Tanya, The Lesser Evil (Title may change)

Summary:

Tanya has been given a third life, this one arguably worse than the last solely on the premise that she can not move nor do anything that is not at the command of one of the "Players". Or at least that was the case, now she is freed from such troubles. The real question now, should she fall in line like the rest of the supposed "NPC's" or strike out on her own and throw Nazarick to the wayside.

Notes:

I am very out of practice when comes to actual writing right now. This likely wouldn't even be posted if someone haden't encouraged me to do so. Constructive criticism is encouraged. I would have made this chapter longer but I couldn't without it feeling forced to me.

Chapter 1: It Begins

Chapter Text

Momonga was at a loss, as he was the only guild member to even log on in the past couple months, not counting Herohero who had just logged out. Reminiscing as he walked he decided to move around some of the NPCs one last time before the servers shut down. “Follow.” The order came easily as he walked past Sebas and the Pleiades towards the throne room.

As expected there were only two NPC’s in the room. At the right side of the Throne was Albedo, the Guardian Overseer of Nazarick. And to the left of the Throne was Tan’Kyara, Nazarick’s Military Strategist. Like most NPCs Tan’Kyaras’ role was nothing more than a roleplay position. Granted, they were probably the strongest of the NPCs meant solely for roleplay. Maybe around the low-mid tear when compared to the Floor Guardian’s in strength.

If Tan’Kyara had been a Player instead of an NPC then the Demon would make quite the interesting build with the number of Leadership based Classes they have. And that is where most of Tan’s strength comes from as they are basically a walking army that can nearly triple Nazarick’s numbers in just a few seconds with summons. And with their mass buff skills for their summons and allies they could easily turn the tide of a battle if allowed to. Granted Tan’Kyara was still a level 100 NPC, so they still had the strength that came with that. Even if they were just a Dream Build.

The Demon was odd in his opinion, mostly due to the fact that it had been created by Ulbert but was not placed under Demiurge. Tan’Kyara was approximately the same height as Demiurge if he had to guess, he hadn’t seen them next to each other after all. They also had brilliant platinum blond hair and elf-like ears, but could otherwise pass for near human. With the only other stand out feature begging that the sclera of her eyes were black, with glowing red pupils.

Tanya von Degurechaff, or Tan’Kyara as they had been referred to for the past however long, watched as ‘Lord’ Momonga walked into the throne room. Whatever hell they were locked in she was not amused. Unable to move or speak under her own control. Knowledge shoved into their head, including but not limited to unknown magic, advanced military tactics using monsters that should not exist, and how to summon said monsters.

Then there are the “Players”, as they called themselves. As if this was some game for them to play and not real life. Though maybe this is nothing but a game for them with the level of power she had seen displayed by them. After all, bringing an entire new being into existence can’t be easy.

Part of her wants to be thankful as there has been no sign of Being X since she got here. The other part of her wants to rage and fight as she has not been able to do anything that was not a direct command from one of the “Players”. “Let's set this internal rant aside for now.” Tan’Kyara thought as Momonga sat on the throne and pulled up some screens.

“I do wonder what is going on. I haven’t seen any of the players other than Momonga for a while now. The concept of time in this place is peculiar so I don’t know how long it has actually been, but I do know that it has been some time.” Tan’Kyara felt a small frown flicker across her face as Momonga used his staff to do something to Albedo. Whatever it was she had the feeling that she wouldn’t like it as they could only think of the Type95 and its mental corruption in watching him mess with Albedo.

Turning her attention elsewhere, Tan’Kyara look to the servants that had entered the Momonga. “Sebas and the Pleiades if I remember correctly. Why did he bring them here? I can’t think of a single time they have been brought here before. Outside of ceremonies that is, and there isn’t one on the schedule as far as I am aware.”

“Bow Down” The moment she heard the command she had no choice other than to obey.

The festering anger Tan’Kyara was feeling at being forced to bow swiftly dissipated as she felt a sudden freeness in her joints. Keeping her head bowed she brought one of her hands into view and flexed it. “I’m free… I can move of my own accord.” Tan’Kyaras’ attention was drawn up as Momonga suddenly stood from his throne. “What’s wrong, Lord Momonga?”

“So that’s what Albedo's voice sounds like.”

“Lord Momonga, is everything all right?”

“The GM call function isn’t working.”
“GM call Function? Whatever. What should I do? If I am free to move about then that means I am not bound to this place anymore. I could leave, But would that be worth it? I may have spent most of my time in this new world here in the throne room but I have been outside of it several times as well. These ‘Players’ are powerful. Leaving would likely make me an enemy of Nazarick. And I have no doubts that that would end poorly for me. But I’ve no reason to hold loyalty to Nazarick. Unless they are what is keeping Being X at bay. Hmm.”

“Tan’Kyara, accompany Albedo in gathering the floor guardians.”

“Understood, Lord Momonga” “I’ll be respectful and go along with all of this for now. I need more information before I can make a proper decision.”

“Ha,” Momonga sighed. “I can’t believe that I basically fondled Albedo. And right in front of Tan’Kyara as well. At least they didn’t say anything, I probably would have died of embarrassment if they had.”
