Chapter Text

It has been a month since the Sparrow Scouts were tasked to come up with a better version of their current fundraiser, following the announcement by the Trolberg City Hall that the Sparrow Scouts’ budget will be reduced.

This lead to an uproar among the families of the Sparrow Scouts, especially the parents of David, Frida, Hilda, and Louise. When they were informed by their respective child on the news. However, all the parents have good news for all of them.

The respective Parents of David, Frida, and Hilda got the job as Pilots for Trolberg Airlines, Trolberg’s newly established flag carrier. Louise’s dad Henry, the former bell keeper, got a job as a ground operation leader, where he will be in charge of ground operations at the upcoming Hulderlands Airport.

As of now the parents of David, Frida, and Hilda, have already started their Pilot training where the dads will be doing international passenger flights using an Airbus A320, while the mothers will be doing domestic flights using an ATR 72 for both cargo and passenger.

Louise’s father is currently being trained together with his ground crew team on ground operations at the upcoming Hulderlands Airport such as aircraft support operations, loading and unloading of cargo, and passenger boarding and disembarking from planes either using an aero bridge, or boarding stairs.

Both he and the ground crew are also trained on how to safely board and disembark passengers, together with the procedures to load and unload cargo on planes with integrated stairs such as the ATR 72.

However, he will not be handling security, emergency response, and air traffic control at the airport.

Sparrow Scouts Hall

After David, Frida, Hilda, and Louise entered the Sparrow Scout Hall with a board and some rolled-up papers containing their proposal for the fundraiser. They all saw the other Sparrow Scouts with something similar, and some of the groups have a large luggage bag which is normally used for travelling, together with the items they will use for the proposal.

David noticed one of the bags has a suit inside, which he assumed it is for presentation as he saw one of the Sparrow Scouts walking into the male toilet to change into the outfit.

As they are going to their assigned area, they noticed some of the other Scouts practising their pitch to everyone including the Raven Leader. Where David, Frida, Hilda, and Louise noticed some of the proposals involved a raffle, a craft fair, and a small carnival with games, food and small items being sold.

David, Frida, Hilda, and Louise know they have to make sure they can convince everyone to do a food festival as a fundraiser similar to how they do the Sparrow Scouts’ broth at the winter festival market. Where during the festival the Sparrow Scouts will be operating different stalls selling different types of food such as hamburgers, hot dogs, and Sandwiches, with one stall selling drinks, and another selling ice cream.

However, unknown to David, Frida, Hilda, and Louise what they are seeing is just a decoy to avoid the Raven leader from being suspicious of the plan made by the Sparrow Scouts. As the Sparrow Scouts except for David, Frida, Hilda, and Louise, have already agreed to give a landslide vote on the decision they all made without David, Frida, Hilda, and Louise knowing about it.

Where they do not want the Raven Leader to suspect them of the dishonest practice of collusion, which goes against the values of the Sparrow Scouts.

After all of the Sparrow Scouts gathered in their groups and managed to ready their presentation for the fundraiser to save the Sparrow Scouts from the Budget cuts.

The Raven Leader got on to the stage to address the Sparrow Scouts. However, despite her ability to maintain a straight face in trying circumstances, everyone detected that she is upset.

After she got onto the stage, she announced that she was unable to find any companies or organisations to sponsor the Sparrow Scouts despite her best efforts, as a lot of companies in Trolberg are either downsizing or moving their operations out of Trolberg.

Where most of the Sparrow Scouts know about it, as their families are directly affected by the news of companies in Trolberg either downsizing or moving their operations out of Trolberg. Where most people in Trolberg believed that the Trolberg Safety Patrol’s Anti-Troll focus before Gerda Gustav took over, might have something to do with the current economic crisis. However, they just dismissed it as a rumour.

After she broke the news, the Raven Leader started the event where the Sparrow Scouts will be presenting their ideas to save the Sparrow Scouts. The Sparrow Scouts are confident that the idea all of them secretly agreed on will save the Sparrow Scouts from the impending budget cuts.

However, David, Frida, Hilda, and Louise will find out what the plan is once the group presents it, where the idea will be presented to everyone.

Once it is time for David, Frida, Hilda, and Louise to present their proposal, all of them proposed to everyone to do a food festival as a fundraiser similar to how they do the Sparrow Scouts’ broth at the winter festival market.

Where during the festival the Sparrow Scouts will be operating different stalls selling different types of food such as hamburgers, hot dogs, and Sandwiches, with one stall selling drinks, and another selling ice cream.

As the festival would be held in the Sparrow Scout Hall, setting up the equipment for food and beverage preparation together with the other supporting items and logistics would be straightforward with minimal planning.

Everyone despite being wowed by the idea knows that it is as hard as it sounds, after David, Frida, Hilda, and Louise finished their presentation, they returned to their place for the last group to present.

Where the idea presented by the final group is the idea all of the Sparrow Scouts except for David, Frida, Hilda, and Louise, have secretly agreed to give a landslide majority vote.

As the last group got on stage David realised that one of the group members was wearing the same suit he had seen earlier, it was then that he realised it was a Butler Outfit. As all four of them watched the group bring up their proposal, they noticed that one of the female Sparrow Scouts in the group is wearing a black dress with an ankle-length skirt, a white apron, her hair is tied with a red ribbon, with a white ruffled headpiece. Lastly, she is wearing a pair of white socks with sneakers.

It was then that all four of them realised that their fellow Sparrow Scout is wearing a maid outfit and that the group would be proposing one of their ideas which they scrapped, as that idea despite being relatively easier to do compared with the idea they presented earlier, as they have to deal with one topic, and many people can work on one aspect of the fundraiser to save time.

However, the idea is too cliché and it requires everyone to learn how to put on an act, get either a maid or butler outfit, and prepare the café in a short time, which requires a lot of work despite the fundraiser involving all the Sparrow Scouts, which will make it easier.

After the group had presented the idea and returned to their seats, the Raven Leader asked everyone to go to the front and put a sticker on a chart showing the group numbers to vote on whose idea should be implemented for the fundraiser. Where the results have already been secretly decided a month ago.

David, Frida, Hilda, and Louise, together with some Sparrow Scouts voted for the idea to hold a food festival.

However, the idea for a Butler and Maid café won by a landslide, resulting in the Raven Leader choosing the idea much to the disappointment of David, Frida, Hilda, and Louise. Where the Raven Leader and them do not suspect any collusion by the other Sparrow Scouts. 

