Let's Conspire to Ignite

Summary:

Contains no spoilers.

“Suou Tatsuya here to pick me up?” He said with a smirk. Tatsuya’s face reddened, returning a smirk. “Figured you might wanna ride,” he said, slipping the lighter back in his uniform pocket. “Where to?” Jun asked, shifting his weight and crossing his arms. He loved seeing Tatsuya get flustered. It may have been one of his favorite hobbies, in fact.

The date these two deserved.

Work Text:

Kasugayama High School stood tall as the sun affixed itself in the sky behind it. The school would be letting out in a moment, with Saturday evening just within reach. Tatsuya stood against his motorcycle, flicking his lighter in his left hand. The school’s bells chimed a melodic rhythm, as dozens of boys with cyan uniforms tore through the front entrance. Tatsuya looked through the sea of them, but he had his eye on one in particular.

Kurosu Jun walked slower than the other boys, engrossed in a book. His eyes lit up as he finally tore his eyes away from the diagrams in front of him. Tatsuya handed Jun a helmet wordlessly, before climbing back onto his bike. Jun laughed, placing the helmet on his head. Tatsuya offered Jun his hand, as he climbed onto the motorcycle.

Tatsuya had always been a fast driver, but Jun never felt more safe than on a bike with him. He wrapped his arms around the boy, allowing his head to rest on Tatsuya’s back. The engine roared through the streets, as the two weaved their way through the bustling streets of Sumaru.

The bike’s engine slowed down, as Tatsuya inched the vehicle into a parking spot. “We’re here,” he said, as the two removed their headgear. Tatsuya had a habit of shaking his head after, allowing his hair to cascade back into place. Jun couldn’t help but beam at him. He dismounted the bike, extending a hand for Jun to get down with ease. Jun knew how people looked at Tatsuya; a rough and tough kid who's looks could kill. He was intimidating, yet charming. Everyone either wanted him or wanted to be just like him. But they didn't see this side of him. Jun's heart warmed, feeling incredibly lucky he was one of the few who knew Suou Tatsuya. He wouldn't trade this feeling for anything else on this Earth.

The restaurant was ethereal; darker atmosphere, lit up by pale, cyan rocks. Soft classical music played somewhere in the distance, inviting the two in. Tatsuya held up two fingers to the host, “I called yesterday.” The dapper host bowed his head, “I remember. Right this way, sir.” He wore a striking black suit with a matching bowtie. Jun hoped they weren't underdressed. He supposed a uniform was spiffy enough, though.

The waiter escorted them to a seat deeper into the restaurant, nestled against a wall with a fish tank embedded in the stony wall. Jun watched the fish lazily swim by, but he felt a pair of eyes watching him instead. “This is a beautiful place you’ve chosen, Tatsuya,” Jun said, his eyes gleaming. Tatsuya’s face was hot, as he smiled gently at the boy in front of him. “Glad you like it. It’s not French but that’s harder to come by in this city.”

The waiter popped in to take their orders, then they were left alone once more. A candle flickered on the table in front of them, but Jun noticed an empty vase tucked against the wall. He clicked his tongue. “That won’t do.” He grabbed his school bag, rummaging through until he found a single flower, placing it inside the empty vase. “Much better,” he smiled.

Tatsuya grinned, “Tell me about this one.” Jun gently touched a crimson petal, “Red carnation; ‘Alas for my poor heart’,” he met Tatsuya’s eyes. “Deep love.” Tatsuya’s face flushed deeper as he smiled into his hand. “Oh, really?” He placed his other hand on the table, as Jun laced his own hand with his. “Of course.”

Tatsuya’s eyes wandered to the watch on the boy’s wrist. It ticked and ticked, the hands displaying the current time; 4:28pm. He rubbed small circles onto Jun’s hand with his own thumb. It warmed Tatsuya’s heart that he kept this watch all the years they were apart.

After dinner, the pair made their way to Ebisu Beach. With the moon hung high, the stars shimmered like diamonds against the inky sky. Tatsuya laid out a blanket he had tucked under his arm. “After you,” he said after flattening it. “What a beautiful night. Thank you, Tatsuya,” Jun remarked, as he sat himself on the pale blanket. Tatsuya hummed in response, “Not over yet,” he rubbed a hand behind his neck. “I thought maybe you could tell me about some of these stars, too.” He laid down, his arms behind his head. Jun followed suit, his arms outstretched searching the sky. “It’s spring soon, so I should be able to find this one.” He scanned the sky for a moment until he pointed. “Ah! There! Do you see those eight stars there?” Tatsuya nodded, his eyes focused on Jun. “That’s yours Tatsuya. Determined, ambitious, confident,” he turned his head to meet Tatsuya’s eyes. “Generous, honest…protective.” Jun brushed his hand against the other boy’s cheek, rubbing his thumb against his face. “Charming.”

“Jun, I–” Tatsuya found himself stuck on his words. He stared forward, eyeing Jun’s lips carefully. His thumb grazed the bottom lip, soft and inviting. Jun’s face dusted pink, his eyes longingly affixed on Tatsuya’s own. Seeing Jun blush was a rare sight. It happened, but it only seemed Tatsuya ever saw him like this. His heart sped up, palpating in his chest.

“It’s okay, Tatsuya,” Jun played with his chestnut hair, his hands wandering. “I’m never leaving your side.” The two leaned into each other, their lips making contact. Jun hummed happily, his hands buried in the other boy’s hair. They entangled themselves together under the stars, as the waves gently crashed against the sands. Tatsuya could feel the heat emanating from his face as he held onto Jun desperately.

He better keep his promise.
