Help for Lucia

Summary:

Reyna takes Clove up on their offer on taking their life energy for Lucia.

Work Text:

Reyna loved her sister more than anything else. She did everything for her and more. So, when Lucia got ill Reyna tried every possible method to save her. Souls were the thing Lucia needed the most to feed her radiant heart, but those were rare. Whenever Reyna was on a mission, she tried to collect as many souls as possible, so she could give them to Viper, who would transfer them to her sister. If there were no missions in a few days, Reyna often had just to hope that her sister would make it alive. She needed so many souls, that Reyna often struggled with herself when she harvested too many souls.

When Clove joined the protocol, they returned hope to Reyna. They once told her on the battlefield, that Reyna could take as much life energy from them as needed. Because of their radiance, they always could come back to life without needing Sage. It was a bit like Phoenix, but if he rose from the dead again, like a phoenix, he was never really dead from the begin with. Clove was a spark of hope for Reyna. When Reyna went to Clove the first time to ask for some of her life essence, the younger one had just left the shower.

“Oh, Reyna. How can I help you?” They only had a towel loosely wrapped around their body, when Reyna knocked, leaned herself against the doorframe and Clove opened the door.

“Ah, sorry, is that a bad time to ask you for life essence?” Reyna asked with a small chuckle, before she got serious. “Lucia is struggling and I hadn’t have a chance to collect souls for three days.” She lifted herself from the doorframe and wanted to walk away but Clove catched her wrist with one hand and so stopped her leaving. “No, no, you’re fine.” They smiled and tucked Reyna into their room.

“You can take a seat somewhere, sorry about the mess.” Clove gestured around the room. “I am just going to get myself some clothes and then we can discuss your matter.”

“Thank you.” Reyna seated herself on the edge of the bed, while Clove went to the wardrobe to get them some clothes and then disappeared in the bathroom to put them on.

Reyna looked around the room, where a few butterflies were flying around. They sat on the desk and the bed and one even landed directly on Reyna’s hand. She inspected it carefully, but didn’t dare to touch it, because she wouldn’t want to hurt the fragile creature. Oh it would have been so easy to just crush it in her hand and take its life energy. But she didn’t dare to do anything. She didn’t dare to hurt the creature, that so willingly went to her.

Clove didn’t take long and when they stepped out of the bathroom and saw Reyna carefully looking at their little butterflies, a smile crept on their face. They situated themself on the bed next to Reyna and let out a low chuckle. “They’re adorable, no?” Reyna only nodded lightly, so that she wouldn’t scare the little one on her hand away.

They sat there for a few more minutes in silence until the butterfly flew away. Reyna straightened herself and turned to Clove. “Sorry, I’m just stealing your time.”

“No worries, no worries. It’s okay. I didn’t want to do anything important, only wanted to watch a movie later.” Clove lightly patted Reyna on her shoulder. “So it’s nice if you keep me company.”

“…Okay.” Reyna cleared her throat. “I would like to discuss my sisters wellbeing with you. I haven’t been send out on missions recently, so she is running low on life energy. I don’t know how you can help me, but I remembered you saying that I could have some energy from you, because you don’t need to get resurrected by Sage.“

Clove nodded her head slowly. “Yeah, I remember that too. How do you wanna do this? Like, yeah I can resurrect myself, but I‘d prefer if I wouldn’t have to do it that often. It steals a great amount of energy from me and I would need to hurt someone myself to survive.“

Reyna thought for a bit, but only one other idea got in her mind. Though she didn’t know if Clove would agree. Blood sucking. That was her other idea. It was food for her and it would be energy for Lucia. After a bit of thinking some more, she looked back at Clove.

“There would be another way. But I don’t know if you would agree to that.“

Clove half heartedly sighed and elbowed Reyna.

“Come on, it can’t be that bad. Just spill the tea.“

“I could take your blood and transfer it to Lucia. It is also a type of life energy and it would help her.”

Clove nodded. “Okay.“

Reyna’s eyes widened slightly in surprise. “Are you sure?”

