Yoo Joonghyuk and Kim Dokja are cuddling in Yoo Joonghyuk’s twin bed.
As for how his angsty gamer boyfriend gets a twin bed while everyone else in this university has to make do with a squeezy single bed, Kim Dokja doesn’t know - but it didn’t stop him from officially declaring it as the venue for any and all future cuddling to take place.
(Maybe he had such an angry face that management relented out of fear, Kim Dokja secretly thought.)
The reader had just finished the latest chapter of his recent favourite webnovel and was bored with nothing else to do, so now his boyfriend has to suffer the same fate. Kim Dokja had forced a hand over the screen of the Nintendo Switch Yoo Joonghyuk was intently staring at and earned himself a furious glare, which he returned with his pretty smile.
Yoo Joonghyuk had to yield. It was totally cheating - he couldn’t really be mad at that smile, even if sometimes he did honestly feel like choking him.
So now, they were laying in bed, both bored out of their minds, simply cuddling and making inane conversation.
"I barely cook." Kim Dokja sighs.
"I can tell," Yoo Joonghyuk snarked, earning him an elbow in the rib. "I'm serious, the last bento we exchanged felt more like I got extorted."
Kim Dokja pouted, internally acknowledging that the sad box of cooked instant noodles he had handed over to Yoo Joonghyuk was nowhere near in quality to the sumptuous meal he received, in a neat bento box no less. The rice had been pearly white, and the chicken karaage was the perfect shade of golden with crispy outsides and tender insides. It was so obviously better than anything store-bought that Kim Dokja was almost brought to tears when he took the first bite.
"I fried an egg just fine..." Kim Dokja weakly defended. It was so freakishly unfair how all of them stayed in the same dorm building but their kitchens could produce such different results. (Yes, Kim Dokja was shamelessly and staunchly blaming the sad turnout of his meal on his kitchen.)
Yoo Joonghyuk looked like he wanted to rebuke the 'fine'-ness of the egg he received on top of that wet clump of noodles, but decided that it would come to no end and shook his head.
"Well, you probably have more gas than me, anyway." Kim Dokja muttered accusingly. "That's how your food came out so... so... stupidly delicious."
Yoo Joonghyuk scoffed. "What does gas have anything to do with it? It's called culinary skills."
"Skills, schmills." Kim Dokja looked away. "Gas is expensive, you know. BUT I haven't had to order gas in forever. I've discovered a great hack!" Seeing the way Kim Dokja's face lit up, as if prompting him to ask, Yoo Joonghyuk decided to humour him for once.
"...Okay, what's the great hack?" Internally he feels his heart melt slightly at the spark of mischief and happiness in Kim Dokja's starry eyes. He'd always thought that they looked beautiful when they looked straight at him like this.
"I just leave the stove on and light it up with a lighter when I have to cook." Kim Dokja nods proudly. "When I leave the stove on, it doesn't ignite anyway."
"Uh huh. You leave-" Yoo Joonghyuk startles as the words this stupid rat bastard had just uttered with full confidence finally sunk in. Yoo Joonghyuk shot straight up from his lying position. "You WHAT?"
"My gas tank is empty, so I just leave it on so that the little bits and pieces of gas leftover ignites when I light it." Kim Dokja even had the grace to explain to him, giving him a look like he was mercifully explaining a wonderful life hack to poor old him who doesn't know it. "But only when I need to cook, of course."
"You. LEAVE. THE. GAS. ON?" Yoo Joonghyuk forced through gritted teeth.
By god, Kim Dokja had the self preservation skills of a piece of paper in a room full of kindergarteners armed with crayons. Speaking of children, he'd reckon that even Yoo Mia, his little sister who was literally 10 years of age, had way better chances of surviving than this... this... squid before him.
"Why on earth am I even together with you?" Yoo Joonghyuk was so incredulous, so utterly flabbergasted that he had to question his own sanity out loud.
“Hey, what’s that supposed to mean?” Kim Dokja was offended, especially when he was tugged upwards by a stupidly muscular arm. (Aren’t gamers supposed to be weak shut-ins?) “H-hey, where are we going?”
“To your room.” Yoo Joonghyuk swiped his room pass off the table and threw the white slippers at his boyfriend. “NOW.”
“To do what?” The dumb bitch was still confused as he slipped his feet into the considerately prepared slippers.
“TO TURN OFF THE GAS, YOU FOOL.”
