. He thinks sprout might have caught on to this. During past missions Astro has seen Sprout looking at him cautiously, like he's going to faint or something or sorts. Sprout may have figured this out when Astro goes into the clinic at times. He goes there to help the nurses put patients to sleep while they fix the toon up. Sprout and Cosmo go there during their spare time to give treats to the patients to help them get better. Sprout probably saw Astro put a toon to sleep and then look a little dazed after.

The team of toons looking at the elevator with anticipation and dread hoping they won't run into their twisted selves. Whenever toons see their twisted counterpart they, well, it looks like they get messed up. Which is understandable to say the least. Who wants to see what they could turn into when they are at their absolute worst.

Forty two, forty three, forty four, forty five. They kept getting lower and lower down into the ground until they hit floor forty six. Not at all close to the lowest floor they've gotten too but they surely are getting there. The elevator opened on floor forty six. They encountered all of their twisted selves. The toons looked out of the elevator in dread. They had over fifteen machines to do after all. Sprout bent down and gave pebble a treat, knowing he'll definitely need it.

At that point all Astro wanted to do is lay down and die. His body had started shaking at this point. The constant ability use for over forty floors had finally gotten to him. There was only a couple of machines left to do vee spoke into her walkie talkie notifying the rest of the team she was doing the last two machines. Astro didn't know what happened but he tripped and fell over a research capsule hitting his right shoulder and leg. He couldn't trust anyone seeing his arms so he just didn't use them, not even his main pair. It was pathetic in his mind, the fact he's so ashamed of just two extra arms he can't even use them to stop a very avoidable injury.

It felt like seconds after he tripped. The elevator opened. Panic mode set in and he ran. Twenty seconds left on the clock he saw Shelly behind him in the distance. Just as fast as he ran to the elevator he ran straight in the opposite direction, to Shelly. 10 seconds on the clock Astro activated his energy pulse- black.

The moon themed toon hit the cold, dusty floor, stained with the ichor of past toons misfortunes. Was he dieing? He could barely hear, feel, or think anything. The only thing he could sense was screaming and very heavy footsteps, rattling the floor.

-.-

Fuzzy, headache inducing mind fog. That's the only thing Astro could think and feel in their current placement. Astros eyes had fluttered open after what was probably days. He heard beeping, he felt cold, and he heard some chatter around the room. He saw Shelly and the rest of the main-character toons standing around his hospital bed. He had a thick ichor soaked bandage around his head and- where was his blanket. He jerked his body up suddenly into a sitting position. That's when he realized his blanket was gone. All arms on display. His right arm has more bandages on it, from his fall in the earlier mission.

He wanted to scream. The only thing he never wanted to happen, happened. The all have seen his arms, his disgusting weird set of arms. They probably think he's a monster. Or worse, a twisted. Astro looked around in panic looking at all their faces, everyone but Shelly. Why did this have to happen, especially in front of her.