Chapter Text

After a huge majority of the Sparrow Scouts voted for the Maid and Butler café and the Raven Leader approved of the idea. The Raven leader informed everyone, they have a month to prepare the fundraiser to save the Sparrow Scouts. Where the fundraiser will be done at the end of the month, if successful the Sparrow Scouts can continue with their current activities until the following year.

After the Raven Leader dismissed everyone. Harry, the group leader for the Butler and Maid café idea wasting no time, placed a few group lists on a board in front of the Stage showing the team assignments for the Café. Which was made when they were preparing the proposal, where an assigned team will take care of one aspect of the café, such as cooking, logistics, operating the café, and those who are the Butlers and Maids serving the guests.

After the group lists have been placed, all of the Sparrow Scouts went in their respective proposal groups to see their team assignments, where some of the Scouts were clearly unhappy with the assignments.

However, they all went through with it as they know it is for the future of the Sparrow Scouts, where Faridah or better known as the Hijabi Sparrow Scout got assigned with the with an advertising and decoration role in the logistics team where she will be advertising the Café to everyone in Trolberg and do up the decorations for the Café.

As her mum is a journalist, she will be able to get her mum to help and get access to materials to advertise the café, which is also possible with Hilda and her mum. However, Hilda’s mum decided to undergo a career change to an Airline Pilot after she completed her Trolberg Airport and Airline commission, as she decided after a lot of consideration that her old job as a freelance graphic designer is unsustainable in the long term.

After David, Frida, Hilda, and Louise glanced through the group lists to find their assigned team, all of them saw their names on the list marked Butlers and Maids where they will be serving the customers at the café. However, unknown to them their name is on the list as a joke for the Freaky Friends by the Sparrow Scouts who pitched for the Butler and Maid Café idea.

After everyone found which team they were assigned to, all of them reported to the respective team leader of their assigned team.

After David, Frida, Hilda, and Louise got into their assigned team, Harry who is their team leader, and is currently wearing a butler outfit requested that his teammates look at the sizing chart for him to order correct number of Butler and Maid outfits, which they will be receiving and wearing on the day of the fundraiser. However, secretly Harry has a plan for David’s outfit for the Café.

After everyone have already submitted their names together with the sizes for their respective Butler or Maid outfit, all of them got started how to put on an act for the Café either as a Butler or Maid, which are basically how to serve the guests and all the lines are the same for both the Butlers and the Maids.

However, to save cost everyone are allowed to wear any kinds of covered shoes except boots with their outfit.

Where surprisingly everyone are extremely enthusiastic in learning on how to put on an act for the Café,Hilda, David, and Frida suspected that everyone had prepared for this a long time ago. However, they all dismissed it, as they and all the Sparrow Scouts know it is difficult to get a huge majority of Sparrow Scouts to agree on something, on the scale they saw earlier.

As David, Frida, Hilda, and Louise are practicing with their teammates for their roles in the fundraiser they noticed the other Sparrow Scouts working hard on the different aspects of the café in their assigned team. Where they all know that the future of the Sparrow Scouts are in their collective hands, and that the fundraiser will determine the future of the Sparrow Scouts.

However, the Raven Leader, David, Frida, Hilda, and Louise do not know that most of the Sparrow Scouts colluded to get the café idea, and that there is a surprise waiting for everyone at the end of the fundraiser.

Chapter Text

One Month Later-Sparrow Scout Hall.

Prep Phase

The efforts by the Sparrow Scouts to prepare for the fundraiser to save the Sparrow Scouts by doing a Maid and Butler café will be put to the test, as today it is the day of the fundraiser.

Currently final preparations are being done, with the food that they will be serving the customers being brought in together with the cutlery, and tableware, by the Sparrow Scouts’ Kitchen and Logistics teams. Meanwhile near the changing area for the Scouts who will be playing the role as either a butler or maid, everyone are getting their respective uniforms which had been ordered a month ago.

However, Harry will be giving the freaky friends their uniform last, as he and his gang has a surprise which they will do to humiliate the freaky friends, during the fundraiser involving the uniforms.

After David, Frida, Hilda, and Louise were called to receive their respective uniforms, where Frida, Hilda, and Louise received the same maid outfits all the other female Sparrow Scouts which is a black dress with an ankle-length skirt, a white apron, with a white ruffled headpiece. Where all of them will be tying their hair into a ponytail with a red ribbon, with Frida and other female Sparrow Scouts with poofy hair given two ribbons to tie their hair into pigtails, which goes well with the maid outfit.

However, to the surprise of David, Frida, Hilda, and Louise, David is given a maid outfit with a long-haired wig that matches his hair colour, pre-tied into a ponytail with a red ribbon. Before all four of them could raise their objection. Harry lied to them that there are no more butler outfits available from the supplier, as he purposely ordered the Maid outfit to humiliate David during the fundraiser.

However, all four of them decided not to argue as they know that the fundraiser will start soon and there is no time for David to go home and get his suit. Where David decided to go through with it and see how the day goes, secretly he does not mind wearing a maid outfit. However, it will be highly embarrassing if anyone finds out his secret.

After everyone changed in their respective outfits, they all gathered at their earlier meeting place. Where David is dressed in a Maid outfit with the wig, walked to the meeting point expecting to be laughed at.

However, everyone in the room including Harry are surprised, not at David looking silly when he is wearing the maid outfit with the wig, but at how great David looked in the maid outfit. As David wound up rocking the maid outfit much to the disappointment of Harry, which Harry does not show.

Where the rest of the Sparrow Scouts complimented David on his outfit, which boosted his self-confidence. After everyone completed the final preparations, where the customers mainly the residents of Trolberg are already waiting outside.

The Raven Leader opened the doors to the Hall marking the start of the fundraiser to save the Sparrow Scouts.

Go time.

After all the customers are seated, the Maids and Butlers started taking everyone’s food and drink orders before they send it to the kitchen for the Sparrow Scouts in the kitchen to prepare the order, which the Maids and Butlers will send to the table once the order is prepared.

To both save time and space, most of the food are pre-cooked offsite by the caterer. Where the Sparrow Scouts only need to reheat the food, do the finishing touches such as plating and garnishing, and prepare the drinks and desserts for the customers.

