Work Text:
It's been a year since Mitsuki and Aya graduated from college. Aya majored in Bachelor of Design and started her own clothing line, while Mitsuki took Bachelor of Fine arts and started to focus more on her musical career making her artist name, “Me to Her” talk of the town.
They've been living together ever since they decided to move into Tokyo and people around them, from close friends, to family members, even their co-workers, often tease them together. Aya would blush ridiculously while Mitsuki would just laugh and look at Aya with such soft and tender eyes without her noticing it herself.
One random day, Aya’s mother visited Aya at her workplace and decided to visit Mitsuki after.
While walking to Mitsuki's studio, Aya's mom started talking.
“So, how's living with Mitsuki?”
“It's fun! We usually sleep together with our cute cat daughter and we tend to just hang around in silence while listening to our favorite bands.”
“It's been a year, I still can't believe that the first ever guy you were interested in, wasn't even a guy at all. But I'm glad you're happy with her.”
“Thank you for always being supportive, mom. I love you!”
Aya kisses her mom's cheek while her mom looks at her lovingly while thinking how much her daughter has grown.
They finally reached the door of Mitsuki's studio and saw her with the other staff at the studio. They were busy talking about Mitsuki's new album.
“Mitsuki!”
“Aya-san, you're here! And also, Hi auntie!”
Aya's mom smiled and said, “It's been a year already since your wedding with my daughter, and you're still calling me Auntie?” She laughed while saying that while the rest of the staff, along with Mitsuki, became oddly quiet.
Aya, like the usual, blush ridiculously while looking at her mom.
“Mom I told you, stop teasing her!”
While Aya's playfully fighting with her mom, Mitsuki was shocked by what she just heard.
Her? Married? With whom? Aya??? For 1 year already? AND SHE DIDN'T EVEN KNOW???
Lots of questions flooded her mind and Aya noticed her silence. She slowly walked beside Mitsuki and held her cheeks so she could look at her. With worry in her eyes, Aya asked Mitsuki.
“Hey hun, are you okay? Is there anything wrong?”
Ba dump
Mitsuki's heartbeat suddenly went fast to the point she feels like her heart’s going to go out of her chest any second now. She's still confused about the sudden marriage revelation but she cannot deny that she loves the idea of having Aya as her wife.
She may not have told anyone about it yet, but she already fell for this pink haired girl in front of her the first time she went inside their cd shop.
She unconsciously grabbed Aya's waist and asked her:
“What's happening? We… I… you're my wife? Si-since when???”
Because of her confusion, along with her hidden anticipation and happiness of the idea, she forgot that they're still in public and everyone can hear and see them right now.
Aya, on the other hand, felt shocked because of the sudden question.
“What do you mean, ‘Since when?’ Mitsuki Koga? YOU'RE CURRENTLY WEARING OUR WEDDING RING????? WHY ARE YOU SUDDENLY ACTING LIKE ITS YOUR FIRST TIME LEARNING THAT WE'RE MARRIED?”
Mitsuki's eyes widened with that discovery and took a look at the ring on her finger.
“I… I thought you asked me to get this ring together so we can match… Don't friends get matching rings sometimes?”
Aya sighed and figured out what's happening…her wife's obliviousness with things… Why did she end up loving this woman again?
“What about the wedding that we did? Don't tell me you thought it's just a simple photoshoot?”
“... It wasn't a photoshoot for your wedding theme clothing line at that time…??”
As time passes by, Aya can already feel the massive headache in her temple while the people around them are still trying to figure out if they should laugh or cry about how oblivious Mitsuki is.
“Mitsuki… We're literally been sleeping on the same bed every night, for a year already. We even have our wedding picture displayed in the living room. I AM LITERALLY CALLED AYA KOGA NOW!”
“I THOUGHT THEY WERE CALLING YOU THAT BECAUSE THEY'RE TEASING US!!!!”
By that, even Aya's mom, who was formerly shocked and confused, started laughing at the two love birds. Even the staff around them started doing so as well, which snapped them back to the reality that other people can still hear them.
Not only Aya, but Mitsuki as well ended up looking redder than a tomato out of embarrassment and decided to excuse themselves to talk in private.
While walking out, Mitsuki intertwined her hand on Aya's while Aya's trying to walk as fast as she can while hiding her red face.
“You're SOOOOOO dead once we get home, Koga-san.”
Listening to her threatening words, Mitsuki looked at her wife lovingly and laughed when she realized she's mad at her since she called her using her surname, which she hasn't done so for so long already. She was confused at first why she started calling her by her first name, but now? She knows why, and she's loving it
“I cannot wait, Mrs. Aya Koga.” She whispered to her ear which made Aya's face redder.
