This was all so new to them.
Yin and War had spent years working independently as actors, taking on projects they believed in, carving out their own paths in an unpredictable industry. But Jack and Joker—their series—was different. It wasn’t just another role; it was theirs, built from the ground up, created with their own hands. They had taken the risk, invested their own money, and poured everything they had into it.
And now, here they were, sitting side by side at an awards ceremony, Jack and Joker nominated for Best Series of the Year, and War for Best Supporting Actor of the Year for Taklee Genesis.
Excitement and nerves tangled in their chests. They had whispered encouragements to each other before the event started, promising that whatever happened, they had already won. But now, as the moment approached, it was getting harder to breathe.
The announcer’s voice echoed through the venue.
“And the award for Best Supporting Actor of the Year goes to… War Wanarat!”
War froze. His breath hitched.
For a moment, he didn’t move.
Yin, sitting beside him, felt the subtle tremble in War’s fingers as they curled into fists. Before he could overthink, Yin slid his hand under the arm chair and lightly pressed his fingers against War’s. It wasn’t much, just a quiet touch, a silent I’m here.
War turned slightly, meeting Yin’s eyes, searching for something—assurance, belief, stability.
Yin gave him a small nod, the barest of smiles.
“You won, Phi War,” he whispered.
War exhaled, gripping Yin’s fingers just for a second before standing up, his steps a little unsteady as he walked toward the stage.
As he took the trophy in his hands, he stared at it for a long second, as if trying to convince himself this was real. Then he took a breath, looked out into the audience, and spoke.
“I want to thank my team, the directors, my family, and of course, the fans. Without your support, I wouldn’t be standing here tonight.”
He glanced down at the trophy, then back up, his eyes softer now.
“To conclude, as I am standing here, it’s not because of me only. Everyone helped encourage me so I could be here tonight. Thank you a lot.”
He gave a deep bow, the applause crashing around him like a wave.
Yin clapped, pride swelling in his chest. He wished—God, he wished—he could run up there, throw his arms around War, tell him just how proud he was.
But they were in public. Cameras were on them.
So he stayed in his seat, letting the warmth in his eyes say everything he couldn’t.
Not long after, Jack and Joker was announced as Best Series of the Year.
This time, they both walked up to the stage together, side by side, accepting the trophy with shared glances that only they could understand.
They spoke, they thanked, they smiled for the cameras. And when the night was finally over, when the stage lights dimmed and the world quieted down, they found themselves sitting on the floor of Yin’s condo, their trophies between them.
Neither spoke at first.
War traced the engraved letters on his award, lost in thought. Yin, sitting beside him, leaned his head back against the couch, exhaling deeply.
Then, at the exact same time, they turned to each other and said it.
“I’m proud of you.”
War blinked, then let out a small, breathy laugh. He nudged Yin’s arm. “Of us.”
Yin smiled, warmth filling his chest. Without thinking, he reached forward, cupping the back of War’s head gently before pressing a kiss to his forehead.
He pulled back just slightly, enough to meet War’s eyes. “We did it, Phi War.”
War smiled, a little teary, a little tired, but completely happy. “Yeah. We did.”
Yin held War’s gaze for a moment before whispering, a quiet promise only for him to hear—
“This is ours to keep.”