Due to the nature of the event, a Journalist from the Trolberg Daily is present to do a story. However, it does not help that the Journalist is Faridah’s mum, Fatimah. Who is a good friend of Hilda’s mum, Johanna, and David’s mum, Erika, and that Faridah’s little sister, Natasha is present with her mum.

Where David secretly hoped that Fatimah and Natasha do not see through his outfit, thankfully Louise is the one serving both Fatimah and Natasha, where despite the all food served in the café being halal certified and having vegan options.

Both Fatimah and Natasha ordered a large Ice Cream Sundae to be shared among both of them consisting of Strawberry, Vanilla, Chocolate Ice cream, with chocolate syrup, whipped cream, cherries, sprinkles, and chocolate shavings.

However, Fatimah ordered a Cappuccino for herself and hot chocolate for Natasha. Which Louise took their order to the kitchen. After Fatimah’s order was taken, she started writing something in her notepad for her article.

Where the Raven Leader upon seeing that, hoped that the article will help to save the Sparrow Scouts from the impending Budget cut by the City Hall.

After a while, Trevor together with his mum entered the Café, and to make things worse Trevor’s gang members and their respective families also arrived. Where despite reconciling with them a few months after the Mountain King incident, relations with between Trevor and his gang are neutral, with both sides agreeing to leave each other alone.

Hilda, David, and Frida, together with Louise quickly walked to them hoping for the worse. However, other Sparrow Scouts have already taken the orders of Trevor, his mum, and Trevor’s gang members and their respective families, much to the relief of all four of them.

However, Trevor and his gang saw Hilda, David, and Frida in the maid outfits, where all of them did not laugh not because of the presence of their parents and for Trevor his mum, as Hilda, David, and Frida looked great in the maid outfit.

Where Trevor secretly felt jealous at David wearing a Maid outfit, as David rocked the Maid outfit and wished he could do the same despite his mum disapproving of David wearing a Maid outfit and telling him to stay far away from Hilda, David, and Frida, and also Louise.

Where he wished he hadn’t accused Hilda of being a witch in the past. However, his mum does not know about him and his gang reconciling with Hilda, David, and Frida.

However, David, Hilda, Louise, Trevor’s gang members, their families, and Frida’s parents do not know that both Frida and Trevor are now friends.

As all four of them were about to go to the kitchen to fetch an order for other tables, all of them spotted a familiar White-haired lady, whom Hilda, David, and Frida reconised as Gerda Gustav, the Head of the Trolberg Safety Patrol. However, a teenage girl with the same hair colour as her, walked in behind her and followed her to an empty table after being directed by a Sparrow Scout, whom Hilda, David, and Frida reconised as David’s former Marra.

Which raised some questions among the three of them, David quickly went to their table forgetting that he is wearing a maid outfit, to take their order.

When he reached the table, Gerda both saw through his outfit and reconised his voice. Where after David took their order,he asked Gerda about his former Marra.

David:

Ms.Gerda may I ask if she is your niece, your younger sister, or your daughter? I am curious.

Gerda:  

She is my daughter David, she will be going off to University away from Trolberg in a month’s time. We decided to spend some time before she goes off for her studies.

 David:

Sorry for asking, may I know where is your husband and does Greta have any siblings?

 Gerda:

To answer your question David, it is only me and Greta in Trolberg. I don’t want to go into details but Greta is an only child and I got custody of her after I divorced my husband. We both moved to Trolberg after my divorce to start a new life.

David:

I see, sorry for asking Ms.Gerda. Greta sorry to hear about that and best wishes for your studies.

Greta:

Thank you, David, also nice dress.

David:

You are welcome and thank you, Greta.

After taking both Gerda’s and Greta’s order, David headed to the kitchen for the kitchen to prepare the order. Where he secretly wished he hadn’t asked the last question. However, he told Frida, Hilda, and Louise that his former Marra is Gerda’s daughter.

After the four of them finished waiting some tables, the parents of David, Frida, and Hilda arrived, together with Henry, Louise’s father and Kaisa the Librarian whom Louise’s father have been dating for a while, arrived to the café. Which the four of them spotted when they are going to their table.

Where David knows it will be embarrassing if they saw him in the outfit. However, what he saw made him, Frida, Hilda, and Louise laugh internally once all four of them went to their table.

As the men are wearing a maid outfit similar to theirs and unlike David, the men are not wearing a wig and a ruffled headpiece. Where despite both Hilda’s and David’s dad each having a moustache, as David’s dad has to get rid of his beard to work as a Pilot for safety reasons, and the Henry otherwise known as the Bellkeeper, who will be the ground operations leader at the new airport having a beard. All of them managed to look great in the maid outfit.

Lastly the ladies are wearing a butler outfit, where the mums of David, Frida, and Hilda have their hair cut to neck length and trimmed for work, which happens to be a great look for them. Where all the ladies looked great in their butler outfits to everyone’s surprise.

Before David, Frida, Hilda, and Louise could ask, the men told them not to ask. However, all of their respective dads will tell them about it at home and hinted that it had to do with the opening of the new Airport and the launching of the first flight from the new Airport.

David, Frida, Hilda, and Louise wondered what the surprise is, before all of them took their order, before sending it to be prepared in the kitchen. Where all the Parents of David, Frida, and Hilda, together with Henry and Kaisa wondering why is David wearing a maid outfit, and why he looks great in it.

The fundraiser officially ended after the last customers have left the Sparrow Scouts Hall. Where all of the Sparrow Scouts despite having time for a break during the entire fundraiser were exhausted, especially the Scouts who were working in the kitchen, the Scouts who were the Maids and Butlers, and the who were Scouts handling the customers.

Where all of the Sparrow Scouts felt the summer heat, despite the cool summer and the Sparrow Scout Hall being well ventilated from the fans in the hall.

After everyone has put away the tables and chairs, did the washing up, cleaned up the hall, put the chair covers and tablecloths in the laundry to be returned to and washed by the supplier, and took out the garbage. They all quickly freshened up and changed into their Sparrow Scouts uniforms, before they placed their respective Maid and Butler Outfits in a laundry to be returned to and cleaned by the supplier.  

Where all of them gathered at the in front of the stage for debriefing by the Raven Leader.

The Raven Leader congratulated everyone on a job well done for the fundraiser. However, she commented on David wearing a Maid Outfit instead of a Butler Outfit, which she informed Harry and his team to be more careful next time round. Which Harry and his team acknowledged the comment and that she will be vetting all the orders before approving it to avoid a similar incident.

