Matters of Mundane Life

Summary:

In which we continue to see how Tokyo Jujutsu High's resident school counsellor navigates her new found romantic relationship with the source of her decade long pining. All the while handling the shenanigans of her daily life.

Notes:

Hello my lovely readers, I'M BACK! But not for good unfortunately. Updates will be hella slow cuz your poor writer needs to navigate through her daily life shenanigans as an adult too ToT, just without the romance because she's single as fu- Anyways I'm still not sure how many chapters I'm aiming for this. We'll see how this goes.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter Text

"Oh, I wouldn't want to impose-"

"Nonsense!" an old lady's voice chided through the phone. "After all you've done for us, you're always welcomed here."

"Just doing my job, Sister Josephine." (Y/n) replied in a composed manner despite feeling fuzzy and warm inside. "Besides, I'm no longer a member of the faculty."

"Ah! None of that young lady. The principal wouldn't have extended the invite if she thought you were a bother. It's not like you've never attended St Maria's Christmas charity dinner."

(Y/n) had, and it was a little overwhelming if she were to be honest. The charity dinner is one of the many ways they funded scholarships for the non-wealthy.  The dining hall (which was as big as a ballroom) will be filled with not just student and teachers, but with parents as well. Parents who are obviously of an elite background. But even if you weren't parent, so long as someone extended you an invite, you're in. This is after all, a private school for the rich. The students gathered and the parents networked. It was definitely an experience, but (Y/n) wasn't sure if she wanted to attend again. She admitted she liked dressing up nicely and feeling pretty, but she didn't really like their company. Also, in a gathering filled with sly people with hidden intentions, it was hard not to gather cursed spirits as well. So she ended up being exhausted exorcising these minor pesky curses.

"You could bring a friend with you if you want." Sister Josephine continued. "Or any of your work colleagues that came with you the other day."

(Y/n) thought about it for a moment. He has always worn that beige suit of his. It's already his signature look. A uniform. It's nothing out of the ordinary, in fact, she would fall off her chair if he comes to work in anything else. But... she wonders how he would look in a darker colour suit. Navy would look good on him. Or a black tux. A pinstripe would be classy. Perhaps he could do his hair a little differently. The goofy sunglasses would have to go, but if must, then a pair of wire rim glasses would definitely...

"I suppose I can attend."

A lot of things happened over the past few weeks. She nursed a heartbreak. Made a career choice she swore she would never make. Almost died and came back to life. Gained a boyfriend.

"Hehe..." she giggled to herself quietly at the thought.

The whole thing felt new. Still fresh in what people would call the honeymoon phase. A pity that they could not enjoy it to the fullest. (Y/n) would only resume her sorcerer duties after the New Year's. In the mean time, she carried on with her job as Tokyo Jujutsu High's sole school counsellor. And Nanami continued taking missions all over Tokyo. The cold months of winter do beckon a lot of negative energy with the night being long and the sunlight barely seen. Human emotions can be affected by the seasonal change. Perhaps that is the reason why they created a lot of celebrations during such months. But even with the festivities, there are still places where their light does not reach.

Hence, naturally the Jujutsu Sorcerers would be busy during this time of the year as well.  (Y/n) sighed. Would Nanami even had the time to accompany her to the dinner? They just had their day off recently, one where they used for their first official date. And it's not like Christmas is a public holiday here. The only reason (Y/n) could attend the dinner was because her current schedule allowed her to do so. But what about Nanami...

"Sensei!"

A cheerful chorus interrupted her musings, the door of the counselling room slammed open. Two energetic teenagers barged into the room, dragging an edgy boy with them.

"Yuji, Nobara, Fushiguro, how can I help you?"

"Sensei, are you free on the night of the 24th?" Yuji asked.

"Ah, I actually have something that night."

"Awww"

"What did I tell you." Nobara side eyes Yuji. "Of course (Y/n)-sensei is not free for Christmas. She'll be spending it with Nanami-san."

"Oh it's not-"

"Then we should invite Nanamin too."

"Idiot!" Nobara smacked his head. "As a couple of course they want to spend Christmas with just the two of them. If I have a boyfriend, even I wouldn't want to spend Christmas with a bunch of potatoes! Going on a nice romantic candle light dinner. Nervously exchanging heartfelt gifts. Then watching the illuminations together while holding hands. Argh, I'm so jealous!"

