Summary:

Ninetails sits down to watch the U.A. Sports Festival.

Work Text:

Ona Ayumi, known to the public as the Pro Hero Ninetails, was… Making dinner.

A nice stew to be specific. Cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, potatoes, bell peppers, tomatoes, and chucks of beef simmering in a thick broth. With some rice in the rice cooker to go along with it.

She felt a tug on her pants, looking down to see a five year old girl. She had long, fuzzy black hair With purple tips, and bright red eyes. The most peculiar attributes about this little girl were the purple tipped wolf ears and tail, as well as her fangs and claws.

“Here you go.” Ona said as she spooned a bit of stew out, holding it for the little girl to taste.

Now you may be wondering. Ona is 25, while this little girl is five. Why exactly was she having a kid at 20 years old?

Well, that’s a story for another time.

Oh, and by the way, the kid’s name is Ara.

Ona patted her child’s head.

“No more now. Wait till dinner.” Ona said, softly patting the girl’s head. Ara promptly turned and walked out of the kitchen. Ona just smirked as she finished up the food.

Ah! And just in time too! The front door opened as a large man, about eight feet and with a large build, walked in. He had bright green eyes and long, shaggy purple hair that draped past his shoulders. Like Ara, he too had a tail, along with wolf ears, claws, and fangs.

“Welcome home, how was work?”

“Same old same old.” The man yawned, accepting a kiss from his wife.

“Go ahead and get settled in. I’ll get the food ready.” She said warmly.

Thus was another night spent around the dinner table as a family.

Ona loved moments like this.

Finally, after their food had been eaten, Ona set about giving Ara a bath while her husband, Kit, did the dishes. Afterwards, she allowed the young girl to go play until bedtime. Once she was tucked in, Ona found herself on the couch with her husband, pouring herself a bottle of wine.

She had recorded the U.A. Sports Festival for several reasons. The first was that she was curious as to just how much of a bullet Midoriya had dodged when he was expelled.

The second was that she was curious about this ‘Kachan’ person Midoriya sometimes spoke about during one of his mumble storms.

Right away she could see things were going downhill.

She noted that there were only 16 students in Class 1-A compared to the other classes.

Yuga Aoyama.

Mina Ashido.

Mashirao Ojiro.

Eijiro Kirishima.

Koji Koda.

Rikido Sato.

Mezo Shoji.

Kyoka Jiro.

Hanta Sero.

Fumikage Tokoyami.

Shoto Todoroki.

Toru Hagakure.

Katsuki Bakugo. (She put pieces together and deduced this was ‘Kachan’)

Minoru Mineta.

Momo Yaoyarozu.

And finally, Hitoshi Shinso.

And then the problems became even more apparent when Bakugo was called to do the student pledge.

Instead of the rousing speech you would expect, the boy arrogantly declared he was going to win, in a manner that made it seem like he was stating an absolute fact rather than boasting. Naturally, the other students booed him, to which he turned and snarled something at them, palms crackling threateningly, to which an angry looking Midnight shooed him back to the crowd of students so she could explain the first event.

An obstacle race.

The problems there started when that Todoroki boy froze several of those utterly ridiculous ‘Zero Pointers’ U.A. had on the field, causing them to tip over and nearly crush multiple students. Ona couldn’t help but gape at not only the sheer audacity of the stunt, but also the fact that U.A. didn’t even seem to care. Even if nobody had gotten hurt this time, any more competent school would have expelled a kid on the spot for endangering live so recklessly!

Todoroki won the first round by freezing a hyper aggressive Bakugo and letting him get blasted off by mines, (Ona also took note of that Mineta boy, who had attached himself to that Yaoyarozu girl and was quiet blatantly groping her. Again, despite being clearly caught on camera, none of U.A.’s staff were doing anything about it, save for a furious Midnight who gave the boy a tongue lashing, not that he seemed to care.)

A furious and even more aggressive Bakugo won the second round, for most of which he seemed hyper fixated on a student from 1-B.

That Shinso boy also had her suspicious. His teammates just didn’t seem to even be all there mentally, a point reinforced by the fact that two of his teammates dropped out of the third round, clearly pointing out that Shinso had done something to them with his Quirk.

Finally, the one on one battles began. Todoroki seemed to rely on nothing other than brute force, creating massive glaciers of ice to freeze his opponents. Sure, such a tactic would be useful on first year students and low level villains, but against smarter and stronger opponents, especially ones who could counter his Quirk, the boy would only be a liability. He wasn’t even thinking strategically, especially since his ice in the second round nearly hit the crowd, yet another thing U.A. casually ignored.

Then there was Shinso. The boy had clearly note done much, if any, physical training if his scrawny build was any indication, and he seemed over reliant on his Quirk. On top of that, there was his taunting. From what Ona could gather, his Quirk seemed to need a verbal response to work, so he went about provoking his opponents. The problem was that quite a few of his taunts were over the line and some were outright quirkiest, especially him calling that Ojiro boy that had dropped out a ‘monkey’, yet another thing U.A. ignored, though Midnight seemed to be arguing with someone over the radio.

Finally, there was Bakugo.

The boy was a sociopath.

Hyper aggressive and volatile as hell, he wasn’t even disqualified when he brutalized that poor Ashido girl for whatever the hell she said to him that set him off, though an increasingly angry Midnight seemed to be pushing for it.

It all came to a head in the semifinals. Bakugo Vs. Shinso. Shinso had said something that Bakugo responded to, probably out of ego. Shinso used his Quirk to make Bakugo walk out of the ring. Shinso won and released Bakugo.

Bakugo was on top of Shinso, beating the boy’s face black, blue, and bloody before Midnight managed to put them under with her Quirk.

Todoroki was declared the winner by default, since Shinso was still under by the time the final match came.

“Uh, Ona, I think you’ve had enough wine-“

Ona shot her husband a glare, her eyes seeming to glow eerily in a way that told him she wasn’t in the mood.

I’ll get you another bottle!” The eight foot tall wall of a man squeaked.

Finally, the awards ceremony. Ona nearly spit out her wine at the sight of Bakugo outright chained to the podium, thrashing around like a feral beast.

What the fuck!? There’s no way this was legal! How the fuck was U.A. allowed to get away with this!?

A thoroughly unimpressed looking All Might pulled out the gag in Bakugo’s mouth, to which the boy immediately started screaming out threats and swears, prompting All Might to force the gag back on and put the bronze medal around the boy’s neck, shaking his head in disgust and disappointment. Frankly, All Might didn’t seem impressed with any of the winners, save for that Tokoyami boy who shared the bronze with Bakugo.

Interesting.

Her curiosity sated, and her disgust in the whole thing evident, Ona sent a picture of Bakugo chained up to Izuku, with a single line of text.

NINETAILS: WE NEED TO TALK.

Meanwhile, at U.A., Aizawa was busy filling out the expulsion papers for one Mashirao Ojiro.
