Hit Me Like A Hurricane (ON HIATUS)

Summary:

STORY ON HIATUS

The first time Chloe Bourgeois met Marinette Dupain-Cheng was when the 12-year-old baker girl spilled boba tea all over her designer pants. Chloe made a promise to hate her ever since. So, that's how it went all throughout school.

Now, fifteen years after graduation, Chloe is faced with a tough decision to hire a replacement fashion designer for her next show due to some unforeseen events. Luckily, Adrien suggested a new and upcoming designer: D.C. Design's. Chloe thought having a designer from the states would be the best. What she didn't consider was the fact that D.C. did not stand for "District of Columbia."

As she stares back at bluebell eyes, she realizes one very important thing she had missed before.

D.C. = Dupain-Cheng

As in Marinette Dupain-Cheng.

Fuck.

OR

Some Chloenette for Femslash February!

Notes:

I've been slowly re-entering the MLB fandom after S6 came out, and let me just say that for some reason I became really fixated on this pairing (has absolutely nothing to do with my love for enemies to lovers, totally not... 😅) so I said fuck it and decided to toss my hat in the ring. Also because FUCK Zag and MLB for butchering Chloe's redemption arc, least they could've done is make her villain arc good but they couldn't even do that 🙄
Anyway, to clarify before we get started, this is partially canon divergent. This is a powerless AU, but beyond that pretty much all the events are still the same, they're just the past now. I am also changing how Marinette and Chloe meet (I actually got this idea from a dream I had lol). They're all aged up, if that's not obvious, so some warnings for explicit and suggestive language (I do not know yet if I will add smut so look for updates and tags). Also, I have no idea how the fashion world works, so I'm sorry if this is inaccurate af. Other than that, enjoy the shit show!

Additional Note: title from Luke Combs song 'Hurricane'

Chapter Text

"This is a disaster, Adrien! Did you hear me? A disaster!" Chloe yelled into the phone, exasperated. She would almost feel bad for how loud she was yelling at A firm if she wasn't so utterly pissed off.

"Yes, Chloe. You've said that about ten times now," came Adrien's voice, slightly annoyed but more so amused. Chloe picked up on said amusement and that made her even more angry.

"You think this is so funny, don't you Agreste?"

Adrien huffed on the other line. "Do I think it's funny that after a multitude of outbursts from my temperamental childhood friend that her fashion designer just quit a mouth before her new fashion show debutes? A little."

"Oh don't be like that, Adrien. She was clearly being dramatic. I can't see what lowly designer just quits after seven- let me say that again- SEVEN years of working for one of the biggest companies and the best model in all of France."

Adrien huffed again, although it was more of a resigned sign. "Chloe, we've talked about this, about your attitude. I thought you were trying to change."

"I..." Chloe trailed off, distinctly remembering her promise to Adrien to be better.

"Seriously, Chlo," Adrien started again. "It's like we're back in lycée again. We're not teenagers anymore."

Chloe sighed and sat down in her office chair. Sure, maybe it was immature to be yelling at work, even with the door closed, but she was pissed. And sure, maybe it was partially (entirely) her fault for her designer for quitting, but trying to juggle being a model and trying to take over as owner of one of the largest fashion companies out there is really stressful and her old fashion designer was making one too many mistakes.

"Look, I know Adri. I know I promised I'd be better. I know it's been so long since we've left school and I do really want to leave that Chloe behind, things are just really difficult right now."

"I know you've got a lot on your plate, Chlo. From modeling to ownership, but that doesn't mean you can revert to your old ways once things get a little rough."

Chloe sighed again. She knew this already. She really did, and she didn't want to be lectured by her best friend whom she knows has a disappointed dad look on his face right now. Although, it probably wouldn't be as bad as Gabriel Agreste, his father. Chloe hated how Gabriel could change Adrien's entire demeanor with that look. Which is why both Chloe and Adrien decided to seperate themselves, personally and professionally, from their parents. They vowed to be better than either of their kin, which was probably why Adrien was badgering her about this.

She leaned into the desk and lowered her face into her palms. "Yeah, yeah, I get it." She said, muffled through her hands.

"I..." Adrien started. "Nevermind."

Chloe sat up at this, wondering what just came to Adrien's mind right now.

"What is it?" She asked.

"Nothing, it's nothing."

"Adrien..."

"I promise it's nothing!"

"Adrien. Agreste," Chloe said through gritted teeth. "You are going to tell me exactly what you were going to say right this instant or I am flying a plane to London to drag it out of your ass."

Adrien groaned, like he knew he regretting saying anything, he probably did.

"I may have an idea for a replacement designer..."

"That's great!" Chloe shouted, jumping up from her chair in excitement. If Adrien could find a replacement that means her first show as model and owner of Queen Bee Fashion would be saved!

"There's one problem, Chlo," Adrien said in an anxious voice.

"Oh great. What, did they work for my mother previously? Do they have a criminal record? Oh my god do not tell me you're going to be hiring some psycho serial killer for me!"

"God, Chloe, no!" Adrien said, raising his voice to shake Chloe out of her rambling. "I just don't think you'll like this decision after I tell you who it is."

"Well, who is it?" Chloe asked plainly.

"The name of the company is... D.C. Design's, D.C. standing for-"

"District of Columbia?! Adrien, can you seriously get me a designer from the legit capital of America?"

"Chloe, that's not what D.C. mean-"

"I mean sure, having an American on my team would be new and would probably take some time getting used to, but I already have a few British people here so it can't be too difficult!"

"Chloe, you really need to understand who this person is-"

"I mean we would probably have to work out living arrangements and you'd have to do some convincing to get them to move across the world, but you're Adrien Agreste if anyone can charm the pants off of anyone it's you!"

"Chloe!"

"Yes?" Chloe answered, not quiet sure why Adrien is yelling at her.

"Just... don't get your hopes up. I still have to ask them if they want to take this job. Again, if. I think they'll like it, but I don't want to make any promises beforehand."

"Oh, Adrikins, I'm sure everything will just be perfect!"

"Okay," Adrien responded, warily. "Just don't say I didn't warn you."

At that, Adrien clicked off.

Huh, that was weird. Usually Adrien at least says his goodbyes before hanging up, the only time he didn't was when he was mad at Chloe. Was he mad at her? Nah, he's probably just tired. And what the hell did he mean by "don't say I didn't warn you" warn me about what?

Chloe would soon find out that Adrien did, in fact, try to warn her. Unfortunately, that wouldn't prepare her for the surprise that was waiting for her. And boy, what a surprise it was.