"I-it's nothing like that." (Y/n) could feel her face flared up in embarrassment. Nanami and her have been trying to keep it lowkey, even going as far as to minimally talk to each other in school. But due to a certain snow-haired's shenanigans, their relationship is now very much public knowledge. "I was invited to attend a charity dinner at St Maria's Academy for Girls."

"Eh, the rich snobby kids school where we recently had our mission?" Nobara said distastefully. "Oh right, you used to work there."

"Yes, that one." (Y/n) chuckled. "It's sort of a thank you gesture from the principal."

"But a charity dinner sounds like a classy date as well!" Yuji prompted. "In a room full of strangers, there is only both of you to keep each other company from the boredom."

"Huh... Not bad Itadori." Nobara sounding genuinely impressed.

(Y/n) didn't take Yuji to be a romantic, but she supposed it shouldn't be surprising in view of his gentle nature. Honestly what he said was exactly what she was hoping for. To have someone she knew, in that big room full of strangers. Someone she could hold onto. There was Sister Josephine, but she would be busy entertaining the other guests. Sure enough there would be her old colleagues, but she was never as close to them as she felt with her current ones.

Sorry, I'm not sure I could make it in time. I think I'll still be outside Tokyo for a mission on the 24th.

Oh...

She felt a tiny pat on her back, looking up from her phone to see both Yuji and Nobara on her side.

"Goodness! Has no one ever told you kids to not pry into people's conversation." she immediately put her phone down. "Why are you all here anyway?"

"They're planning a Christmas party in the dorms with the second years since Yuta is coming back. We wanted to invite you." Fushiguro answered, breaking out of his silent observation.

"Thank you..." (Y/n) replied, her heart ached a little. "Although I can't attend, I really do appreciate you all thinking of me."

Feeling touched, as the invitation was a sign of how far they've become close to each other. Feeling sad, because she knew that was where she wanted to be. Feeling disappointed, knowing she won't get to spend time with a special someone.

Gentle piano music playing a holiday tune, mingled with the murmurs of people. The lights from the chandelier giving the hall a cozy romantic hue. Tables lined with delicacies and beverages that would sure satisfy your taste buds, prepared by professional chefs and cooks. And be sure that your glass would never run empty with waiters and waitresses subtly filling it to your liking. People dressing up to the nines and walking with an air of poise and elegance. And arrogance.

"Congratulations on that deal your company recently acquired. Haha! Soon you'll take over the whole tech industry in Japan."

"I heard the Fujiwara family was meeting with the Shinomiyas. I suspect something is going on in the cabinet."

"I heard your daughter is going to Julliard after this, congratulations."

"Please, it's nothing compared to your son going to Columbia. Perhaps the both of them could be friends, no? "

"My father said we'll go to Hawaii tomorrow for Christmas. Ugh, I wanted to go to the Alps with Yuri-chan."

"He bought me a Mokumeganeya, I said I wanted a Cartier. I'm breaking up with him."

Some of these conversation, were a good source of gossip entertainment for her. Some of them were just plain pretentious that it was tiring to listen to. And what's more tiring is spotting a few low level cursed spirits lurking around the corners. Curiously eyeing these humans that give off bad energy. Some even clung onto these people. (Y/n) felt like she had no choice but to exorcise those, she could probably just leave them but... it didn't felt right as a Jujutsu Sorcerer. Hence, it was also tiring trying inconspicuously approach these strangers.

(Y/n) finally sat down at the side of the hall where the long buffet table was. She did greeted a few familiar faces during her side quests. First being the principal of course at the main entrance. Then a few students who used to be her clients. Murata, being one of them, gifting her a keychain made by the art club students for the charity event.

"Shh, I'm giving you one for free sensei."

Then there were the teachers. Some of the faces were new, but most of them (Y/n) recognised. Henry, an American who was hired by the school to teach English. He has always been friendly, but his extrovertness can be overwhelming. Mayuko, a biology teacher from a humble background who got along well with her. Her presence was always refreshing amongst staff members who are of privileged background. Onizuka (known as Bald Demon), the academy's strict disciplinary teacher thriving for elegance who (Y/n) worked a lot with. While he may be very strict with the students, he was also reasonable and (Y/n) could count on him to help her with student affairs.

But once all the exorcisms socializing was done, (Y/n) was back to being by herself again. Not that she minded being alone, she needed the rest... but somehow it made her want to leave even more. It wasn't really a bad night, but things didn't go how she ideally imagined it to be.

She downs a glass of orange juice. "Remember, don't drink too much." She rolled her eyes and sighed. Yet her lips couldn't help but upturned slightly. If he was going to worry so much then he should've come with her.