She informed everyone that they will know the results of the fundraiser the following week as she will be meeting with city hall before the next Sparrow Scout meeting, after she calculated how much they have raised during the fundraiser. 

Where the Scouts knows it looks extremely promising due to the amount of people coming to the café.

After she finished informing everyone about next week’s meeting and once again congratulating them on a job well done, she dismissed everyone from the hall.

However, unknown to the Scouts there will be a surprise waiting for them at the next Sparrow Scout meeting.

Chapter Text

One Week Later-Sparrow Scout Hall.

Today is the day that everyone are looking forward to, which is the announcement of the results of the fundraiser done in the previous week by the Raven Leader. Where everyone are optimistic that their fundraiser, which they worked hard to do, will save the Sparrow Scouts from the budget cut by the City Hall.

However, when the Raven Leader entered the hall, most, if not all, of the Sparrow Scouts detected something was wrong as the Raven Leader walked to the stage holding a clipboard under her arm and a messenger bag is slung over her left shoulder.

After reaching the stage she took out a stack of papers from a file in the messenger bag placed them on a table in front of the stage, before she placed a rock on them to act as a paperweight.

After doing that she went on stage, placed her bag behind the curtains on the stage, brought out her clipboard, looked at her clipboard, took a deep breath to compose herself, and walked up to the Podium to address the Sparrow Scouts.

All of the Scouts know that she will be announcing the results of the fundraiser soon. However, they know something is very wrong based on the atmosphere and how the Raven Leader is acting as she walked in.

After going through the papers on her clipboard, she took a deep breath, and tested the microphone and speakers, before she started to address the Sparrow Scouts.

Raven Leader:

Good Morning Sparrows, I know what everyone in this room are excited to the results of the fundraiser we did last week, where based on turnout, we can consider it a success. Which we all can agree.

(All of the Sparrow Scouts agreed with the statement made by the Raven Leader)

Raven Leader:

Sparrows, I have good news and bad news regarding last week’s fundraiser.

I will say the good news first, I have already counted the money we got from the fundraiser and the amount raised managed to cover both the cost of the fundraiser and it is more than enough to continue the current arrangement of the Sparrow Scouts for a year.

Which means that your batch will not need to graduate at the next Badge Ceremony, and if we can sustain this we will be saved from the budget cut long enough until the next Trolberg election, Trolberg budget, or until we could find sponsors for the Sparrow Scouts.

Where after meeting with City Hall and going over the Sparrow Scouts, they agreed that our enhanced fundraiser, together with the winter festival broth sal,e are able to sustain the Sparrow Scouts in their current arrangement.

(After hearing that everyone in the room cheered at the good news, before everyone shimmered down as they knew they had not heard the bad news.)

Raven Leader:

 I know I am happy to hear that too, however, on to the bad news.

The City Hall despite the success of the fundraiser, decided to go through with the Sparrow Scouts budget cut and their decision to change the cut-off age to 13 years old for the current batch and 12 years old for the following batches.

Where the reason they informed me was that doing the enhanced fundraiser yearly, despite them knowing it from the fundraiser last week, which took two months to prepare, which is a rush job, done on a limited budget, something that the Sparrow Scouts have never done before, and it being a success.

Where they informed me that something like that would take around three months to prepare well, they decided that it would not be fair for everyone, including the Sparrow Scouts to do a major yearly fundraiser.

Hence, they decided to go through with the Sparrow Scouts budget cut and their decision to change the cutoff age to 13 years old for the current batch and 12 years old for the following batches until further notice. Where all other options have been exhausted, and we are forced to do this.

I know this is a huge disappointment as we have put in a lot of hard work into the fundraiser, and no one, including the City Hall wants this, but hard decisions have to be made for the greater good. Where your upcoming Badge Ceremony will be your final Badge Ceremony as Sparrow Scouts, and you all will graduate from the Sparrow Scouts during the ceremony.

(After hearing the bad news, the whole hall erupted into an uproar before being silenced by the Raven Leader’s whistle)

Raven Leader:

I know you all are disappointed with the news, as we all have worked hard for and during the fundraiser, and no one, including the City Hall wants this, but hard decisions have to be made for the greater good.

However, the City Hall will be inviting your batch to the official opening of the Hulderlands International Airport and the launch of Trolberg Airlines. The first flights from Hulderlands International Airport, by Trolberg Airlines will be taking place on the day of the opening.

The City Hall decided as a way to make it up to your batch, decided that as a closer to your service as a Sparrow Scout. You all will be participating in a major historical event in Trolberg, which is the official opening of the Hulderlands International Airport, the launch of Trolberg Airlines and the first flights from Hulderlands International Airport, by Trolberg Airlines.

Where you all will assist both the Trolberg Police Force, and Trolberg Safety Patrol in Crowd Control for the event, send the Pilots and Passengers off from the Airport, and assist members of public if needed. The details will be discussed later on, when we will go to the Airport for a briefing after we take a 30-minute break.

Where the official opening of the Airport and the first flights of Trolberg Airlines will be around a month from now.

Before I end the speech and you all go for a break, please take a letter from the front of the hall to inform your parents or guardians about the decision by the City Hall, signed by both the Mayor and me.

Meet back in the hall at 10:30 am for the bus to head to the Airport for the briefing.

That is all Thank you.

After the speech has ended, everyone got out of their seats to get the letters from the front of the hall. Harry and his gang have a horrible feeling that their plan to bully the Freaky Friends backfired badly, and possibly exploded in their faces, as David rocked the Maid outfit and that they may have doomed the Sparrow Scouts with their plan to get the Butler and Maid Café.

They managed to get most of the Sparrow Scouts to collude on the idea by promising them, it will be easier to do as it is a popular theme and they only need to focus on one theme with a large team working on one aspect of the project. They promised that the idea would save the Sparrow Scouts as it will raise enough money to save the Sparrow Scouts.

However, their idea, despite fulfilling most of their promises and everyone experiencing that working with a large team on a specific aspect of the project made their job easier and that they raised enough to save the Sparrow Scouts.

However, despite raising enough money, the fundraiser was unable to save the Sparrow Scouts. Now, most of the Scouts are starting to turn against Harry and his gang for possibly dooming the Sparrow Scouts, even though it was not Harry's fault.

All Harry and his gang had to do was to face the music from their fellow Sparrow Scouts and take a hit on their reputation.

