The Granger-Weasley Chronicles

Summary:

Balancing marriage, kids and bizarre parenting dilemmas. This series follows Ron and Hermione as they take on the ridiculousness of raising children while trying to remain relatively sane.

Notes:

Thanks to trope fest for giving me an opportunity to start this silly series.
I love this family and cannot wait to write little snippets of their life. I'll put the years in brackets as the series won't be chronological.

I hope you enjoy <3

The house was a mess. Hugo was crying, and Ron was trying to calm him. Hermione was running around their living room, trying to tidy as much of the mess as possible.

“Ron, have you seen the present?” she yelled, barely loud enough for Ron to hear over the wailing of their three-year-old toddler.

“What?”

“The present for my cousin?”

“What?”

“Ugh, for Christ's sake,” she huffed and started towards their kitchen, “I asked if you have seen the present for my cousin.”

“It's on the counter,” he pointed at the kitchen counter behind her. Hermione turned around and spotted the large (and ugly) vase her cousin Patricia had put on her registry.

She lifted it from the counter and turned it around.

“This might be the ugliest thing I've ever seen.”

“What about that one baby they put next to Hugo when he was born?” Ron asked behind her.

She turned around, “Don't say that about someone else's child, Ron.”

Ron put both his hands up and mumbled something under his breath to Hugo. The toddler laughed.

“What did you tell him?” Hermione furrowed her eyebrows.

“Nothing.”

“Nothing?”

“Correct.”

“Well, at least he isn't crying anymore.” Hermione turned around and placed the vase on top of the counter.

“Have you seen Rose?”

“She was getting dressed the last time I saw her.”

“Dressed? But she was alrea– oh no.”

“What?” Ron asked, but his wife was already out of the room and running up the stairs.

On the first floor, Hermione was immediately met with their daughter wearing her beige bridesmaid dress.

“Rose, sweetheart, didn't we talk about not wearing the dress on our way to the church?”

“But I'm a bridesmaid,” the five-year-old said matter-of-factly, sounding a little too much like her mother.

“Yes, but you don't want to get it all dirty before we get there. It's a long drive there.”

Rose huffed. “But it's my big day.”

Hermione chuckled, “Rose, sweety, it's Patricia's big day.”

“I wish you would stop saying that,” the girl crossed her arms in front of her chest, “besides you are wearing what you are wearing later. How come you don't have to change?”

“Well, I'm not the one who spills everything, right?”

“I don't spill everything,” Rose mumbled, “I only do it sometimes, and today is not sometimes.”

“Rose, please.”

“No.”

“Please.”

“Mh mh,” she shook her head.

Hermione looked at her watch and sighed, “Fine. But if you spill anything, I will let you walk around with that stain.”

Rose walked past her towards the stairs. “I already said, today isn't sometimes.”

Mother and daughter walk down the stairs where Ron and Hugo are already waiting and ready to go.

“Hey Rosie bear, weren't you suppos–” Ron stopped his sentence as he spotted Hermione mouthing ‘don't’ to him while shaking her head.

“You look beautiful, sweetie.’

“Thank you, Daddy. I know.” Rose walked straight past him out the door and towards their car.

Ron chuckled and turned to Hermione, “So she didn't wanna take off that dress, huh?”

“Some battles are not worth fighting,” Hermione sighed and kissed the top of Hugo's head in Ron's arms.

“You look beautiful, too, by the way.”

“Thank you, love. So do you.”

Ron kissed her softly on the mouth. “I know.”

“ARE YOU COMING?” Rose yelled from outside, “MY DRESS WILL GET DIRTY.”