Don't be like that (Y/n), you know how busy he is right now...

How's the dinner so far?

She felt the fatigue washing away, yet there was still this twinge that remained. A feeling she was familiar with for the past 10 years yet had seemingly forgotten for the past few weeks... Longing. How childish of her to be entertaining such feelings at this moment, it's as if she was not used to attending events alone.

She wonders how should she reply. If there is one thing she had learnt about Nanami was that once he cares for someone, he will worry. A lot. He may not show it, but if you look close enough there will be signs. So being completely honest is out of the table. But he would definitely be suspicious if she said she's just fine and that would worry him more. He is oddly perceptive about these things. Perhaps being frank really was the best route.

No, wait. That's cringey. Let me just delete-

"(Y/n) dear, I'm glad you could make it!"

(Y/n) accidentally slammed her phone down a little too hard as she stood to greet Sister Josephine. Glad to see another familiar face in this sea of strangers. Especially one that has always given her warmth. Behind her is another colleague she already knew.

"Are you alone though?" the sister enquired.

"Haha, yes. My colleague unfortunately couldn't make it."

"Oh what a shame." Sister Josephine patted her arm. "Perhaps Yamato-sensei here can keep you company. Won't you, Yamato-sensei?"

"Certainly. I think we have a lot to catch up, don't we (L/n)?"

Yamato is a PE teacher and supervisor for the volleyball club. Perhaps the closest associate she had in this school, they still kept in contact until now. He was the first person (Y/n) interacted with here and he helped her settled in the school. He was sociable and dependable. His family is that of a higher class pedigree. Honestly, he could've just followed the footsteps of his brother and inherit the family business. But he loved teaching and he enjoyed sports, so here he is. His passion for his job is obvious from how sincere he is when interacting with students. Not to mention with how many years he had guided the volleyball team to national victories. He was generally liked by the students and staff members. Although some of them do like him a little too much with how easy on the eyes he is.

"It's been a while Yamato-sensei." (Y/n) replied.

"Sheesh, I told you to drop the sensei already. Besides, we're not even colleagues anymore."

"Hahaha!" She couldn't help it. He was someone she respected a lot. Honestly if it weren't for him, (Y/n) would've had a hard time navigating and fitting in here. "Yamato-senpai then."

"I'd prefer if you drop the honorifics but sure, senpai will do for now."

"Alright, I'll leave you both to it." Sister Josephine gave him a reassuring pat on the arm before she left.

"So... How's your current workplace? I heard from Sister Josephine that it's a Buddhist school?"

"Yes it is." For some reason, (Y/n) can't help but notice how tired he looked.

"No offense, but I can't imagine a Buddhist monk trainee coming to you with 'worldly problems' to share."

"Haha... You see, I'm there because, uh..." she realised the dark circles beneath his eyes. "for research purposes! The correlation between Zen Buddhism and Hypnotherapy."

"Interesting." He mused.

"And you?" (Y/n) could see it now, something dark and heavy is shrouding him. "No offense, but I can't help but feel like something is bothering you."

"Hah," Shaking his head, sounding surprised yet defeated. But his eyes soften when he looked at her. "Nothing ever escapes you does it?"

"Well, what is it then?"

"It's nothing, really. I'm just always tired for some reason these past few weeks. Maybe I'm about to come down with a cold. Or maybe I'm just overworked with the Spring Nationals coming up."

(Y/n) didn't think it was nothing, but he probably couldn't see it from his perspective. "Well anything interesting that happened prior to all this?"

"Aside from Yamamoto's case, I don't there's anything really eventful that happened recently."

"Alright, but what I meant was anything personally interesting that happened?"

"I don't think so..."

"Anything really. Stepping on shit, losing a wallet, weird dreams, getting complaints from parents."

The expression on his face shifts to an uncomfortable one. His eyes evading hers, almost in a shameful and guilty manner.

"Well, senpai?"

He opened his mouth, but no words came out. His fingers fidgeting with the hem of his suit jacket. Hesitance. Nervousness. Fear. Pursing his lips together, his eyes darted around carefully. His voice dropped to a whisper, "Do you mind if we talk somewhere more private."

"Of course."

The distance from the dining hall to the teachers' office takes about 7 minutes. A route her feet was already familiar with. Although walking through these corridors at night was new. It felt as if she was at a different place with how darkly lit they were. Exhaling out vapour that were visible against the cold air.

