Book 8: The Abandoned

Summary:

All of Yuu's adventures have culminated to this point. They've contributed their fair share of work around Night Raven College. From running errands around the school to managing the questionable student body, they really had their work cut out for them. After all their efforts, it's time to go home. At least that was the plan. You know how the headmage can be. Whatever. It's fine. If they want something done, they just gotta do it themself. No matter the cost, they'll do anything just to feel the warm embrace of home again.

Notes:

If they come out with a book 8, I just know it's gonna take forever. So I decided the best way to past the time was to create my own spin on it. This is less of a prediction and more of what I would like to see happen, and I hope you like it too.

Just some things to be aware of when starting this:

Yuu, is kinda just Yuu. I don't really give them physical descriptions because it just felt..wrong (not that there's anything against having your Yuusonas, it's just a me thing!!) . It also adds to mystery of who they are and allows the reader to imagine how Yuu would like. Kinda with how Stan Lee says "anybody can wear the mask" with Spiderman, anybody can be Yuu. Despite that, Yuu is their own character with their own feelings, and own motivations!!! This is Yuu and Grim's book, so they'll mostly be in the spotlight.

This book takes place around early june; just when the school year is about to end.

More stuff is coming and this will take a while because I try to have a little something for everybody (all of the main cast is getting a feature in this, which is like 22 characters). I update rather frequently since this is by far my fave project, so look forward to more chapters! Any support such as commenting or liking is more than appreciated! Even clicking on this makes me so happy so please don't be shy to give me any feedback. Happy reading!

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

“Happy birthday, Yuu!” the chorus cheers. Yuu is seated at a wooden table, in front of a pink cake crowned with weeping candles. Across from them, two taller figures, their faces foggy from memory, hold their phones up to their eager smiles. The warm light of the room feels like a hug, holding the three of them together.

“Come on, Yuu,” a deep voice urges, “Make a wish!” What to wish for, they wonder. They close their eyes. Tight. With a forceful blow, the flames slither into thin wisps of smoke. One of the figures rises from the chair to give something to Yuu.

“Here, Yuu,” the feminine voice says, handing them a wrapped present, “Open it!”

Yuu tears away the green gift wrapping, revealing a magenta velvet-bound book. Yuu gasps, brushing their fingers across the cover.

“You really got it!” they exclaim, squeezing the figure tightly, “Oh thank you, thank you, thank you!”

“I’m sure it doesn’t compare to my gift,” the figure with a deeper voice replies. They approach Yuu with their hands behind their back with a wide smile. The figure hands Yuu a game cartridge case. The characters seem to be popping out of the case; with its vibrant colors splashed and splotched all over it.

“The sixth sequel? I thought those were hard to get!” Yuu exclaims.

“We’re so happy you enjoyed the presents!” they both exclaim, squeezing Yuu tightly. They’re completely immersed in the warm tingly feeling, yet they feel as light as a feather. Yuu sighs, all of the tension alleviating from their muscles. They gently close their eyes to relish for just one moment.

When they open them again, the two figures are nowhere to be found.
