Would like to play this game?

Summary:

Vi is a pro gamer. Her career is kinda rocky. Caitlyn is a editor. She loves reading books. (maybe to escape reality but she loves fantasy.) Somehow they will get together??

Idk if this had been done before but here you go.

Notes:

Hi, I'm a new writer. I played lots of games and read books. but almost never wrote something.
I hope you like it. There may be some game spesific words. I will explain them at the end. Happy reading.
There is no use of AI in writing of this fic. If I'm going to be bad it is going to be with my own effort.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter Text

"hi chat, welcome to today's stream. I'm your good looking host Jayce aka ManOfProgress. Today we have friendly matches with our viewers. Here I have my long time friend Vi as you know her “ViStandsForVictory” here and we will beat all of you. Get ready and join the queue"

Vi was cringing at the background. She lost a bet so had to play with Jayce on the stream and make him win every game against his viewers, make him look good. They were playing a 5v5 competitive shooter, a game where Vi was a pro player, best of best. she and her team won a couple of tournaments in the past but last year was dry. Still she was very good at this game.

She met Jayce when the game was new. They were playing unranked games while learning the game and waiting for ranked to go live. He started streaming so they had a fallout but still they get together twice a month. whenever they get together in game they act like dumb asses. Vi would try trick-shots. jayce would force her to get a knife kill. They like to have fun and de-stress. This was her favorite times playing the game nowadays. Other ways game started to feel too much of a job these days.

Vi was playing casual, prepping up kills for Jayce. His chat was asking her a lot of questions? How someone goes pro? How to get good like her? and she was getting irritated from the attention considering this was Jayce's night, his followers. On occasion some boy would ask her discord, and she would say no. No need to explain herself to some self-entitled gamers. After 4 hours of assisting it was time to log off, to go to touch some grass.

She get ready to go to gym. Her daily routine was team training or solo training, food break, 3-4 ranked games, daily training in gym with Vander, go home to her cat chill, sleep, repeat. She didn't have much social life. Gaming took most of the time and there was Jayce always calling to gaming nights. Most of the time they played something new. And Vi would get the rules wrong or spend all of the combine money to something silly. With Jayce she started to open herself to other then shooters. She always played shooters. She was really good at them. Occasionally they played shooter but she never went all in it was a fun night. there was no need to try hard. Sometimes Jayce would shoot the most and become MVP while Vi didn’t. and he would be unbearable how he got the first place. But Vi only laughed. Not everyday he get to boast like this to her.

Team training become brutal. Coach was making them work extra hours on friendlies. Always trying new strategies. Somebody should have told him that maybe let the players simmer with the strategy without changing first. so they can see what works and what doesn't. She wasn't happy with the direction team coach was going.

After two weeks of Jayce's stream Jayce asks again for a game night and promises no new game, they would play her game. The game where she was really good. She was free tonight and said yeah. so they agreed go online at 8. and Jayce reminded her to come with her smurf account. So Vi went to her daily routine. when she went to gym. Vander was busy so she started with some cardio and then they would meet up for friendly boxing match. on Fridays they would always have a match. and he would try to use wisdom on her.

"Kiddo, I know I'm the last person to say but. You should meet with friends." Vander using right arm try to make her focus. Vi easily blocked.

"Dad. I have friends. I have you, Powder, Mylo, Claggor." Vi replied jokingly. On ring she moved backwards, away from her adoptive father.

"real friends" said Vander closing in. Vi sighed.

"What I have real friends? I meet with them all time." she said going on attack with a direct punch.

"Online friends doesn't count kiddo. You gotta eat with them, drink with them. You probably don't know how they look. They maybe 40 year old man babies." Vander easily side stepped to the left and punch Vi on the shoulder.

"Yeah, yeah you keep thinking that old man. This is the new age." Vi laughed. This was a long lasting argument Vander never let go of.

Even tho Vander knew better to keep it light. Don't force her daughter. She never socialize outside of family. (at least he didn't see) He was worried. Worried for her eye-sight, worried for her social skills. At least she comes to gym to spend time with dad. Powder was away at university. Mylo and Claggor living with him. Only Vi moved out. When growing up he relied on her a lot. But after her gaming career started. She wanted to move out and he didn't said no. It was time for her to do something for herself.

They make their goodbyes. Vi went home. played with ahsoka, fed her, took a shower and ready to relieve stress. She log on. Accepted Jayce's invite.

There were 2 new players. One of them Cupcake72 and the other Frog Face. She said hi. Jayce started introducing. "Vii! My shining star." with usual happy voice. "We have 2 new players. they are new at the game so please go easy on the board. Cupcake is Caitlyn she started 2 weeks ago. and GloriousEvolution is Victor my friend from work. and you know Mel. It is just us tonight."
