Work Text:

The air thrummed with a nervous energy, a tangible buzz that vibrated through the floorboards. Outside the main hall, a crowd of fans buzzed, their presence felt even behind closed doors. Inside, controlled chaos was kept at bay. Staff darted between equipment, their hurried footsteps a frantic rhythm against the low hum of the stage lights, last-minute checks were made, and Pond Naravit, the man of the hour, was trying, and failing miserably, to ignore the constant teasing.

"Heard Phuwin's stuck in traffic," his younger brother, Tawin, said with a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Big shoot today, apparently."

Pond just rolled his eyes, adjusting the microphone clipped to his crisp white shirt. "He'll be here."

His grandmother, a tiny but remarkably sharp-tongued woman, piped up, "Oh, Pond, dear, don't count on it. These children get busy nowadays. Schedules, you know?"

Pond chuckled, unfazed. His mother, ever the positive thinker, put a hand on his arm. "Pay no attention to them, son. Think about your fans. They're the ones who matter today."

But Pond wasn't worried. He knew Phuwin. He knew the subtle twitch of his lips when he was trying to hide something, the way his eyes gave him away,

Every. Single. Time.

And he had seen that tell-tale sign this morning when Phuwin had wished him a curt "Happy Birthday" over a rushed phone call, claiming a packed schedule that would keep him away all day.

Fat chance.

Even Joong and Dunk, his other two good friends, got into the act as they arrived. "Sorry to inform you, buddy," Joong told him, clapping him on the shoulder, "Phuwin seems genuinely swamped. We were supposed to carpool, but he bailed. Said he had an important meeting."

"Yeah," Dunk added with an insincere look of sympathy, "Sounds like you're flying solo today."

Pond just grinned. "You guys are terrible liars."

He was sure Phuwin wouldn't miss this for anything in the world. This birthday celebration, so lovingly planned by his loyal fans, was a milestone.

A testament to the ride they'd all taken, together. And Phuwin, his on-screen partner, his best friend, his….well, that could wait for another day, wouldn't abandon him on such an important occasion.

The doors to the hallway opened, and the roar of the crowd washed over him. Now was the time. He plastered his most charming smile and walked onto the stage, where the spotlight hit him the moment he stepped out. For the next hour, he was lost in the sea of faces, answering questions, smiling for pictures, and wallowing in the overwhelming love from his fans

Then came the segment for his friends' speeches. Joong, ever the smooth talker, stepped up first, his voice booming through the speakers. He spoke of their shared memories, their late-night study sessions, and the unwavering support they had always provided each other. Dunk followed, adding his own brand of quirky humour, recounting embarrassing stories that made Pond blush and the audience erupt in laughter.

As Dunk concluded his speech, Pond felt a familiar warmth spread through him. He had wonderful friends, a wonderful and supportive family, and the most incredible fans a person could ask for.

But there was still something lacking, a certain presence that would make the moment complete.

Suddenly, the lights dimmed, plunging the stage into darkness. A single spotlight pierced the blackness, illuminating a figure walking purposefully towards him.

A collective gasp rippled through the hall as the spotlight revealed Phuwin, a silhouette against the darkness.

Dressed in a simple black shirt and jeans, his hair slightly tousled, he looked every bit the rockstar. He held the microphone that was passed to him close, his eyes locking with Pond's. A soft smile played on his lips. On his other hand, he carried a beautifully decorated cake, candles flickering brightly, and Pond leaned over immediately to help him hold it.

"Happy birthday, Pond," he said, his voice laced with affection. "I know you probably knew I was coming all along. You always see right through me. But I wanted to try and surprise you anyway."

The crowd went wild again. Phuwin chuckled, shaking his head playfully.

"Pond," he continued, his voice becoming more earnest, his eyes holding Pond's gaze, a slight tremor in his voice, "You're one of the most genuine, kind, and hardworking people that I know. You deserve all the happiness in the world. Thank you for being you, and thank you for being my partner and let's keep on walking on this road together."