"Here," Yamato handed her his jacket as they entered the academic building. "Sorry that we didn't go grab your coat first."

"Oh, it's fine."

"Come on (L/n), it's the least I can do. I doubt they'd keep the heaters on in the office at this hour." Besides, she was never good with the cold.

She gratefully put the jacket on, the chills over her arms subsiding as the warmth took over. She thanked him as they arrived at their destination. Heading straight to his desk.

"Promise you won't judge." he pulled a chair for her as he sat on his.

"Personally it may be difficult, but professionally I'm obliged to." she replied playfully, trying to lighten up this oddly dark atmosphere that has been creeping up on them for a while. "Go on."

He took a deep breath. "About 2 weeks ago, I received a love letter from this particular student."

Nothing new there, he gets these letters all the time. From both teenagers and adults in this school ground. Especially when Valentine rolls around, there would be a bunch of chocolate and sweets on his desk first thing in the morning.

"Look, for some reason, I kept having..." he looks at the ground. " inappropriate dreams about her. It felt so real that it scared me even. It's been disturbing my sleep ever since."

"Have you always been attracted to this student?"

"Hell no!" He grimaced. Slightly disappointed that she would suggest such a thing. "These are kids we're talking about. I wasn't even thinking about her prior to all this." Besides, there was only one person he's attracted to.

(Y/n) sensed a lot of negative energy emanating from him. The room getting darker. She gently took his hand. "And how does all of this make you feel?"

"A lot of things... For all my years as a teacher, I have never felt more undeserving. I am disgusted with myself. I'm scared. And I don't know if I even deserve to say this, and it doesn't make sense but..." he went quiet for moment. His shoulders sagged in defeat. But there was a sense of calm in his heart that he hadn't felt in a while. A sense of safety in this moment. "I felt like I was violated."

"Yamato-senpai, it must have been tough. To keep these feelings of guilt to yourself, with no one to confide in. I can assure you that what you're feeling is valid. I know it's hard to understand what's going on right now, but I'm here and I can help you. Alright, I assume you would have already thrown away the letters." As he usually does.

"I haven't."

Her brow slightly raised. "Why?"

"I... don't know." Confusion evident on his features. As if a fog had suddenly cloud his brain.

Bingo.

"Can I have a look at the letter?"

Dear Yamato-sensei,
I've liked you for a long time. I know you won't accept my feelings. But please, at the very least don't throw away this gift.
Love, Miki

There is a trace of cursed energy. So (Y/n) asked to see the gift. The moment he pulled it out of his drawer, she felt a chill that even his jacket couldn't shield her away from.

A love charm.

One that you can purchase from any temple or even online these days. Whether one actually believes in it's effectiveness or not, generally it is harmless. Cute even. But (Y/n) can tell there is nothing cute about that red sachet in his hand. His full name embroidered in shiny gold thread.

And when she looked up from the love charm, a cursed spirit was glaring back at her. Hiding behind Yamato's back, it's wide eyes visible behind her long black hair. Her bony fingers tightly clamped on his shoulders. Her teeth bared almost to the point of hissing at (Y/n). But despite her eerie appearance, she is only a Grade 3 at best. Doesn't mean she didn't spook the hell out of the Jujutsu Sorcerer. (Y/n) could only praise herself for not shrieking in fright.

(Y/n) swears she has an affinity towards cursed objects when it comes to the Jujutsu world just as how she has an affinity towards patients with depressive disorders in her counselling career. Perhaps she wants to consider a career path as a cursed object specialist in the future?

"I know you don't believe in things like superstitions, but trust me when I say this gift is the reason for your weird dreams. Let me," keeping her eyes calmly on Yamato so as not to alarm him (seeing as he is currently in a state of stupor, perhaps she wouldn't worry so much on that) and hopefully not aggravate the spirit behind him. "...handle it for you."

She snatched the the damn thing from his hand and booked it. Grabbing a pen from some random teacher's table while she's at it. And she was right to have chosen to run away seeing as the cursed spirit was desperately trying to bury her claws on her. Once (Y/n) made sure they were at a safe distance away from Yamato (and away from the cursed spirit herself), she slammed the charm on the wall beside her. Her cursed energy flowing into the pen as she stabbed the cursed object. A screech echoed in the halls, followed by an eruption of colourful flames.

(Y/n) huffed. All in a day's work, right? Honestly she feels like she's not being paid enough for this.

