Work Text:
Tony turned around slowly, his breath was shaking as he spoke, “You did that?”
He was breaking, before I could even think of what to say I was against the wall and then in the ground. my body already covered in numbing pain, was at its last straw.
I could only get a few words out
“Please! I had no choice!”
I struggled to even roll on to my stomach as he walk towards me. I began trying to crawl out of the way of his blast.
Steve’s voice fades out as I’m shaken back into reality by Sam.
“You had me worried there for a bit, I’m assuming it was bad?”
“Yeah.” I barely made a sound, I swear that was real.
“Why are you here?” I say sharply.
“Because I care for you, and I don’t ignore people, you should try to do the same.”
“I think I’m good, goodbye.”
“Yeah sure.”
…
“The past few months my nightmare have became more frequent and it’s has been harder for me to distinguish them from reality.”
“Have you told Sam, or anyone?”
“No, I haven’t, I don’t want him to worry anymore than he does already.”
“Bucky, you can’t just not say anything, nothing will change.”
I know, but it’s hard, I haven’t been able to really talk to someone other than you since Steve left.”
“And how does that make you feel?”
“Kind of sad.”
“Do you want to change that?”
“Yes.”
“Then do it.”
…
“Thank you for today Dr. Raynor.”
“I’m always here, good bye, I’ll see you same time next week, don’t forget.”
…
Now days Dr. Raynor has started to help more, especially since it’s getting worse. It really sucks, sometimes I wish that I was never unfrozen or even made, but then Sam is there, and I want to try. I wonder if he knows how I really feel.
I make my way up to my apartment, and I see a slip taped to my door. I’m bold letter is says “Eviction Notice”. Great, just what I need.
I call up Sam in hopes he’ll let my stay with him, and of course he says yes. I don’t even have a car, so I have to wait for him to come and get me.
I hear a car pull up outside, it’s a nice Audi, I didn’t know Sam had a money like that, then yet again I don’t know much about him.
He gets out and walks toward me, waving and looking happy to see me, that’s a first.
“Do you need a hand with your belongings?”
“Nope, it’s just these.” I say as a pick up my small box, that was mainly clothing.
“Really, I thought you lived her for a while, wouldn’t you have more?”
“All the things I like aren’t really in style now, and I never bothered finding new things I like.”
“Ah,” he pauses and just looks at me for only a little bit, and the sound to get the passenger door for me.
…
As we make our way up the stairs to his apartment I see one of his neighbors giving me a look, the one that haunts me everyday of my life. I lower my head is pick up pace a bit. Sam opens the door, it isn’t very messy, but it isn’t clean either.
“Here it is, my humble abode, you can set your things down, I can get you some blankets and you can sleep on the couch.”
I don’t tell him that I sleep in the floor, I’ll just pretend like I’ll sleep in the couch. He goes into the other room and returns with a pillow and a blanket. He places them in my arms and the starts making his way to the kitchen.
“Have you eaten anything? Do you was a drink?”
“Umm… I’m alright.”
“Also you can just leave your jacket on the chair, and the bathroom is down the hall.”
I nod so he knows I’m listening, I couldn't look him in the eyes. Dr. Raynor says that when I’m not looking I don’t seem like I’m paying attention. She wants me to get better at it.
“That should be it, are you all good?”
“Yep I should be good and thank you for this.”
“No problem, it’s getting late and I have a busy day tomorrow. So good night.”
“Yeah.”
His shuts the light off and goes to his room. I grab my blanket and pillow and throw it on the ground, I don’t know why I feel guilty for not telling him. I lay down and close my eyes. Some reason it feels familiar here, I feel, at ease. i close my eyes and drift into unconsciousness.
