Chapter Text

“*So.. You’re Spider-Man?*”

Ekkos has always been your best friend ever since you could walk. Yeah, you’re a weirdo. But he hasn't left your side yet, and you plan to cherish it while it lasts, just a matter of time till he leaves for some popular jock group. He shouldn't hang out with someone like her.. Some weight on his back thats always drags him down.

So deep into thought, she didn't seem to notice the figure about to crash through her window.. And..
“What the..”

“God, sorry about your window but I gotta-” Wow, the one and only spiderman, crashes into her window.. And, some other guy beating him up.

“Do you guys have to brawl in my dorm?” She snickers, could this day get any worse? Now she has to pay for a window. Ugh..
And just before she could even say anything, Spidey throws that guy out the window and follows after. “I should’ve gotten insurance..” Perfect timing, she just moved here, and has another liability. Before she could even move her bed in..

She dials up the number on the sticky note Ekko had given her before she moved in.. ‘Reception’. How convenient, actually. “Hello? Is this Gloomspire?”
‘Please press 0 for the front desk..’ Oh, so she talked to herself, okay. She clicks on 0. “Hello.. Is this Gloomspire?”

“Gloomspire Front Desk, how can I help you?”

“Yeah.. I know it sounds absurd but, I just moved in and that new vigilante guy on the news crashed into my place and there's glass everywhere.. Uhm.. Do you guys have a broom, mop, whatever.”

“We can send up a maid-”

“N-No, it's fine. I wouldn't want to bother them at..” She checks her invisible watch, right, she sold it for this place, on her phone. “11 pm.”

“Alright, we’ll send up cleaning supplies. Have a nice night?” And the other line hangs up.

Why.. Did she.. say.. No.. She flops onto her bed, or well, the floor.
“Ow!” She instinctively reaches for her head, but instead feels a hand on her forehead, those dark calloused fingers.. Ekko.

“Hey, you good?” She looks up and sees his cocky grin. Despite it all, it sorta seemed genuine.

“Yeah yeah,” He reaches out a hand to help her up, but she gets up herself.

“What happened here?” He gestures towards the mess of a room.

“Yeah yeah, long story. Just help me clean up.” She kicks away a few glass shards with her shoe. “So much for 'welcoming.’”

“Don't worry, I swear it's way better than this. Besides, it's your first week, got time to warm up.” He places a hand on her shoulder and walks closer.

“Yeah yeah, buddy. Even the neighbors are dumps. How do you survive all this?” The maid outside drops off the cleaning supplies, and she warmly greets them with a smile before shutting the door.
“Here,” She hands over a mop, “you better be as great with a mop as a basketball.”

“Aw man.. Why do I gotta?” She pushes it against his chest and he reluctantly grabs it, “I'm a jock, not a cleaner..!”

“But you could also be a cleaning jock, but you seem more like a whiner.” She grabs a broom, a dustpan and a clear plastic trash bag. “What room are you anyway?”

“404, just upstairs.” He waits for her to swipe up all the glass, shoving his hand in his pockets

“You better not be loud, because I'll file that complaint if you even make a squeak.” She scoffs and smirks playfully, still trying to pick up all the glass

“Hey!” He places a hand on his chest in mock offense “Must you go to such drastic measures?”

“Shut up and clean,” She shoves the dustpan into the garbage bag, “remind me to always wear shoes.. I'm gonna be stepping on glass for days..”

“Dang..” Sucks to be you.
“What a shitty day.” She runs her hand across her face. “Hey, my stuff won't till tomorrow, mind if I crash your crib.”

“Hey, why not.” He shrugs and actually picked up a mop

“Finally picking up a mop?” She teases as he throws her the keys to his dorm. Shoving them into her cargo pants. “Knock if you wanna come in.” She puts her hands up in the air in mock surrender and heads off.

“Why did I crash the window…” He mutters under his breath, and starts mopping away. Fortunately, it's really really cramped, unlike his shared dorm with a guy who doesn't even use it.