She hurried back to the teachers' office to find Yamato passed out in his chair. He looked to be in peace. No longer shroud in darkness. She smiled to herself. All of this is taking her back to before she joined Tokyo Jujutsu High. Back when she was just a school counsellor in all of these normal Japanese high schools. The situations were also a bit like this. She supposed in a way she never actually left the Jujutsu World in the first place. And perhaps she can never will.

"Yamato-senpai!" she shook his shoulder, effectively waking him up.

He glanced around, slightly in a daze. "What happened?"

"You fell asleep."

He sat up straight. "All of a sudden?"

"I was, uh... giving you hypnotherapy."

He blinked his eyes. Fully awake now. "I needed hypnotherapy?"

"Well your sleep schedule was impacted by your troubles that appeared to have given you immense stress, so I figured maaaybe hypnotherapy would work for you. And, and-" (Y/n) felt herself about to break into a cold sweat. " Anyway, how are you feeling right now?"

Yamato gathered his thoughts. Weird, he did not remembered agreeing for it. They were talking about the uncomfortable dream, his sleep being disturbed, a love letter and... then what? Everything was a blur from there. Was that when the hypnotherapy started? Was that when he fell asleep? Speaking of which.

"I felt like my shoulders are lighter. My mind more refreshed. Like I just had a really good power nap." He looked up at her in amazement. "Thank you (L/n)."

All in a day's work.

"Yamato-senpai, I advise you not to accept anymore gifts presented to you in such manner. You might be roped into... forming unwanted attachments. And that would have given cause to your troubles." her face serious. She would be sure to send him a protective charm, she suspects he might run into something like this again in the future. "Also, if you ever encounter such weird problems again, do not hesitate to contact me. We're friends, right?"

"Of course..." he smiled, yet it didn't quite reach his eyes.

They head back slowly to the dining hall. Making small talk along the way. Reminiscing the short period when (Y/n) was still here. Catching up (as much as she can possibly tell) with their current lives.

"Well, here we are." Yamato stopped at the side entrance of the dining hall. Murmurs of the crowd could be heard from behind the wooden doors. "Ready to go back in?"

Frankly she didn't want to, but there is still another hour before Ijichi comes to pick her up.

"You know, if you want, we don't really have to go back in there." He had noticed her hesitance. The small sigh of hers. He is looking everywhere except at her. His cheeks have gone pink, due to the cold of course! "We could just, chill at the greenhouse if you want. It's warm there. Or maybe you'd like to sit by the fountain in the rose garden? Or- oh!"

(Y/n) followed his gaze, where they fixated on the warm lamp hanging above them. Attached to the lamp, is a mistletoe.  She chuckled, "I see the students are still up to their cheeky tricks."

The charity dinner is opened to anyone receiving an invitation from the staff or students. So a lot of these girls would take the opportunity to create convenient scenarios for themselves. Be it as an excuse to kiss their partners on Christmas, or an as an opening for a once in a life time Christmas confession that would be sealed in a kiss. The teachers (Onizuka in particular) would be on the lookout to confiscate these things, but it can't help that they still missed a few sometimes. Because even some teachers would take part in this secret event.

"(L/n)..." Yamato called softly. Gulping down the ball of nerves in his throat.

"Yes, senpai?" (Y/n) responded, tightening his jacket over her shoulders.

Oh how he had always loved the way her eyes look. So full of curiosity and wonder. A window to her the wonderful expressions she made. How many people had she reassured with those eyes together with her words. He knew it's part of her job, but even so there is sincerity when does it. It makes him admire her even more.

"You know, I didn't think I'd see you again after you left." Yamato took a deep breath. He missed his chance the first time. He's not going to repeat the same mistake. The mistletoes might have been an act of cheekiness, but it had certainly paved the way for him now. "and now that you're here, I just want you to know that I had always find you to be an admirable person. Someone I respect. (L/n), from admiration and respect, I have grown to-"

"(Y/n)."

The way her eyes just lit up in a split second. The tiny gasp that escaped her lips. How her face immediately brightens with a smile so affectionate. One that he has never seen before. How she turned her whole body in an instant. Towards the voice who called out her name in familiarity. How her feet carried her away with no hesitance. How she flew away from him.

And Yamato realised, he never had a chance to begin with.

"Nanami!"

There stood a tall blond man. Probably has some sort of Caucasian mix to his blood. Dressed formally in a beige suit, a blue scarf around his neck. His hands in his pockets and shoulders squared. Yamato would have thought wearing sunglasses in the middle of the night is ridiculous if it weren't for the fact how serious and borderline intimidating this man's face was, his whole demeanor even. For some reason, Yamato could tell he was being stared down behind those goofy glasses. Beside the man called Nanami was Sister Josephine, giving them a tiny nod.