After the Briefing at Hulderlands International Airport, 5 pm-Sparrow Scout Hall.

After the Sparrow Scouts have finished both the tour and the briefing on the opening of the new Hulderlands International Airport, located within an hour’s drive from Trolberg and the launch of Trolberg Airlines. They all headed back to the Sparrow Scout Hall exhausted.

Where the Sparrow Scouts were briefed together with the Four Cadet Corps in Trolberg, which are the Trolberg Fire Service Cadet Corps, Trolberg Civil Defence Cadet Corps, Trolberg Police Cadet Corps, and Trolberg Safety Patrol Cadet Corps.

Where some Scouts and Police, and Safety Patrol cadets will assist in Crowd Control at the Airport together with members of the Police and Safety Patrol.

Some Scouts, and Fire Service and Civil Defence Cadets will do first aid and emergency response together with members of the Fire Service and Civil Defence.

However, the rest of the Scouts and Cadets were given the task of sending off the maiden flights of Trolberg Airlines by either waving the flag of Trolberg as the Pilots and Passengers get on the plane, holding a placard, or distributing a memento of the occasion to the Pilots and Passengers.

While some members of the Fire Service, Civil Defence, Police, and Safety Patrol form a Guard of Honour as the Mayor officially opens the Airport and launch the newly established Trolberg Airlines.

After reaching the Sparrow Scout Hall, all the Scouts gathered in the hall for debriefing by the Raven Leader before being dismissed.

Later Outside the Sparrow Scouts hall

After everyone left the Sparrow Scout Hall, Harry and his gang quickly tried to find the Freaky Friends. Where luck would have it they found the Freaky Friends together, after all of them got the attention of the Freaky Friends. Harry and his gang informed them that they wanted to talk.

After David, Frida, Hilda, and Louise agreed to the request of Harry and his gang. They walked to a quiet area near the Sparrow Scout Hall. After ensuring they are alone Harry and his gang told the Freaky Friends why most of the Scouts are starting to turn against them.

Where Harry told the Freaky Friends that the Butler and Maid Café was done due to a secret collusion between them and most of the Sparrow Scouts, where they promised that it will save the Sparrow Scouts, as it is quite popular it will help to raise funds quickly for the Sparrow Scouts and most of the Sparrow Scouts have a horrible opinion of the Freaky Friends. They also mentioned that since the Sparrow Scouts have to concentrate on one aspect of the café, it will be easier as each aspect will have a large team to handle one aspect.

Lastly, they apologised to the Freaky Friends, whom they assigned as Maids to humiliate them, especially when they made David wear a Maid outfit, which David wound up rocking the Maid outfit during the event.

Where Harry and his gang told the Freaky Friends that he and his gang may have doomed the Sparrow Scouts because of their fundraiser and their plan to humiliate the Freaky Friends. Where the efforts of everyone in the Sparrow Scouts are wasted as they still have to graduate from the Sparrow Scouts at 13 Years old during the upcoming Badge ceremony.

After listening to their confession, David, Frida, Hilda, and Louise were shocked to learn that most of the Sparrow Scouts do not view them favourably, that the fundraiser was selected using collusion, and that them being assigned as Maids and David wearing a Maid outfit during the fundraiser was part of a plan to humiliate them.

However, instead of being angry at them and reporting them to the Raven Leader for their misconduct. David, Frida, Hilda, and Louise decided to forgive them as all four of them know that the budget cut was not the fault of Harry and his gang. Where all four of them know that there is no turning back, as damage has been done.

After their talk everyone went back to their respective homes as they knew that they would be undergoing extra Sparrow Scouts training for the grand opening of the Hulderlands International Airport and the launch of Trolberg Airlines.

Which is a closer to their service as Sparrow Scouts, and also prepare themselves to possibly join a Cadet Corps in Trolberg. They know that they can talk to the Cadets when they are training with them for the grand opening of the Hulderlands International Airport and the first flights of Trolberg Airlines.

One week later, Monday Evening, Post Budget Press conference/ Meet the People’s session (City Hall).

The atmosphere at the City Hall is quite silent as reporters and journalists, together with the residents of Trolberg, are waiting for the Mayor of Trolberg, Gunter Leder. Who had won the Mayoral election and had taken office over a year ago.

As today is the day of the Mayor of Trolberg’s monthly Meet the People’s Session. However, the current Meet the People’s session is different as members of the media are present, as the budget announced a week ago caused a commotion in Trolberg as it announced a major budget cut to the Sparrow Scouts, one of Trolberg’s most cherished institutions.

However, despite the budget having more benefits for Trolberg in the long run. Cutting the budget to one of Trolberg’s most cherished institutions, the Sparrow Scouts. Angered most of the residents of Trolberg, all of whom demanded that the Mayor and City Hall provide an answer to the budget cut for the Sparrow Scouts.

The Mayor promised to provide his answer at the upcoming monthly Meet the People Session, which everyone agreed to wait for the Mayor’s answers to the major budget cut to the Sparrow Scouts.

After the Mayor and his team of advisors entered the room. He greeted everyone and introduced both himself and his team of advisors before everyone started to ask him and his team of advisors about the budget.

It got rowdy before the Mayor called for order by banging a gavel on the table. After everyone had settled down, he addressed the elephant in the room, which was the major budget cut to the Sparrow Scouts.

The Mayor started by assuring everyone that the decision for the major budget cut to the Sparrow Scouts is a decision not taken lightly as it is one of Trolberg’s most cherished institutions, as both him and members of his advisory panel are former Sparrow Scouts and he showed photos of both him and his advisory panel when they were in the Sparrow Scouts. Where most members of the audience found it relatable, with some of them being in the same batch as the Mayor, members of his advisory panel, or both.

The Mayor informed everyone that the decision for the major budget cut to the Sparrow Scouts was made as a last resort, despite the success of the recent Sparrow Scouts’ fundraiser. The Mayor informed everyone of the reasons that a major yearly fundraiser for the Sparrow Scouts to offset the budget cut would be unfair to everyone.

This led to some criticism from some members of the audience, which were promptly answered by the Mayor.

The Mayor informed everyone that money diverted from the budget cuts to the Sparrow Scouts and other needed cuts, mainly Trolberg’s Anti-Troll measures under the previous Mayors and the Anti-Troll focus of the Trolberg Safety Patrol under Erik Ahlberg, will be used to benefit Trolberg in the long run.

