Work Text:

Being pregnant has always been known to be one quite of an excruciating challenge. Jeonghan knew the risks, he knew it probably better than anyone else. And yet 6 months ago, he decided to take the leap and conceive—carrying his and Wonwoo's first child.

Living his life as a 20-week pregnant man with his stomach growing bigger everyday, Jeonghan's mobility was getting restricted and his hormones were all over the place. As the husband, Wonwoo devoted his full-time to take care of Jeonghan; juggling between work schedules with taking care of currently fussy pregnant Jeonghan is a newly unlocked skill of his.

For instance regarding how fussy Jeonghan can be, yesterday he threw a fit at the refrigerator because it apparently altered the taste of his favorite ice cream (he could only have it once a week, for some reasons no one knows why), then right after it he cried.

That night, they were having movie night at the living room of their humble apartment. Jeonghan leaned against Wonwoo's shoulder, hugging his arm in a comfortable position. He was suspiciously silent even though the movie being played was When Marnie Was There.

"Something in mind?" Wonwoo ducked his head slightly to catch a glimpse of Jeonghan's face—flat and his mind was visibly somewhere else.

"Huh?" He answered absentmindedly before continuing, "oh, uh, nothing."

"Do you need anything? Perhaps, water? Juice box? Blanket?"

"Juice box and blanket sound nice, but can you leave this arm here so I don't have to let this go?" his voice somewhat shifted from flat and lifeless voice to something that was more warm and clingy.

"I don't think that is an option to begin with, sweetheart. I come in one piece and not a Lego like I frequently hope for." Wonwoo chuckled. He reached his free hand over Jeonghan's head to gently brush and tuck his hair behind his ear.

"Then I don't need anything, yet. I need you, now." Jeonghan shifted his position and to hug Wonwoo's arm better.

"Alrighty then, let me know if you need anything and ready to let go of my arm." He kissed Jeonghan's head gently.

A short moment passed by in silence, and the movie kept rolling, until Jeonghan squeaked out, "are you nervous about being a dad?"

The question somehow took Wonwoo by surprise but he had expected it to pop up—thanks to Joshua for giving him a warning/reminder in almost every meeting. "Honestly, I am. But I know when that baby is here, I'm gonna be all prepared. How about you?"

Jeonghan inhaled and sigh deeply. "Big time. So many what ifs in my mind that it might scare you away."

"I figured that one out already so don't worry about scaring me away." His hands tried their best to reach for Jeonghan—anywhere they can reach for, "Look, this is all completely new to us and I'm not particularly a level-headed and calm husband to rely on, but I know you can get through this. We'll do a great job bringing that kid to this world and raise them, you'll be the greatest father in the whole world and I'll be the very person you both can count on. Everything will turn out as we want it to be."

Without realizing, Jeonghan was already softly snoring by the end of the sentence. He stared fondly at his own husband and leaned his head against the top of Jeonghan's. He knew that it might be a little uncomfortable to sleep in such position, but he let Jeonghan sleep for awhile and waited until he woke him up to move to the bed.

He planted another kiss on his husband's head and reached his hand over the bump, lightly caressing it. "Sleep well, my two precious stars."