"What are you doing here?" (Y/n) can't help but grin.

"Picking you up."

"But you said you'll still be outside of Tokyo on 24th."

"I finished early."

(Y/n) looked at her watch and then rolled her eyes at him. "Still, the journey is long and you must have taken the 2nd or 3rd last train to get back to Tokyo. Not to mention the long drive here. And I've told you not to worry about it, Ijichi was more than fine to drive me here. Heck you don't even like making detours after mi- finishing your job."

Nanami sighed. He's too tired for this. He muttered under his breath, just loud enough for her ears. "Well how could I not when you sent me a message like that."

Sender: (L/n) (Y/n)
I didn't think I'd feel so lonely in a room full of people. But it's alright, I'm actually used to it. But I wished I had spent it with you and the kids at school.

(Y/n) was flabbergasted. Screaming inside. She thought she had already deleted that cringey message. Heck she even forgot about it. And he rushed back, for that? No. He couldn't possibly for that reason alone.

The black suit jacket over her shoulders was replaced with a beige one.

"I believe this is yours." Nanami handed Yamato his jacket with curt thank you. "And thank you Sister Josephine for helping me find (L/n). We'll be taking our leave now."

"Wait, my coat!"

"Yes yes, we'll go get it before heading to the car."

"Also did you just called me (Y/n)?"

"You heard wrong."

Yamato watched their backs as they happily walked away. So engrossed in each other's company. An aching sensation arising from his chest.

"It's freezing out here, how about we have some tea in the chapel." Sister gave him a comforting pat on the back before heading off. "I find that a good cup heals the soul."

"Thank you, Sister." he whispered, looking up again to see her beaming radiantly at the blond man. The happiest he has ever seen her, that's good.

The corner of his is eyes suddenly stung. He scoffed as he went to join Sister Josephine's company.

"- and so it turned out that the love charm is cursed. Literally giving out negative energy. Like I try not to think to much about it when I work, because these are my target clients, but teenagers really do scare the living shit out of me sometimes and it makes me wonder why I chose to be a counsellor in the first place."

They had already entered the city when (Y/n) finally finished telling Nanami what she has been up to during the dinner.

"Did you at least get to eat?" Nanami made a turn to the left after the traffic light.

"Of course! I may have been occupied with my mini exorcisms, and I do dislike these events in general, but I would never miss the food. I wish we had at least gone inside before we left so you could try them. The tuna tartare toasts are good. But I know you're tired and you'd rather eat at home..." she fiddled with the button of his blazer. He had not asked for it back, her coat tossed to the back of the car that he borrowed from Ijichi. "You sure you don't want me to drive instead?"

"I'd rather get home in one piece tonight, thank you."

"Rude!"

They had driven out of city and towards the mountains. Buildings far less, trees lining the side of the steepened roads. The night bright and cloudless. (Y/n) recognised this road very well.

"You're driving me back to school?"

"Isn't that obvious?"

"I mean yes," she huffed. "But I- well-"

"You wanted to spend Christmas with everyone right? Gojo said the party is still going and they're all willing to wait for you." Nanami kept his focus on the road, but occasionally took a peek at his passenger. "Was I wrong?"

"No, no! You're right, I really do want to spend Christmas with them." She felt so touched she wanted to cry. "It's just since it's already this late, I thought you were taking me to your apartment tonight?" The last time she went was when she got drunk.

"..."

"..."

Wait.

"Wait, no! I- I didn't mean it that way!" her face felt hot.

"I know." he responded calmly. Grateful that it was dark enough to hide the heat creeping up his neck.

When they finally reached Tokyo Jujutsu High, they were attacked greeted by the first years and Gojo. Both pulled inside the common dining area in the dormitories. They were having hotpot and fried chicken. There was cake too. Yuji made his meatball special and prepared the ingredients with Maki and Fushiguro's help. Nobara, Panda and Inumaki had put up the decorations. (Y/n) finally met the infamous Okkotsu Yuta. A sweet boy with a menacing aura. It seemed he had almost stabbed Yuji today upon first meeting. But still a sweet boy nevertheless, he gave her a souvenir. With Gojo's whining, he had convinced Nanami to just stay over in one of the unused dorms and thus got him to stay for the party.

Although it was already late and Nanami and (Y/n) were quite tired, they still had a very Merry Christmas.
