Work Text:

The House of Danea, the biggest expanse of knowledge in Teyvat. Scholars from all ages scattered across the globe would use the library as a hub to grant their wishes for thirst of knowledge or to help acquire information to accomplish unreadable feats

The paned windows gleamed rays of sunlight into the library shrouding the library in a cozy haze.

A young Darshan mumbled in disbelief as he passed from section to column.

Kaveh finger skimmed lamenting through authors pen-names mumbling letters.
E…F..G..H…
He stuttered as he picked encyclopaedias placing the wrong lettered ones from the shelf on the tiled floors , in bold lettering read, The Principles of Architecture”. He sighed noting it was the wrong encyclopaedia, finally he started to place the encyclopaedias back in its designated slot until through the crack his breath hitched at the sight.

The grey haired man poised at the desk briskly turned the pages, deep in thought. He brought his ball point pen towards his journal scribbling down linguistics.

Kaveh was stunned the book in his palm forgotten as he studied the man researching 100 yards from him.

He couldn’t deny the man at the table was just intelligent, he had striking features, his fluffiness of his hair, the sharpness of his jaw, gleaming into the man’s pupils was taking expansion of a universe, the hues of turquoise mixed with yellow and skies of oranges, not to forget the smudge of red liner complimented the hues.

Kakavasha sauntered towards kaveh beginning to speak. “I spoke to Katayoun the book you tried to source, hasn’t been translated and you-“ his voice died as he took in Kaveh, his head swivelled to where Kaveh curiosity sat, his eyebrow furrowed.

“Isn’t he the highly educated pupil from the Haravat Darshan, I’ve heard he’s always studying and has a repulsion towards those who disagree with his principles”.

Kaveh blinked. “I agree with the former but regarding the repulsion, I don’t see his supposed repulsion, just a hard worker with the attitude of a Scholar”.

Kakavasha bit his lip. “Oh.. So The architect has a crush.. oh and I thought my troubles were extreme.”

Kaveh mused beginning to stutter. “I don’t have a crush, I’ve met him a few times on occasions, it was embarrassing, I met him at the Sabzeruz Festival the Darshans get so competitive, but not him, another when the Kshahrewars needed a Student of the Haravatat to conduct their intellect into finding some runes on an area where we were beginning to build the foundations of a architecture project on.

Both men paused as A man with a violet wolf cut treaded towards the low table barring a greeting to his fellow colleague. Alhaithem attention towards his book retreated as he placed his pen down, beginning to converse.

“A darshan from Vahumana I believe, however I can’t see his logo, is it a horse?”

“That’s Veritas, Ratio, the rumours circulated around the Akademiya speak he’s self centred and detests idiocy, his punctuality is alike with Alhaithem.”

“So two of the most intelligent men in the Akademiya are friends, how odd, I questioned that they would be academic rivals, particularly if they are in opposing Darshans.”

Kaveh rambled while Kakavasha playfully pushed him away Kaveh tripped over the previously discarded books reaching out to Kakavasha for balance as they collided with the floor, they winced in pain as encyclopaedias smacked their bodies.

The falling of the encyclopaedias silenced the conversation. Who’s there?” Two voices perked up.

Kakavasha and Kaveh groaned helping the other up, their faces dropped stumbling towards the bypass.

“Sorry, we weren’t actually snooping we just- “ kaveh tensed his voice began stuttering as he gleamed towards his shorter friend for an alibi, who laughed nervously.

“We were looking for a book for my friend here, Kaveh. I don’t suppose you both-“‘
Kakavasha shut his mouth at the two gentleman expressions.

The grey haired man spoke up. “Oh Kaveh, yes I remember you, we met when your darshan were taking up a project.

Kaveh cheeks rosed. “Yeah, that’s me, you remember that, I’m surprised.”

Alhaithem tilted his head in confusion. “I was present that day, I was the darshan sent to decipher those runes”.

Kaveh places his palms out wavering them around. “Oh no of course I know that, I just theorised- Nevermind”

Kakavasha went to whisper a reminder of the encyclopaedia when he was stopped

“I haven’t seen this student before, what’s your name?” Alhaithem rumbled.

