Retrospection
...
Part of the Reborn AU(Oneshot)
Ever since Cozette had retired from her position as Wattanist, her life had changed quite a lot. Not only was she responsible for three proteges now(Eck´s included whom she unofficially had adopted ages ago), she was also responsible for the re-education of Reclusa, once Concordia´s greatest foe, now without any Glohm left, reborn once more and given a second chance by the great Conductor himself.
A task she had burdened herself with to atone for her sins against Concordia. Of course no one in the Land of Bonds even thought of Cozette in that way, for them, she still was a role model to most inhabitants. They loved her just the same and were showering her with love and respect.
A fact she had to grasp at first. It took a long time until she allowed herself to forgive herself for what she did, and it still felt weird.
That said, her current life was busy enough even without her duties as Wattanist. Now being at home most of the time, she had lots of time to herself and her thoughts, but also someone to take care of 24/7. Cozette tended to Reclusa´s every need nearly instantly, in between teaching him the ways of a true Concordian including the importance of bonds.
In the few moments Reclusa was asleep or playing for himself, she took care of the house, cleaning it thoroughly. With a baby, a child and a sloppy adolescent, there was nearly always dirt anywhere to get rid of. At least it kept her mind and body challenged. She kind of missed teaching the children of Concordia as well, and always enjoyed the rare moments when she was able to do either way, given that one of the other Wattanists had been busy or someone fell sick. Cozette was there to fill in, always, no matter what.
Frequent visitors were also part of her new life now, with Ten and Shun visiting often, if only to see how Eck´s was doing. Technikki soon joined in the fray as well, after she and Ten became an item, they were rarely ever separated from each other after all.
All things considered, retirement had its upsides as well, Cozette had to admit. All the time in the world…if only…oh if only her mind would start to realize this as well. She still sometimes catches herself thinking about stepping up to her old job, but then reminds herself that Connie now took over it, with all the responsibility that came with it. On top of attending school as well… Yes, she was indeed proud of her adopted daughter and protege…and worried about her at the same time.
Ecks was another duty Cozette had to attend to now. Still feeling guilt about her deeds as Zokket and how she treated Ecks and the others in the process, it was simply something she had to do, to make it up. That she became attached to him like a mother later on came on top of it. Something about this former delinquent simply had caught her heart and had never let go afterwards. That feeling became even stronger after she had found out about his background and how he never really had a mother figure to latch onto.
Thinking about all that now, Cozette leans back on her cozy couch, Connie, Ecks and Reclusa at her side, all curled up against her, resting peacefully. The former Wattanist followed her childrens example and began to drift off into a slumber-like state as well.
Another day had ended once more. Another day full of laughter, surprises, headaches and peace at the same time…Her mind pacified with the thought of her family being safe and sound…yes, what else could someone ask from life itself than this? Her smile was more than telling.