The budget cuts made in the budget, especially for the Sparrow Scouts, as mentioned earlier, was not a decision we took lightly. As most, if not all of us have grown up in Trolberg, our home and also having grown up participating in the Sparrow Scouts.

However, hard decisions have to be made to secure the future of Trolberg. As I made in my promise during the budget to lower unemployment, boost the local economy, improve the infrastructure in Trolberg, together with my colleagues in the surrounding areas in the Hulderlands, especially the village of Tofoten, where most of us have a connection with the Village, and make Trolberg safer for everyone.

We are cleaning up the mess left by the previous Mayors, the former head of the Safety Patrol, Erik Ahlberg and possibly his predecessors. Following the events of the Mountain King, we will be reorganising the various emergency services in Trolberg for them to better respond to crises and also reduce criminal activities both in Trolberg and the surrounding areas.

In terms of improving the local economy, the upgrading of the former Edmund Ahlberg Dirigible port and Airstrip. Which was put on hold when the previous Mayor and Erik Ahlberg were in office, has now been completed.

The new Hulderlands International Airport will be opened and begin operations in a month.

The Airport, together with the establishment of Trolberg Airlines, aims to increase the connection of the Hulderlands to the World and the World to the Hulderlands. Both are projected to provide jobs, increase tourism, attract investors, and companies to the Hulderlands, especially Trolberg and Tofoten.

The Airport will supplement the existing Trolberg Harbour, the railways, and the roads. Which has been the connection to the rest of the country and the world for generations. Which will be upgraded in the future as promised in the budget.

After the Mayor finished his speech, the Hall, which was earlier highly critical of the Mayor for the budget cut to the Sparrow Scouts, erupted in applause and cheering.

Meanwhile, at the homes of the Sparrow Scouts especially David, Frida, Hilda, and Louise switched off the television after the Mayor ended his speech, while sighing about the Mayor’s reasoning for the budget cut to the Sparrow Scouts.

However, they are also happy to hear that the cuts will be put to good use as they and their fellow Schoolmates at Edmund Ahlberg Secondary School, and fellow Sparrow Scouts, are affected by the current economic crisis through their respective families.

After they switched off the television, David, Frida, Hilda, and Louise got ready for bed before they put out their School Uniforms and prepared their items for School the next day.

As they all will need to prepare breakfast and go to School on their own, as their parents will be returning home late in the morning as they currently training for night flying for David, Frida, and Hilda, while for Louise, her dad and his team are training for night operations at the Airport.

One month later, Saturday Morning, Hulderlands International Airport.

The day everyone, especially those in Trolberg and Tofoten, has arrived, which is the grand opening of the Hulderlands International Airport, formerly known as the Edmund Ahlberg Dirigible Port and Airstrip.

Which was closed following the obsolescence of Passenger and Cargo Dirigibles, and upgrading was put on hold when the former Mayor took office and Erik Ahlberg took over the Trolberg Safety Patrol, as both the former Mayor and Erik Ahlberg diverted the airport's upgrading funds to the upgrading of Trolberg’s Anti-Troll measures and the Trolberg Safety Patrol’s Anti-Troll focus.

After the former Mayor was elected out and Erik Ahlberg retired from public service, the new Mayor, Gunter Leder, immediately cancelled the upgrading of Trolberg’s Anti-Troll measures and the new head of Trolberg Safety Patrol, Gerda Gustav, cancelled the Safety Patrol’s Anti-Troll focus.

The money from both the cancelled upgrading of Trolberg’s Anti-Troll measures and the Trolberg Safety Patrol’s Anti-Troll focus, together with government funding, are used to upgrade the former Dirigible Port and Airstrip into an International Airport.

The new Hulderlands International Airport consists of one Passenger Terminal with four Aerobridges, four remote bays, and one dedicated Cargo Terminal capable of handling Cold Logistics and moving live animals.

Currently, the Airport is capable of handling most modern aircraft such as the Airbus A320 and Boeing B777, thanks to its 2.5 Km long asphalt runway. However, there are plans to upgrade the Airport to handle larger planes such as the Queen of the Skies, the Boeing 747 and higher passenger and cargo volumes in the future.

Lastly, the official opening of the Airport is also the day when Trolberg Airlines makes its first official flights and the first official flights depart from the Airport by Trolberg Airlines.

Currently, Trolberg Airlines consists of an Airbus A320 Narrow-body Passenger Jet for International passenger flights and an ATR 72 Turboprop Aircraft for Domestic flights, where the interior layout of the ATR 72 is designed to handle both Passengers and Cargo in one flight to ensure the feasibility of the Domestic flights for the time being.

Passenger Terminal Building, Airport Train Station and Airport Bus Station.

Meanwhile at the Passenger Terminal, the Airport’s Train and Bus Stations, members of the Trolberg Police Cadet Corps, Safety Patrol Cadet Corps, and some Sparrow Scouts are assisting members of the Trolberg Police Force, and Trolberg Safety Patrol with Crowd Control both in the Passenger Terminal building and the Airport’s train and bus stations.

Where some Police officers and Safety Patrol officers are on traffic marshalling duties at the car park and coach drop-off points.

Freeing up members of the Airport Security to focus on their main duties in the Passenger Terminal, which are to ensure that only authorised personnel are allowed into the corresponding transit area and also do security screening of passengers and crew before they are allowed on the plane. 

The Cadets and Scouts in the Passenger Terminal Building, and the Airport’s train and bus station assist the Police and Safety Patrol in crowd control by marshalling the crowd to the correct areas in the public area, providing them with information about the event, and rendering assistance if needed.

Meanwhile, members of the Trolberg Fire Service Cadet Corps and Trolberg Civil Defence Cadets, together with some Scouts, are spread around the Airport area with members of the Trolberg Fire Service and Trolberg Civil Defence. As all of them will be called upon to respond to emergencies. Members of the Trolberg Fire Service Cadet Corps and Trolberg Civil Defence Cadets, together with some Scouts, will be assisting the Trolberg Fire Service and Trolberg Civil Defence with First Aid and Emergency Response.

For the Scouts and Cadets who were not involved in crowd control, first aid or emergency response. They are given the task of sending off the maiden flights of Trolberg Airlines by either waving the flag of Trolberg as the Pilots and Passengers get on the plane, holding a placard, or distributing a memento of the occasion to the Pilots and Passengers.

