Chapter Text
“SOMEBODY! GET NECTAR!” Jason could faintly hear a voice yelling, his vision blurry as he looked into a girl’s. She had dark brown brown hair that roped into a braid, snaking down her shoulder. Her eyes seemed teary, her face worried. “Jason, you’ll be okay, right?” The voice sounded distant, but the girl’s lips moved. Jason tried to nod. Why did that hurt so much? He felt the feeling of someone's hands on the back of his head, cradling it… was he on the ground?
“What– what happened?” He mumbled, the corners of his vision blackening. The girl seemed more worried, turning to yell louder for nectar. Jason couldn’t process what was going on, so he tried to reach out and touch her face. His hands moved from his abdomen. The hands were covered in blood (Why were they covered in blood?) , the gold streaking her cheek.
“Jason, listen to me. Everything will be okay, okay? Just–” He heard the sound of sniffling and whimpering. “Just listen to the sound of my voice and you’ll be okay.” He tried to nod again. He felt dizzy. That was weird. Gods don’t get dizzy. Did they? Was he even a God? He studied her face, maroon blood staining hers.
“Reyna…” He muttered. That was her name. Reyna. She nodded, and he felt a hand move from the back of his head. It was hers. She wiped her eyes, the gold rubbing against her nose. He didn’t know how to feel about that. His vision blurred further, and he smiled. “I’ll be okay.” She shook her head.
“No… nonono,” She mumbled, crying harder. Jason closed his eyes. “Jason… JASON!”
Jason sat up sharply in his bed, breathing harshly. He looked around. It felt unfamiliar. He was in the bottom bunk of a bunk bed. In the corner, there were two closets, and next to it two desks. At one of the desks, there was a boy about his age. He had tan skin and his curly hair seemed out of control, only held back with a headband. His back was towards Jason, but the rustling of the sheets caught his attention.
“Oh, hey Adonis. Sleep well?” The boy turned around. He had a mischievous grin on, and deep brown eyes. Jason rubbed his eyes, the back of his head throbbing.
“Um, yeah, sure.” He mumbled, trying to figure out where he was. He looked around, everything still blurry. The boy laughed.
“Adds, do you need your glasses?” He asked, getting up and walking over to Jason. He was holding the gold rimmed glasses, polished to a gleam.
“Yeah, glasses…” Jason mumbled. Adonis? Adds? He looked at the boy again, squinting. He put the glasses on. “Um, where am I?” He asked. The boy cocked his head, raising an eyebrow.
“Uh… New Rome University? Adds, you alright?” The boy asked. Jason slowly nodded, looking around at the room. Nothing made sense. Where was he?
“University… right…” He mumbled. The boy kept eyeing him weirdly. “And, who are you?” The boy rolled his eyes, but concern still hung in the air.
“You don’t even remember your best friend? Your dorm buddy?” He teased, nudging Jason in the arm. “It’s me! Leo Valdez!” Jason furrowed his brows further, slowly nodding as he took in the information. Leo Valdez ? That did NOT strike any bells in his mind. He shook his head again.
“Sorry but… I seriously don’t know you.” Leo’s forced smirk melted into a frown. He seemed hurt.
“Oh. Man. Are you alright?” He started inspecting Jason’s head, as if he was a machine that could be fixed. Leo turned him around and noticed the back of his head. “Holy shit, Adonis! You’re fucking head man!” Jason furrowed his brows again.
“What’s wrong?”
“There’s a giant scar here!” He traced it gently with his finger, sending shocks of pain through Jason’s skull.
“Ow man! Stop!” Leo pulled back quickly, blushing apologetically.
“Sorry man, but what the fuck happened? I’ve never noticed it before…” Jason frowned, unsure. He shrugged.
“I seriously have no idea.” He sighed.
“Maybe that explains your ‘memory loss’…” Leo muttered. He got up, walking over back to his desk. He picked up his phone and typed in something quickly. Jason’s head still felt the searing pain from being touched. Rome… Scar… Adonis… His thoughts raced as his head burned.
“Leo, I don’t feel so good…” Jason mumbled, blinking quickly. Leo looked up, just in time, before Jason blacked out again.