————————————————————————

She wanders down the crimson corridor.. Hmm.. “Broken elevator.” As if! She tears down the board and calls an elevator, and guess what? It's not broken, probably a senior prank, see? Always trust your guts. Actually, it's just a floor. Probably shoulda just walked the stairwell, and the elevator opens, and what a surprise.

“Hey again.” Ekko waves to her casually as if it wasn't even a minute since she left that room.

“How did you even- No, I won't press it..” She just pushed past his shoulder, “prolly ran up the stairs to spook me..” she mutters.

“I can read lips.” Ekko chuckles and held a mischievous curled lip.

“Oh yeah? What's this?” She says silently as they strolled down the hallways

“‘Oh yes, what’s this.’” He repeated easily, mocking her in a cute baby voice

“Dang it. Ok, ok, try this. Also I don't sound like that!” She takes a deep breath before muttering silently. (You’ll never know.. mehehe)

“Hey! Only if you took it literally.” He raises his hands in mock offense.

“I hate you.” She struggles and fiddles around with the keys for a bit.

“Need help?” He says just as she gets it open “Not anymore I guess.” He pushes the door knob open for her, “My liege.” He bows slightly as if greeting a royal.

“Pfft..” She walks in with her arms crossed “Woah.. Your room gets so much room..”

“Hmph, I don't know, it's probably a room.” He shrugs and smirks wildly

“Shut up,” she pouts, bubbling up her cheeks

“You know, for a nerd, you don't have a broad vocabulary.” He closes and locks the door, setting down his keys on a nearby drawer.

“I slipped up once, jeez.” She plops down on his bed. That's there this time. “Hopefully no spider’s gonna crash the window again..”

“Mm, and also, to answer your earlier question, it's a shared space, just the other guy never came back. Living with his mama, I get all this space!” He pulls out his tie and throws it on the cupboard

“I'm taking your bed then.. I'm too lazy to get up now. So much energy I would have to waste..” She acts all dramatic, as if on the verge of tears.

“Fine fine, you amazing actor, I’ll take the other one.” He says, looking all smug, he got her to sleep in his bed.. win-win. And he gets to sleep across from her.

“Hey, pretty comfy, I might have to sleep here forever now.” She sleeps on her side, looking over to Ekkos side. Comfy? No, the bed felt like really itchy microfibers. But, the bonus? It smells just like him.. What? Who thought that..

“Hey, I'm taking that back tomorrow.” He pulls up his phone, scrolling through Tiktok.

“Yeah yeah, you wouldn't, because you’d love to see me in your bed.” She smiles softly before pulling out a sketchbook to draw, occasionally peering over to Ekko. It was actually pretty easy to draw when your muse is right in front of you, almost like a time skip actually, really absorbs you into it to the point where you don't notice him towering over you. “Whatcha drawing?”

“Uh..mm.. Spider-man?” She flips the page and shows a drawing of what she remembered of Spider-man when he crashed in.

“Suree, I'll catch you next time.” W-what did he mean by that..? Just before she could process it all, he threw his blanket over her, “I mean, I'll get you next time, Mr spooky ghost.” He flicks her forehead and goes back into his bed.

She grabs it off her head, “Fine.. I’ll go to sleep, you BETTER, not open the book.” She closes her eyes with the book in hand. On high alert of course, and after about 5 minutes of peaceful silence.. too peaceful.. He airhorned her straight in the ear “Hey!! C'mon, it's just midnight.”
“Yeah, it's midnight.” She yawns and stretches, her eyes fluttering open. “You a night owl?” She smiled, but her dark circles were showing.

“Nah, party animal, hmm… maybe.” He jumps back onto his bed.

“Now, can you pleasee let me sleep?” She's about to pass out at this point. “It’s been a rough day.” She fiddles and flips around in the bed. She just moved, it's a lot to process and everything.

“Okay grumpy.” He rolls his eyes and switches the light switch nearby off, taking out the hair tie holding up his dreads, “Goodnight.”

“Night.”
