Rated T for swear words ♡

Notes:

The idea for this fic came to me in a dream where I was reading something better than my own writing. but, get this, my brain created it. Anyway, it originally had more takumi in it, i chose to cut that out.

edit: apparently I put takumi in the tags. that was a mis-click, he is not allowed in here.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

"You're so mean, Nana," and her lips pouted until they curled.
And Nana looked over at her with every black hole in her eyes. And looked away.
"Yeah?" She raised her face up for a second when she said it. Like it was interesting. "You're cruel, too."
Hachiko tilted her pouty little face like she's new to talking like this, new to whatever this dynamic is.
Nana stared back.
"You make me stupid."
"I didn't mean to."
"No, but you did it. You need lots of attention, you're gonna get all sad and then I'll get sad."
"I know."
"You don't care?"
"I do."
"Bout that, maybe."
"No, about you and me."
Nana actually did turn her head. Hachi's there with half her body leaning over the table and her hair flipped off her neck like a little kid coming up from a nap.
"Yeah? Then don't bring guys in here just cuz you're lonely, call me." She nodded and shrunk back down. "At least don't make me come home to em."
"I'm sorry."
"Whatever, it's none of my business. That's why I don't wanna see it." That's why, right?
"Yeah, I get it, don't worry. But I don't think I wanna have 'em over anymore anyway."
"You're smart," Nana looked back down and fucked with her nails again.
Hachi did too, she probably didn't even notice. Nana did. "Mhm," She looked out the window, "I missed you."
"Missed you too."
"You did?"
"You think I'm lying?"
Hachi smiles. "No, well, maybe."
"I'm not, I did."
That made her feel special - you could see it when she squeezed her shoulders up and smiled at the table. Like a crazy baby.
"Hey, Nana,"
Nana had snuck off into the bathroom by now. Damn, how was she so quiet?! Hachi whined and slumped over.
"Nanaaa..."
Nana came out a couple minutes later. "What are you barking about?"
"Nothin."
"Nothing?"
"Nothing!"
"Tell me."
She sat up straight, pouted, huffed. "I just don't wanna do this crazy stuff anymore, I wanna be normal."
"... So delete his number, I dunn-"
"I mean with you! No more friends who do crazy things, cuz friends don't kiss and touch each other! You either like girls or you don't, I dunno what I am but I know it's not fake and it makes me all depressed!"
Nana sighed so she wouldn't shiver, bit her cheek and scratched a cuticle so she wouldn't smoke.
“So you think that'd go over well? Your mom wants to hear about that? Your dad?"
"Well, no, but I don't wanna live a sad life."
"You might be."
"No, I wouldn't, I'd be with you!"
"Why, huh?"
"Cuz! Cuz I like you!" She made it all special, like "like" is gonna translate to "love but you're making fun of me," instead, "And you like me, who cares? okay, some losers, but your whole thing is being anti-loser!"
"Anti-authority."
"Authorities are losers that say we shouldn't be together!”
Nana clicked her tongue and sighed. but she was smiling, "Okay, if you're so sure, then try me."
And she did - she ran right up and sealed her cheeks with as many little kisses as could fit on her face. Nana could just stand and awkwardly hold her arms out.
"I like you. Like, a lot. But I don't like pretending I don't just cuz you're shy! At least be proud about it to your friends, you tell me you are, so don't be scared anymore, and I won't either!"
Nana breathes her in through the mouth and pats her down.
"I got it, okay? I'll be good about it. For your sake," Hachi frowns, "And mine, and cuz I am. Better?" She kisses her forehead.
That's the reason Nana's sitting in a milky bubble bath with wet hair and a chatterbox exfoliating her arms.
Hachi's telling her all about the less-than-great guys - somehow, it didn't get brought up before how bad they really were - and Nana's rolling her eyes at them and telling her she better not settle that far down again.
"But, I'm not gonna! I can't talk to guys anymore."
Nana sighs. This is gonna be a guessing game for her if she doesn't make it obvious. "Why, cuz of me?"
"Yeah! Here, smell." She held up some body wash - blackberries and jasmine. "I found it for cheap, it's so you!"
"Yeah, it's nice." And Hachi smiles inside and out, because someone actually cares to think about it when she likes how something smells or wants to be ultra-sweet for an hour or two.
"You're gonna smell so good!"
“You think I smelled bad?”
“No!” And within a fistful of bubbles, she's giving Nana's shoulder some little kisses, like she can taste the blackberry on her skin. Nana's looking up at the tiles on the wall and the spots on the ceiling. She's looking away from where happy tears come from, because it just wouldn't be cool to cry like a baby in a bathtub.
And when Hachi's at her table and mirror, getting all done up again, it's harder not to kiss, when Nana's got her lipstick on and she knows it'll leave prints all over.
And if she does, Hachi squirms and smiles for her again, scrunches up her nose, sighs when she sees all the marks over the powder she placed.
She makes sure to put on lip gloss and mess up Nana's later.
“Hey, Nanaaa, taste some of the filling for me?”
She's got a spoon, but Nana doesn't take it, just scoops some up with Hachi's hand on it and tastes it quietly.
“It's nice,” She tosses the spoon in the sink. Hachi stares, and then she runs to get Nana back. There's a jump and a yelp, and now they're on the floor in a play-fight again, smeared in flour and cherry pie. Nana wipes her mouth on Hachi's apron before she kisses her.
“You taste like cherry pie!”
“Who's fault is that?”
“Mine.” She kisses Nana again for a taste, “And I like it.”
