Chapter Text
Today Wei Wuxian had his first big role.
The man will soon be in the same scene with a well known name withing the industry.
He is positioned behind a bar, with some music playing in the background as some very buff looking guys play poker at a table right in front of him.
The scene is ruling smoothly.
The camera men are walking around the small set where the characters who play cards are talking about some shady deal.
Wei Wuxian was busying himself in the background, cleaning pristine glasses, when the action started to unfold.
It all happened fast.
Lan Wangji, the big name in the industry with whom Wuxian felt more than proud to share the same set, slammed the door to the floor with his foot and "shot" at the big men seated around the table.
Of course, the action looked a bit silly without all of the special effects of shooting on and the black haired man (aka Wei fucking Wuxian) felt the laugh that wanted to get out of his throat.
Instead, the man yelped, just like it was written in his scrip, and hid under the bar.
Okay, maybe the yelp was a little too loud for the director's liking, and maybe Wuxian actually suffocated the laugh with this sound so this is why it came out THAT loud, but the editors could always just lower it or cut it altogether if needed so the man wasn't too preoccupied by this aspect at the moment.
What he actually cared about was his upcoming line.
With his knees kept close to his chest to he could fit comfortably under the rather small bar, Wuxian was repeating his line in his head again, and again, and again, and again, and again.
He swore he payed attention to his signal. He swore he listened to the unfolding sounds and directions that were given to the actors during the fighting scene in order to catch his own signal.
But of course he missed it.
Otherwise, he wouldn't have been raised by the collar by a very angry looking Wangji who put a fake gun to his temple.
Wuxian was actually scared.
The scene had to be different. He was supposed to get up when Wangji called for the bartender to raise. And Wuxian was supposed to deliver his line then and beg for mercy. And he had to be shot then as well and pretend to fall over the bar and—
"Where is she?" Spat Wangji in Wuxians face.
The man was so taken aback by the very few drops of saliva that actually made contact with his cheek that he stopped thinking and just blurted out whatever his brain decided was fit right then and there.
"Not here she. Beach Florida 33rd main street apartment 12 her" he said then made some very big eyes after realizing his big fuck up.
Wangji was only giving him a cold stare, looking as if he heard nothing of what he just fucked up right to his face.
Wuxian didn't get to hear the amused scoff someone made in the studio because his useless brain remembered right then that he was also supposed to beg for his life in this scene. So his mouth continued to spill his bullcrap at Wangji:
"My life spare please" was what he managed to get out before the grip on his clothes was released and he slid totally ungracefully back to his spot behind the bar.
The man got to hear a few heavy and hurried steps, then some door being broken, again, and the director giving his signal that the scene was over.
No matter the amount of mortification Wuxian felt in his very sould about how big time he destroyed the scene, he got himself to raise from behind the bar to get his scolding and, very possibly, his whole career ruined. He was, very ironically, ready to beg for his life again. This time the right and normal way.
To his surprise, he was met with the amused faces of a few cameramen and the director who didn't seem to notice him at all, too preoccupied to announce the scene done. The old man screamed at everyone instructions to prepare for the next scene.
Some good natured pats on the back, a few good laughs and a paycheck later, Wuxian was done with his big break through.
Only a month and a half later the film aired and his sister and brother got to see his face on screen, in the very same scene, exchanging his 2 liners with the very real, very famous and very aloof Lan Wangji.
Of course, Jiang Cheng was very sarcastic when he "praised" Wuxian for his big break-through. The man didn't expect anything less from his brother. But Yanli was a very sweet soul who actually gave a damn about Wuxian's experience and even asked him to get an autograph from The Lan Wangji next time they shoot a movie together.
"Don't feed his fantasies. It's not healthy for someone to be this delusional" retorted Jiang Cheng trying to convert Yanli to his extreme skepticism.
Wuxian purposefully video called his brother to see his face when he showed him his newest contract.
Only a few weeks after his break-through, Wuxian got another role, this time in a movie with two major actors: Lan Wangji AND Wen Quing. The ultimate duo. The king and the queen of the industry. The salt and sugar of the food chain.
"And this time I have six lines!" Exclaimed Wuxian happily whilst Jiang Cheng, on the other side of the line, looked like he was malfunctioning.
