It’s been a rough week for Henry, rough month. For some reason, despite their agreement in the chaos of the leak, the Queen has found that she still wants to interrupt in his new peaceful life with Alex.
Hence being stuck in London for a week, and then being summoned two days later for another week that turned into two weeks.
By the time he gets home (after his mum had to tell the Queen that she would follow through with her original threats earning him at least a month without any ‘summoning’), he’s exhausted and all he wants is to burrow himself into Alex’s comforting embrace, but he knows Alex has class, so he’ll have to wait.
Still, he’s happy to be home.
He enters and greets David, whom he also missed, and puts his luggage off to the side before making his way up to their bedroom for a nap and the comfort of at least Alex’s smell.
He’s surprised that the door’s closed as they don’t normally have closed doors, but he doesn’t hesitate to push it open.
Inside, their room looks quite different to what he remembers. There are incense and candles on the outskirts of the room. The bed is all fluffed up and done so that he can slide between the sheets and get all nice and cozy. On the night table is a warmer with what smells like tea and Jaffa cakes next to it. There’s soft, calming music playing on the radio that sits on the nightstand. There are rose petals leading Henry from the bed to the master bath where the water is running and Alex is clearly finishing his set up.
“Love?”
Alex spins around. “Just in time, baby,” he says with a smile. “Your nice, warm bubble bath is just about ready.”
Henry blinks. “What is all this?”
“Well, I know I have to go to class, but I wanted to make sure that you were treated right when you came home. So, I have a bubble bath, the next book on your reading list, your favorite calming music, and your favorite tea and treat to help you feel better.”
Henry feels like he could cry. There’s so much love and care in the welcome home that he’s never experienced before.
“Oh, baby, don’t cry. I wanted to make you happy,” Alex says, worriedly as he moves forward to hug him.
“Oh no, these aren’t sad tears, love. They’re happy tears,” Henry says as Alex moves back to wipe his tears away. “I can’t believe you did all this for me.”
Alex chuckles, peppering kisses all over his face.
“Of course I did, baby. I want to take care of you – forever. And I know that it’s been a rough month and I wanted to make it better.”
Henry puts his hands on either side of Alex’s face to give him a kiss soundly on the lips. “Thank you, love. This is amazing.”
Alex grins. “I’m glad you like it.” He gives Henry another brief kiss as an alarm goes off that causes him to turn away. “Unfortunately, I do have class, but I want you to enjoy and take a load off and know that I’ll be home before you know it and we can spend the weekend celebrating that we’re together again.”
“I like the sound of that.”
“Good,” Alex gives him another kiss. “Then, I’ll see you later. I love you.”
“I love you, too.”
