Chapter 1: Uhh

Chapter Text

“This is fuckin’ stupid!”

“Calm down, Matt. Surely we’ll be moving soon.”

The traffic seemed to stretch endlessly, a sea of vibrant cars, entirely stationary. Matt was worrying at his fingernails in the driver’s seat, becoming increasingly frustrated with the situation at hand.

Almost 15 minutes had gone by without the smallest inclination of movement and the three brothers were getting understandably concerned. Chris spoke up from the passenger’s seat.

“What do you think is taking so long?”

Only Nick gave him a response

“A bad accident maybe? How the hell are we supposed to know?”

Matt’s leg bounced as he watched their arrival time get later on his GPS. They were headed to a meeting. It wasn’t far and the journey normally wasn’t congested, at least not like this.

Chris’s watched carefully as a blonde-haired woman ran down the sidewalk in the opposite direction of them, looking distressed. Something about it stirred a gnawing feeling it his stomach that wouldn’t leave him alone. He didn’t mention it to his brothers, though, certain that it meant nothing to them.

Nick lazily scrolled through social media, his heart not really in it. The standstill traffic was starting to drive him a little nuts. He broke away from his phone, instead peering through the backseat window at the faces of equally irritated drivers and passengers in the cars beside them.

“Another one”

Chris mumbled to no one but himself. A man this time was running down the street away from their destination, looking equally as frantic as the woman. This only furthered the gut feeling that was starting to eat Chris alive.

“What?”

Matt asked, his anxiety-ridden trance broken by Chris’s fascination with the people outside.

Chris didn’t need to explain, another person running down the street explaining it for him.

Then another. And another.

Somehow there was now decently sized crowds running down the street away from whatever was blocking the flow of traffic.

Chris reached his arm into the back seat, tapping Nick’s shoulder to get his attention.

“What the fuck.”

Nick gazed at the people flowing around their car as if it was a boulder in a stream, oblivious as to what could possibly going on.

He froze as he saw something that was hideously unexplainable. It was a person, standing on top of a car a few lanes down for them. Only this couldn’t be a person with how horridly it’s body was contorting.

Limbs stuck out in ways that shouldn’t be possible, teeth poking through bloody cheeks, a pale white hue of skin that no person should ever be. It limped with an eerie stride, it’s movements jerky and unnatural.