Pond's heart swelled. He couldn't help but grin, his eyes shining with unshed tears. He stepped forward, quickly blowing out the candles and remained holding the cake with Phuwin.

"Joong, Dunk," he said, turning to his other two friends, "Thank you for being here. Thank you for always having my back." He quickly squeezed their shoulders with his free hand and turned right back to fully face Phuwin.

As he turned back to Phuwin, his gaze was unwavering.

"And Phuwin," he added, his voice thick with emotion, "Thank you. I know how busy you are, but you never fail to make time somehow when it comes to me and for that.....let me just say once, I love you." A rush of warmth flooded his cheeks, a wide, genuine smile spread across his face, a mix of nervousness and euphoria. "And I knew you were coming today, regardless of how many times I got told you wouldn't, because I know when you attempt to lie. I can always tell. Let's keep on supporting each other for a long time and I hope anyone who loves me loves you just as much."

Phuwin could tell that there was way more Pond wanted to say but in that moment, holding eye contact with Pond, no words were needed. They both agreed to continue taking privately after.

A wave of cheers crashed over the stage once more after Pond's speech, their cheers reaching a fever pitch. Without another word, Pond pulled Phuwin into a tight hug, Joong and Dunk joining in moments later. The four of them embraced there, a tangled mess of limbs and laughter, a testament to the power of friendship and the unbreakable support they had for each other.

After that, the rest of the event was a blur of excitement and joy. Joong, Dunk, and Phuwin took their seats beside Pond's family, enduring the endless stream of teasing from his relatives with good humour.

As Phuwin sat, Pond's dog, Parker, walked over and immediately lay down at Phuwin's feet, refusing to move and only wanting to be petted by him, eliciting laughter from the crowd. Meanwhile, Pond navigated the crowd, patiently answering questions and posing for pictures.

The fans, now encouraged by Phuwin's arrival, were relentless in their teasing. "Pond, what's Phuwin's favourite food?" one fan yelled. "Pond, who's the better kisser, you or Phuwin?" another shouted, causing a wave of laughter to ripple through the crowd.

At one point, the camera zoomed in on Phuwin, capturing his playful, exasperated expression as Joong and Dunk pointed at him and laughed along with the fans. He flung his head back and pretended to groan, earning another round of cheers.

With the light-hearted chaos, Pond felt immensely grateful. He had everything he could ever dream of: a beautiful family, great friends, and the most loyal fans in the world.

And as he looked over at Phuwin, surrounded by his family members, laughing at something his grandmother had just said, he knew that he had found something truly special. Something greater than on-screen chemistry leaked into real life. Something that he cherished more than words could express.

Then came "Family Photo Time." Everyone was called to the stage. When Parker was brought up, he refused to stay still unless Phuwin touched him. This resulted in Pond and Phuwin standing side by side, holding Parker between them, so the picture could be taken.

As the event drew to a close, Pond stood on stage one last time, his heart overflowing with emotion. He looked out at the sea of his lovely fans, their smiles reflecting the joy he felt inside.

"Thank you," he said, his voice filled with sincerity. "Thank you for making this the best birthday ever. Thank you for your love, your support, and your unwavering belief in me. I promise to continue working hard and making you proud. To my family, thank you for your constant love and support. To my friends, Joong and Dunk, thank you for always being by my side."

He paused, his eyes drawn to Phuwin, who was watching him with a soft smile. "And most importantly," he added, his voice softer now, "to my partner, Phuwin, thank you for being the best partner, the best friend, and the best everything I could ever ask for."

The crowd erupted one final time, their cheers echoing through the hall. As the lights dimmed, the opening chords of their latest OST filled the hall, a familiar melody that had become their anthem. The fans, a chorus of voices, sang along, their words echoing the emotions that resonated between Pond and Phuwin. Even Pond's family, initially surprised, swayed to the music, their faces alight with pride.

As the curtains closed, Pond knew that this was a moment he would never forget. A celebration of love, friendship, and the unwavering bond between him and his fans, and especially, him and Phuwin. And he knew, with certainty, that the best was yet to come.
