“Kal!” Moni calls as Kal finishes pulling his batch of chocolate chip cookies from the oven. “We need to talk.”
“Want a cookie?” Kal offers, holding the scorching tray out for his brother to take one.
He swipes a few, passing them between his hands as the gooey sweets cool slightly, then motions for Kal to take a seat. “Kal. I heard you drugged Lucanis.”
“Yeah?” He’s not seeing where this is going. “He needed rest.”
Moni sighs at him. Did Kal do something wrong? “Kal. My dear, idiotic big brother. You can’t drug people without consent.”
Kal blinks at him. “Why? Dad does it all the time.”
“You know as well as I do that Viago poisons people with intent to kill. You don’t go up to people asking to kill them, do you?” Moni tries to explain as he takes a bite of his cookie.
“You might not, but it’s fun to do it sometimes when you’re bored on a contract,” Moni mutters something under his breath before shoving a full cookie in his mouth. His brother nearly chokes on his cookie, so Kal gets up to make him some hot cocoa.
It’s a matter of moments before Kal passes off the warm drink to him, and Moni regains the ability to breathe properly. “Kal. I need you to actually listen to me. Just because Viago poisons people and Allona specifically made you a sleeping drug does not mean it’s right to drug someone you love without asking.”
The door to the pantry swings open. “Luca! Would you like a cookie?”
He smiles that soft smile at him. “Sure.” Luca’s eyes flick over him and Moni. “Rook. What brings you? Was it Knight’s baking?”
“Did you just wake up?” Moni inquires.
“Yes. That drug Knight gave me works wonders. Best sleep I’ve had in years.” Kal grins dumbly at him.
“O-Oh…” Moni looks dumbfounded.
“See, Luca asked,” Kal states. “So, is that wrong, too?”
“Wait, have you been asking my brother to drug you this whole time?”
“Well, not at first,” Luca admitted. “But, as soon as I figured it out, I started telling him to. Like I said, it’s the best sleep I’ve had in years.”
Moni frowns for a moment before shaking his head. “You’re surprisingly calm about this.”
Luca smiles at them. “I’m well aware you’re all Viago’s. A little drugging was to be expected. This, at least, was a pleasant surprise all things considered.”
Moni sighs. “Well…at least, in this case, it turned out alright.” His brother looks at him. “Just…next time when you want to do this to someone else, please promise you’ll tell them first. Not everyone’s going to be as cool with this as Lucanis apparently is.” Kal’s little brother still looks bothered by the whole thing but concedes to let this go for now.
“’Kay.” He agrees easily, watching Luca munch on a cookie as he prepares some coffee. Moni swipes an entire tray on his way out. Good. Kal made that tray for him anyway.