They nodded again. “I’m sure. Lucia deserves it, she is such a brave girl. I really like your sis.”

The vampire let out a low murmur. “Thank you.”

“No problem. You wanna start now, cause you said Lucia needs it right now.”

“Ah, yes that would be great.”

Reyna moved a bit closer to Clove and put a hand on her cheek. Clove unconsciously leaned into the touch and gave Reyna access to their neck. The vampire latched herself onto the younger ones neck and let her canines sink into the soft skin.

Clove let out a shaky exhale, the hand that lay on their lap went up and grasped Reyna’s shoulder, while Reyna sucked her blood. The latter came to a halt and carefully detached her mouth from Clove’s neck.

“God, I feel so…drained.” Clove muttered. “Is that normal?” They slumped against the vampire and tried to keep their eyes open.

“Yes, cariño, it’s normal, but don’t worry you’ll feel better tomorrow. Thank you for your help.“

Clove nodded slightly. “Any time again.” They said and then added: “Do you wanna stay for the movie?”

Reyna hesitated for a moment, but then she nodded. “Okay. What are we watching?”

Clove stood up on wobbly legs and went to their desk, where they grabbed their laptop and put it on the night table next to the bed. When they walked back to Reyna, Clove stumbled over their feet and nearly tripped, if Reyna hadn’t caught her in time.

“Easy, easy, be careful little one.” Clove could feel Reyna’s strong hands wrapped around their body, the woman’s body pressing up against their own, as she whispered in Clove’s ear.

Without much intention Clove nuzzled into Reyna and let out a small sigh. Reyna smiled.

“Come now, corazón.” Reyna pulled Clove back to the bed and settled them both comfortably on the bed.

“Rest.”

And Clove closed their eyes and completely relaxed against Reyna.

For a while they just sat there, but when Reyna was sure that Clove was asleep, she carefully laid them down and put the blanket over them.

“Rest well.” She murmured and silently went out of the room.

After carefully closing the door, Reyna decided she needed some tea, before she went to visit Lucia in Vipers Lab. When she entered the kitchen, she immediately noticed that there was somebody else in the room, but with thinking it would be Omen, who was knitting or reading a book on the couch, she ignored the feeling and went to the counter to make a cup of tea. While brewing the water she took out her favorite tea.

“Now look who finally came out of the room of our new recruit.” A teasing voice suddenly said behind her. Reyna whipped her head around and found herself eye to eye with Fade, who had a smug grin on her face and a coffee mug in her hand. She huffed. “Keep your nose out of my business. It does not concern you.” Fade laughed. “Don’t worry. I’ll keep it to myself.” Reyna growled in annoyance, when Fade went to stand next to her and made herself another coffee. “How do you even know I was there?” Fade smirked. “Saw you enter a couple of hours before.” While the coffee machine was working, she leaned against the counter.

“So how was it?”

Reyna scoffed. “We didn’t do anything.”

Fade held back her eye roll. “Yeah, you were there for nearly two hours. That’s pretty long for doin’ nothing.”

Reyna took the kettle in one hand and her cup with the tea bag in the other and turned to Fade.

“Look if you won’t step out of my way, I won’t hesitate to spill the water over you. Before you’ll make it to Sage your body will be burned by hot water.”

Fade furrowed her brows and stepped aside. She watched Reyna leave the kitchen, shook her head and decided to visit an agent herself.

Reyna carefully set the cup of tea on the nightstand next to Lucias bed. Viper wasn’t pleased when she showed up so late, but she let her in. She fumbled at the machine Viper made for Lucia, but Viper quickly rushed to her and swatted her hand away.

“You’re gonna break the machine one day, if you’ll keep being so careless with it.” she huffed.

Reyna rolled her eyes, but she let her handle the machine and just gave Viper her left arm, so the transfer could begin. She situated herself on the chair next to her sister’s bed and watched Viper starting the transferring process and then leave the room to give the two sisters some privacy. Reyna felt her head throbbing and she knew that the process had started, because it always made her sleepy. She closed her eyes, leaned against the chair and began a small slumber.

