Scene one
Scene: The new Lake Town, one day after The Hobbit. Meny people are at work fixing the old town on the Lonely MT, BARD and VLEX enter stage right. (BARD with tools, VLEX with some as well.)
BARD: I don’t know what I am going to do with this town… (sighs) … The dwarfs say they will give all the Lake Towners some gold… At least two hundred coins for each person—
VLEX: Bard, you need to stop calling it that!
BARD: Stop calling what, what?
VLEX: You need to stop calling it Lake Town for it is not on a lake anymore! It is on the Lonely MT! It should be Bard’s Town!
BARD: Well, (BARD chuckles) maybe not that… But I’ll put you in charge of naming the town.
VLEX: Then Bard’s Town it is!
BARD: All right Vlex…
(Vieger 1 walks past on the way off stage, VLEX stops him)
VLEX: Welcome to Bard’s Town!! (With enthusiasm)
(Vieger 1 walks off stage right giving VLEX a weird look)
(NICK enters stage left, BARD exits stage right. NICK walks up to VLEX.)
NICK:I am soooo hot! Agha! Okay, you have any water? I have been lugn’ bricks! Oh yes! How rude of me! I am Nick! ( NICK does a small bow.) And what might your name be?
VLEX: My name is Vlex! Sorry I don't have any water. Are you looking for a place to stay? We have plenty of room, we just need to build it first.
NICK: Oh yes, I have a place to stay! Right there. I'm staying in that house right over there. Do you have a place to stay? I came here expecting a little more... A little better if you know what I mean there isn't exactly an inn here.
VLEX: Yes, I have a place to stay. Right over there. (Points)
NICK: Oh you stay there too. ( Chuckles) well that's funny! We both have the exact same home. This is awkward. Oh well, I was planning on moving anyway, maybe visit my people you know, in the woods and stuff.
VLEX: Oh well I was planning on doing the same thing! I was planning to leave anyway. Aren't you an elf? I thought elves lived in Rivendell?
NICK: Some do, yes. But I am from the Wood Land Realm. It is better to live there and not in Rivendell! I looove Rivendell but the Wood Land Realm is better! Far better!
VLEX: Oh, I see. Well Nick would you mind if I went with you to the Wood Land Realm?
NICK: I will be stopn’ by Rivendell on the way to Bag End then we would go there!
(VLEX puts down the tools, as NICK starts to walk away. NICK stops to help VILLAGER 2 with the latter he is having trouble with.)
(Dwarves enter stage left, with a big carriage full of a bunch of little bags full of gold coins the dwarves reluctantly handed out the bags, some of the dwarves made grumpy whining sounds as they did.)
NICK: can I have one!?
VLEX: Yeah, over here! Give us some over here!
(BARD enters stage left)
BARD: There is enough for all of you… I think…
(NICK and VLEX get a bag of gold.)
NICK: Good now I can—we can go and see the world!
(All exit.)