Hilda and David are the Two Sparrow Scouts who were given the honour of presenting the Pilot Captains with the flag of Trolberg before the Pilots and crew enter the transit area, as voted by their peers in the Sparrow Scouts.

While some members of the Trolberg Fire Service, Trolberg Civil Defence, Trolberg Police, and Trolberg Safety Patrol form a Guard of Honour together with a choir and live band from both Tofoten and Trolberg.

As the Mayors of Trolberg and Tofoten, together with the leaders of the surrounding villages in the Hulderlands, officially open the Airport and launch the first flights of Trolberg Airlines.

As it is a historical event, members of the media from Trolberg will be covering the event together with some elves from the nearby elf counties, where they are only seen by those who signed the paperwork.

As Alfur is the Trolberg correspondent, he is among the elves present to prepare the report to send back to their respective counties. Where he and the other elves were joined by the Elf King, their region’s respective Prime Minister and the Mayor of the different elf counties to witness the historical event. Since the Lost Clan were no longer exiled, they are allowed to and are present with the Northern Counties elves.

However, they considered Trolberg their home and, with an agreement from the Northern counties, are considered a self-governing part of the Northern Counties, and they serve as the guards to the Prime Minister and Mayor of the Northern Counties.

However, despite taking around 4 hours to reach the Airport by train from Tofoten, Johanna’s Aunt and Hilda’s Grand Aunt, Astrid, is in attendance to witness both Johanna and Anders, whom she had started to warm up to after the events of the fairy isle. Being the Pilots to fly the first flights of Trolberg Airlines and out of the Hulderlands International Airport, with both Johanna and Anders holding the rank of Captain on the plane.

However, Johanna and her First Officers Erika (David’s mum) and Freya (Frida’s mum) will be flying a domestic route, while Anders and his First Officers Evans ( David’s dad) and Fred (Frida’s dad) will be flying an international route.

Astrid is also joined by her pet, a walking Land Creature called Loam, and her neighbour, the Pooka. Astrid knows that it would cause less harm if he is not alone.

Lastly, Astrid is also looking after Twig, while Hilda is participating in the opening Ceremony with the Sparrow Scouts. As she was to be given the honour of presenting the flag of Trolberg to her mum, Captain Johanna, while David will be presenting the flag to Captain Anders, for the Captains to be photographed with their respective first officers.

As the photographer from the Trolberg Daily is busy taking photos, Faridah’s mum, Fatimah, who is a Journalist, looked to her photographer after he took the photos of David and Hilda presenting the flags to the captains. Where her daughter is in the photo among the Sparrow Scouts, with Frida leading the salute for the Sparrow Scouts with the Raven Leader to the Pilots.

She told her photographer that David, Frida, her daughter, and Hilda would become Pilots in the future and after she saw Louise, who is the Sparrow Scouts’ photographer. She said to her photographer that Louise would be a great Journalist in the future, to which her photographer agreed with her and replied that her daughter would be a Captain.

Fatimah acknowledged her photographer’s reply, that if Faridah becomes a Pilot, she would be a Captain and make history.

After the flag presentation ceremony had ended, the Pilots, Crew, and Passengers entered the transit area, firstly to clear customs for the Passengers, Pilots, and Crew for the International flight, before both Domestic and International Passengers, Pilots, and Crew goes through Airport Security.

After everyone has boarded their respective planes, the planes are shown on both on Television Screens around the Airport, seen by those in the viewing gallery, in the fields and Mountains around the Airport, and lastly on a live broadcast on Television.

As the planes taxied to the runway before they started to take off from the Airport, with everyone watching the planes closely until the planes had left the area.

The opening of Hulderlands International Airport, the first flights of Trolberg Airlines and from Hulderlands International Airport, marks a new beginning for the Hulderlands.

The event is made even more special for David, Frida, and Hilda as their parents made history for Trolberg and the Hulderlands by flying the first flights out of the new Hulderlands International Airport, the first flights of Trolberg Airlines, and also the start of their new careers as Pilots for Trolberg Airlines.

Two Weeks Later.
On the Road from Hulderlands International Airport.- Close to sunset.

Meanwhile, on the road, a grey Sedan containing three women, all wearing the uniform of Trolberg Airlines, is speeding down the road back to Trolberg, where the owner of the car is currently riding shotgun with her friend and co-worker sitting in the back seat with her seatbelt fastened. While the driver, who is her friend, Co-Worker, and Plane Captain, is behind the wheel.

Upon realising that they were going to be late for an event at the Sparrow Scouts Hall, Erika decided to let Johanna drive all three of them there. As her son told her about Johanna’s driving skills from Hilda, she trusted that Johanna could get them to the Sparrow Scouts’ Hall safely, quickly, and on time.

However, she did not expect Johanna to drive like they are in an action movie after they reached the Highway from the Airport heading to Trolberg.

Erika:  

Johanna slow down, I am pretty sure we are going above the Speed limit and this is not a Sports car.

Johanna:

Look Erika, since our flight was delayed due to Woffs flying and the weather spirits acting up along our planned flight path. We have to be rerouted to ensure everyone’s safety. Hence, we had to deal with a longer flight time and on top of that, we had to wait for the ground handling crew to change their shift when we landed, together with filling up the paperwork for our flight.

That is why we need to hurry to the Scout Hall, as we know parking is limited, and the event is going to start soon and that going through the City Gate after sunset will take longer.

Erika:

I see Johanna, do you know any shortcuts?

(Johanna quickly changed lanes to avoid a Vittra on the road. Causing everyone except Johanna to lean to the left before everyone got back to sitting up straight.)

Johanna:

To answer that question Erika, we would be able to use an off-road shortcut. If Freya had the keys to hers and Fred’s car, instead of Fred having the keys. Then we would be able to go off-road and take a shortcut.

Freya:

Really Johanna, I mean the car you and your husband currently own is designed to go on dirt and gravel roads, which happens to be the shortcut to Trolberg that you mentioned.

Johanna:

It is in the shop Freya. There are some issues with the car to be worked out. It is a cheap second-hand car after all.

Freya:

One of these days Johanna, you and your husband ought to get a new car, the repairs may cost more than the car itself. Preferably something that can handle what you and your family get up to.

Johanna:
Says the woman who drives an SUV in Trolberg, despite hardly leaving the walls of Trolberg until now and whose daughter is a witch.

