Work Text:
Sunset orange and pink painted the skies in streaks on a Saturday evening.
The wind blew gently through the fields they loved to run through.
The sunlight danced over the ripples of water on the lake they adored sitting by together.
Their mingled laughter filled the air as they chased one another, trying to grab the sides of the other the minute they were near.
This was the routine now. School, bike, field or lake and then just…be free. In whatever they decided to do. Finally, after the emotional roller coaster they had ridden together they had come out the other side. Side by side, hands intertwined, to not let go. Stronger than before.
It had been 3 weeks since they kissed at the Harvest Festival and the pair were attached at the hip. They, along with their friend group, have had the best of days. It was starting to feel like a real family. A circle where they were accepted. Loved, supported.
But right now, in this field, by this lake, it was just them. Their oasis.
Elias was currently fleeing from another one of Alexander’s tickle attacks. The soft grass cushioned his feet and the air around them was warm. His mother would probably moan about all the grass stains on his clothes again from their earlier tumbles, but he didn’t care.
Not right now.
Not when he was fighting for breath from all the merciless tickling Alexander was throwing upon him. He was laughing so hard tears were starting to form in his eyes and his stomach was beginning to cramp.
Was it possible to be this happy? To feel this much pure joy? It’s all his fault.
Alexander.
Alex had a hold of him now for the hundredth time that evening and it was soon becoming too much, he had to speak up. Or at least, try.
“Ahah-ha-A-lex! Alex s-stop! I can’t breathe!” Elias spluttered out. Although truthfully, he could do this all day. Anything to be around Alexander.
“Oh, I know, I know, I take your breath away. I have that effect all the time!” Alex jokingly mocked, still not relenting his attack. His grin and laughter bringing fresh butterflies into Elias’ stomach.
“I’m going to die, you idiot!” Elias squealed but there was no anger behind it. “Stop!”
“Ha! Make me.” Said Alex dragging his hands down to Elias’ sides, still not stopping the dance of his fingers over Elias’s shirt.
Elias’s mind raced with what to do, overthinking as always until a particular thought hit him.
Fine, he’ll accept the challenge.
With Alexander’s next lunge forward Elias, as quick as a whip, pushed Alexander’s arms away only to swiftly come back to press his lips to his.
Alex ceased his movements and made a noise of surprise. Did not expect that!
Elias pulled away with a great grin plastered on his face. His ocean eyes glimmering with triumph from the sunset’s light reflected in them. He crossed his arms in a confident pose and leaned his head down ever so slightly. It made his already golden hair shine in the light.
He was so. Damn. Pretty.
“Made you” Elias said, his voice quiet but victorious and full of affection.
Alex drew a shuddering breath, a massive grin spread across his face. Man, there was no helping him. He really was truly in love with this boy. And now it was his turn.
Alexander looked Elias up and down. He lifted his hand to his chin in a thoughtful pose, a smirk gracing his face. But never broke his gaze away.
Elias was unsure now. The mood had changed. Something was different. What was Alex thinking? Shit, Shit, Shit, had he done something wrong? What was he going to-
Before he could even finish his usual jumbled thoughts, a hand was on the collar of his shirt and yanking him forward back into Alexander’s arms and a crushing kiss.
Alex steadied him with an arm round his back pulling him as close as he could.
For a minute, the earth was still.
They’d kissed many times before. But this kiss was different. This kiss was longer, slower, deeper. Alex breaking away every now and then ever so slightly just to capture his lips again for more. Elias followed him as best he could.
His mind was blank. In fact, it was starting to get dizzy. It was a sensation overload. The only feelings he registered was the press of Alexander’s lips, the safety of his arms and the joy in his heart.
Elias’s hand went to up to rest on Alex’s which was still wound in his shirt.
Stay right here Alexander, right here.
Was it possible for a heart to explode? For legs to give way so easily? If he was going to fall at least Alex was there to catch him.
After what felt like eons Alex slowly broke away from the kiss, still holding tightly onto Elias. His dark eyes fluttered open to meet ocean blue. His face with a ghost of a slightly surprised expression. He must have shocked himself a bit that he did that.
They held each other’s gaze for a moment before they both simultaneously let out a breath neither had realised they were holding. This made them erupt into laughter once more falling into each other’s arms in a floppy hug. God, what just happened?
“That was crazy!” Elias chuckled, staggering back from the hug and crippling over with his hands on his knees.
“Oh, you’re calling me crazy, huh?” said Alex, playfully nudging Elias’s shoulder. Elias pushed back giggling.
“Yeah, I am” Elias said with a flash of a grin “But I liked that...”
He stepped back towards Alexander and took his hand in his, the other going to push some of Alex’s wispy brown locks from out of his eyes so he could really look into them.
“…A lot.”
Alexander’s face grew a warm, loving smile. He leaned his forehead into Elias’s. His hands went to cup his face gently, his thumbs stroking his cheeks gently.
“Then I hope I’m crazy forever, petit copain”
