Chapter Text
Samuel’s point of view:
I sit in my cozy office, surrounded by a sofa and two chairs near the door, and my desk next to the outside wall. A window overlooks the outside, casting a warm glow on my desk, which is covered in files about children and their promising futures.
As I review some files at my desk, a loud and bold knock at my office door startles me. I invite the visitor in, and to my surprise, it’s none other than Dr. Harley Sawyer. I greet him calmly and ask, “Ah, hello, Dr. Sawyer. What brings you here?” I wait patiently for his response as he walks closer to my desk, glancing around the office.
He glances over at me and says in a rough voice, “I’m here to discuss something new, since we seem to be running low on options.” His tone suggests annoyance, and I can sense his impatience. I make an “ahh…” sound, knowing what he wants to talk about. I gesture for him to sit down, and he looks at me before swiftly taking the seat and beginning to speak.
He looks me in the eyes and asks, “Which child do you think has the potential to be a strong contender for the 1166 projects?” He waits for my response, his eyes scanning the files on my desk. I grab a large file and say, “This one is particularly promising.” I calmly provide him with the information. He takes the file and reviews it, his expression becoming more pleased. He says, “This child will be our best bet, Samuel,” in a delighted voice. I nod in acknowledgment and reply, “No problem, sir.”
Once he finished speaking, he walks out of my office and returns to his department at Playtime Co. As soon as he was out of sight, I let out a sigh and raised my hand to my head. This was the only time I had to talk to him in person, as I usually prefer to discuss matters via email or letter.
Weeks later:
It’s been a few weeks since the incident, and it seems like I keep bumping into Dr. Sawyer everywhere I go. It’s as if he’s deliberately trying to catch up with me. Whenever I head to the children’s play area, he’s conveniently there, and we start having conversations about the kids. Even when he’s not around, I still feel his presence or eyes on me, even when he’s nowhere near me. It’s driving me crazy, but I know I need to stay calm and composed and hope it’ll go away soon.

I know this is very simple but take it as a little teaser as I’m currently working on the rest of the first chapter