(Freya was left speechless after that, despite both her and her husband knowing about Frida being a witch.)

Johanna:
Anyway Freya, Anders and I plan to get a new car once we stabilise in our new career and get enough money to get a better car, preferably something like or better than my previous car.

Freya: Agreed, Johanna.

After a while, all of them managed to reach the City Gate before sunset, and they joined the queue to be let into Trolberg through the City Gate.

After being let through, all three of the quickly drove into the Sparrow Scout Hall compound, where they manged to find a parking spot, after parking the car all of them entered the Hall which is decorated for a Sparrow Scout event, which is a combined badge and graduation ceremony for the current batch of Sparrow Scouts.

When they entered the hall, they found out that they are early and that some parents are wearing their Airport uniforms, albeit with any identification features either removed or hidden.

After finding an empty seat, all of them had a seat, with all three of them being seated together. After a while, more guests started to arrive and take their seats, with the Sparrow Scouts taking the front row seats and the guests taking the back row seats.

Sparrow Scout Hall, Evening

After a while, the hall lights dimmed, the stage lights switched on, and the Raven Leader went on stage before she stood behind the podium to announce the start of the combined badge and graduation ceremony for the current batch of Sparrow Scouts.

Where everyone in the room is rather indifferent about the event, despite it being a milestone for the Sparrow Scouts. As they all see their hard work they had put in the past year come to fruition by receiving the badges they worked hard for, and the graduation marked a new beginning for the Sparrow Scouts. However, the graduation is because of a decision made by City Hall to cut the budget of the Sparrow Scouts, despite the Sparrow Scouts proving that the fundraiser can sustain the activities of the Sparrow Scouts.

As in the past, the Sparrow Scouts' graduation ceremony marks the transition of a Sparrow Scout to the next level of being a Scout and celebrates the past achievements of a Sparrow Scout. However, this ceremony, despite celebrating the past achievements of every Sparrow Scout present, marks the end of their time as a Scout.

Once they receive their badges and complete the ceremony, they will each join one of the four Cadet Corps in Trolberg, based on the results they received on Monday and will start a new chapter as Cadets on the upcoming Friday.

Where they were informed by the Cadets whom they trained with for over a month, and an exhibition by the four Cadet Corps are that being a Cadet is similar to being a Sparrow Scout, the only differences are that some of the badges and skills they will learn as a Cadet varies by the Cadet Corps.

The Raven Leader opened the ceremony with a short speech, which is a modified version of the Speech used in the previous Sparrow Scouts Graduation ceremonies. When the Sparrow Scouts transition to Raven Scouts, the best Raven Scouts are selected to train to become future Raven Leaders.

The speech being given by the Raven Leader talked about the uncertain future of the Sparrow Scouts Program with the budget cuts, but she decided to paint it with optimism, as she wants everyone to believe things will turn out well in the end. As she mentioned that for the time being, the future Raven Leaders will be selected from the best Cadets in the four Cadets Corps who were formerly Sparrow Scouts. This managed to assure everyone that there is hope for the Sparrow Scouts Program despite the budget cut.

Lastly, the Raven Leader ended her speech by wishing everyone the best in their future endeavours while indirectly referencing the four Cadet Corps that her soon-to-be former Sparrow Scouts will be spread among the four Cadet Corps in Trolberg.

After ending her speech, she got a round of applause from everyone, after the applause ended. She started the second part of the Ceremony, which is the badge presentation and graduation ceremony.

The Raven Leader will be awarding the final badges for the Sparrow Scouts in the hall.

A new badge will be presented to the Scouts together with the other badges they have earned throughout the Scouting year.

The new badge is called the Aviation badge, consisting of a cloth round badge similar to the Sparrow Scouts badges, with a plane symbol placed on top of a bell. The badge is a one-time badge given to the Sparrow Scouts for their role in the grand opening of Hulderlands International Airport, the first flights of both Trolberg Airlines and from Hulderlands International Airport.

This is done as a way to make up for the Sparrow Scouts for the budget cut.

Secretly, the badge is part of an agreement between the Sparrow Scouts, Trolberg Airlines, and Hulderlands International Airport. As both Trolberg Airlines and Hulderlands International Airport agreed to sponsor the Sparrow Scouts in the future, for the Sparrow Scouts to return to their pre-budget cut arrangement.

This was formalised two days before the grand opening of the Hulderlands International Airport and the first flights of both Trolberg Airlines and from the Hulderlands International Airport.

Lastly, only the Mayor, his advisors, top members of the City Hall, the top management of Trolberg Airlines, the top management of the Hulderlands International Airport, and anyone who is a Raven Leader and above knows about the agreement.

After the Raven Leader announced the start of the badge presentation and graduation ceremony. The Sparrow Scouts at the front rows waited to be called onstage by the Raven Leader, as once they get on stage, they will receive both their badges and a graduation certificate signifying the end of their service as Sparrow Scouts.

After the last Sparrow Scout had received their respective badges and the graduation certificate, the Raven Leader made some closing remarks before she ended the ceremony.

On the drive back home.

After David, Frida, and Hilda got in the car with their respective mothers. They all drove out of the Sparrow Scout Hall compound to get something to eat, as they all needed to get dinner and also celebrate David’s, Frida’s, and Hilda's graduation from the Sparrow Scouts.

However, they and their mums decided they would just get dinner and wait for the dads to return from their flight on Saturday morning, for them to have a dinner to celebrate their graduation from the Sparrow Scouts, despite them being unable to advance to Raven Scouts.

 David, Frida, and Hilda know that being a Cadet is mostly similar to being a Sparrow Scout. However, all of them know that they and their fellow Sparrow Scout batchmates will be spread amongst the four Cadet Corps. Despite going to the same Secondary school, all of them wondered whether the bonds forged during their time as Sparrow Scouts would be there once they became Cadets. 

However, they decided not to worry too much about it as everyone in the car knows that their experiences and friendships formed in the Sparrow Scouts will remain strong despite being in different Cadet Corps.

Lastly, despite Louise just recently joining their friend group, they all know that their friendship with her is just as strong as if she had joined their friend group earlier.

Everyone knows that the future is uncertain, but they all know that life is an adventure and facing uncertainties is what makes life meaningful.

The Freaky Friends, as they are now known and have adopted the title. All know they will face a new chapter of their lives together despite being in different Cadet Corps.