“Aventurine, I’m currently taking extra studies for the exams particularly for Rtawahist, I have a belief there lies more beyond the reaches of Teyvat”.

Veritas choked expression. “I would tread carefully, your echoing the sins of forbidden knowledges, If you aren’t careful you could be punished or even expelled before you’ve even started.”

Aventurine smirked, “oh i’ll willingly gamble with my odds, darshan.”

Veritas pupil twitched.

“It was an encyclopaedia on the foundations of structures in different nations, It wasn’t placed in its designated section”.

Alhaithem paused. “The book you are searching for was left here. He picked it up showing the two men. “I thought it left in a hurry by a student who had to leave quickly for a class.

Kaveh pupils lit up. “That’s the one! May I take it off your hands?”

Alhaithem laughed. “Only if you say please”.

Kaveh sighed. “Please, may I have the book.

Alhaithem turned to Veritas. “Enough or you think more?”

Aventurine and Kaveh gasped. “The book, the one I said please and used manners for, pass it.” Kaveh reached his palm out as an invitation using his fingers to point to his opened palm.

Veritas laughed playing along.
“Me and Alhaithem have become costumed to its company, it would be an awful shame to part with such refined knowledge”.

“If you are making fun of another darshan, you can forget this exchange, you are lucky you are both so smart and got accepted, some of us, don’t have a higher degree, like yours”. Aventurine hissed in discontent.

“We didn’t mean any harm, apologises if you believe we insulted you, we never meant our words to have that intention.” Veritas expressed eyeing the smaller male.

“What was your intensions?” The two men glumly stared hands on their hips.

“For you both to join us, studying, there are two extra seats available , you seemed interested at the prospect of spying on us earlier”. Alhaithem concluded patting one of the chairs.

Kakavasha and Kaveh turned towards the other in shock, both bursting into laughter at the situation.

“Kakavasha your expression was of a soured kitten you- Kakavasha covered Kaveh mouth at the mention of his name.

Kaveh mumbled an apology. He heard a soft gasp. “Kakavasha, your name stands for blessing. What an intriguing name, you should use it rather than the former you used earlier, this one suits you so much better”. Veritas expressed as Alhaithem upturned grin stopped him speaking.

“I only use it with Kaveh and those I’m close with, I would appreciate it if you don’t spread it around the Akademiya”. Kakavasha approached Veritas in shock.

Veritas smilled warmly. “As you wish, I could help you with some questions for the exams, I don’t specialise but can read through the material if you would like, Kakavasha”. He tested the word on his tongue liking the roll.

Kakavasha hid his expression turning. “I would like that.”

Alhaithem watched as Kaveh joined the seat beside his. “What structures perk your interest?”

Kaveh put his palm under his chin mirroring Alhaithem. “I wanted to look into Fontaine Structures, I hope to travel to Fontaine one day and inspiration is always welcome”.

Alhaithem hummed. “Inspiring, mine is just symbols and Squiggles”. He held the page to show off pointing at the symbols.

Kaveh laughed. “I would be so lost, they look to similar and different at the same time”. Kaveh traced the page pondering.

Alhaithem mused. “It’s Lovely to have a proper conversation with you Kaveh, I’ve seen some of your works in session, you have talent”.

Kaveh heart thumped he brought a hand to his cheek as it warmed. “T-thank you, as are you”.

Alhaithem let out an appreciate hum as he picked his pen back up beginning to rewrite. Kaveh snuck a glimpse of the man chewing his lip as his blush deepened.

“Who even thought of these equations, someone must have had a boring life”. Kakavasha rolled his pupils as Veritas guided him through the paper highlighting the sections.

“Preposterous, this is knowledge tenfold, you just need more practice, work this one out.” He theorised as Kakavasha let out a groan.

Kaveh hid his laughter burying himself in the drawings of architecture. The rumours were fabled lies and tales he summarised. Grinning to himself he watched as they all sat in a comfortable silence.

His belief shaped in the silence.
a prologue transpired today , harbouring feelings towards a determined future.