Viper sighed. When she started the transferring process of life energy first, she told Reyna it was best if she stayed awake during the process, but she disregarded her worries with a wink of her hand and started to sleep. It wasn’t optimal, but she didn’t want to wake her and deal with the angry empress. So she just closed the door quietly and went back to the main part of her lab. There, however, was another person waiting for her.

“What are you doing here?”

A chuckle.

“When I didn’t find you in your room I knew you’d still be in here.”

Fade stood near the door, but when she saw Viper, she neared her.

“This is not a great time.” Viper hissed and looked towards Lucia’s room, but Fade just ignored it. When she finally stood in front of Viper, she caressed the chemists cheek with her palm.

“Don’t say you still need to work, you know that excuse doesn’t work with me anymore.” Fade smiled slightly.

While unconsciously leaning into the comforting touch, she still shook her head. “Reyna’s with Lucia. She can’t see you.”

Fade chuckled and raised her eyebrows. “Don’t worry. I’m sure she wouldn’t dare to say a thing, tatlım.”

Viper straightened herself up again and shot Fade a sceptic look.

“…What happened?”

“Ah nothing, I just ,hm, saw something interesting and mentioned that to her.”

Viper chuckled.

“Well then, I suppose it wouldn’t hurt.”

With that, she grabbed Fade’s face and kissed her slowly, while pushing her against her desk.

When Reyna awoke, the first thing she noticed was that her neck ached. Her sleeping position was more than just uncomfortable, it was torture. But she knew she did this to herself.

Reyna looked around, her eyes searched for any sign of Viper, who was usually in the room when the treatment was done. Reyna sighed, reached for the machine and pulled her arm out of it herself. She stayed in her seat for a bit longer and drank the tea she brought.

Finally, she gained enough strength to push herself up, so she stood, gave her sister one last kiss on the forehead and went out of the room. When Reyna walked in Vipers main part of the lab, her eyes came in contact with a scene she never wanted to see.

“What the fuck is wrong with you?” Was the first thing that left her mouth. Viper detached herself from Fade, who wore a rather smug grin, and turned to Reyna.
Vipers normal cold look somehow infuriated her in this moment, because there was no way they didn´t do it on purpose.

“And that`s my clue to leave.“ Fade said chuckling, before turning on her heels, straightening her messy hair and leaving the lab. Viper sighed and went to Reyna, reaching out for her. “Why did you leave the room without me.“

Reyna arched her eybrows. “I waited like 10 minutes for you to come and you still didn`t show.“ “That doesn’t give you permission to just go.“ Reyna shrugged and slapped Viper`s hand away. “So, can I go now?“ “Not until you let me do my checkup.“

After the check up was done, Reyna left Viper`s lab with her head full of thoughts. Were Viper and Fade dating? And why the fuck do they think that Clove and her were sleeping with one another? She had to admit, the Controller was cute. But that didn’t mean anything. Clove had only helped her. Reyna walked down the empty corridors of the HQ, when another thought bloomed in her head. Was Clove okay? What if the process affected her badly or drained her too much? Reyna`s steps fastened

…Maybe she should check in on them. Just in case. The duelist shook her head. She had to be overreacting, for sure. But nonetheless she found herself in front of Clove`s door and raised her knuckles to knock. Only a few seconds later the door opened and Clove looked out, seemingly tired, but otherwise fine, how Reyna could see.

“Reyna? What`s up? Are ya fine?“ they asked.

The older woman pushed her hand through her hair. “I`m fine, just wanted to check up on you. Are you alright, cariño?“

Clove nodded. “Everything`s good with me, I`m just a bit sleepy. How`s Lucia doing? Did it help?“

Reyna sighed. “I hope so. I have to wait for Viper to check on her to know exactly how she is, but energy always helps, doesn`t it?“

“It sure does.“ Clove yawned. “And I think I`m going to get myself some more energy, by going back to sleep. Thanks for checking up on me.“

“Of course. Have a nice sleep, Clove.“ Reyna waved at them and walked away from their room.
